Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 2:

Courtland Sutton, WR, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton should continue to be viewed as a solid WR2 in all formats heading into a Week 2 tilt against the Indianapolis Colts. Despite the Denver offense struggling to find its footing in Week 1, Sutton enjoyed a productive afternoon. The veteran wideout caught six of his nine targets for 61 yards and a score.

His touchdown came on a 22-yard pass from quarterback Bo Nix. Even though Nix showed some growing pains in this contest, his top wideout was still given a high target share and was able to produce. Last season, Sutton was one of the most productive wideouts during the second half, averaging a stellar 18.2 PPR points per game over his final 10 games.

Even if Bo Nix continues to struggle, Sutton's high target share gives him a safe WR2 projection in this contest. He is worth starting in all formats this weekend.

Kenneth Walker III, RB, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III is a flex player with upside in Week 2 when Seattle visits the Pittsburgh Steelers. Walker's 40% Week 1 snap share was concerning. That number figures to rise, given that Walker was working back from injuries throughout the offseason, but he does not appear poised to maintain the workhorse role he once held in this backfield.

Walker was the preferred pass-catching running back in Week 1, which gives him a solid base in fantasy. Seattle is facing a Steelers' defense on Sunday that should be solid all-around. However, they just got torched on the ground and through the air by a Jets offense that many considered to be below average coming into the season.

With Seattle now having a week to see what their new offense looks like, they should be able to make adjustments and have more success in Week 2. Walker has lost his status as an RB2, but he can be started in your flex.

Mike Evans, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans didn't have a great season opener, but was still able to contribute in the win. Evans hauled in five of his eight targets for 51 yards in the victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

The veteran wideout finished with the team-high in receptions and targets. However, Evans saw his fantasy value take a dip with Emeka Egubka and Bucky Irving catching the three touchdowns.

Fantasy managers shouldn't be worried, as Evans is still one of the most consistent wideouts in the league. He should get the benefit of the doubt and remain on the WR1 radar for the upcoming matchup against the Houston Texans.

Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins caught three of his four targets for 33 yards in the win over the Cleveland Browns. The wideout has been known to have some off weeks throughout his career. However, he wasn't the only one who struggled, with Joe Burrow throwing for 113 yards.

Teammate, Ja'Marr Chase, didn't play much better, with the former LSU Tiger amassing only two grabs. All things considered, the Bengals likely did some work during the week leading up to Sunday's clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars, meaning there is a good chance the offense turns it around.

While that doesn't mean Higgins will see the most attention from Burrow in Week 2, there's still reason to believe he'll perform at a higher level, considering Sunday's contest may be the highest-scoring game on the schedule.

Ashton Jeanty, RB, Las Vegas Raiders

Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty had a tough Week 1 against the Patriots, managing just 40 yards from scrimmage but salvaging his day with a three-yard touchdown run.

Encouragingly, Jeanty dominated the backfield workload, logging 86% of snaps and handling 19 of the team's 22 rushing attempts, cementing himself as the clear lead back. Week 2 presents another challenge, as the Chargers limited the Chiefs to just 98 rushing yards in their opener.

If Los Angeles sells out to stop the run the way New England did, the Raiders may lean more on Geno Smith and the passing game, potentially capping Jeanty's ceiling. Still, his elite usage keeps him firmly in the RB2 mix with touchdown upside.
