Top Hitter Streamers and Starts - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 2 (April 7 - April 13)

Christian Encarnacion-Strand - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Dan's top hitter streamers and starts as fantasy baseball waiver wire adds for Week 2 of 2025 (April 7 - April 13). He analyzes streamers with favorable matchups, schedules.

I hope you scooped up Ivan Herrera last week before he went nuclear or maybe his teammate Lars Nootbaar - neither of which should end up on waivers again for the rest of the season if they stay healthy. The early part of the season is the best time to be proactive on the wire, whether you are adding players with rest-of-season upside of just taking advantage of the best matchup and filling in gaps created by injuries.

Our hitter streamers fantasy baseball waiver-wire pickups column will identify hitters with good matchups who can be considered waiver-wire streamers ahead of the Sunday night waiver-wire runs for leagues with weekly transactions. Players that appear in this article will always be rostered in 40% or fewer leagues on Yahoo!

In this piece, every week, I'll look to find hitters playing in the most games and who have the most favorable matchups to help you plug those gaps and fill those holes in your roster. You can also check out the rest of our fantasy baseball streamer content here at RotoBaller.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

What Teams Offer The Most Streaming Value?

Most teams are playing six games this week. However, the Red Sox, Royals, Twins, and Blue Jays all play seven games.

Ballpark Upgrades:

  • ATL (3 games at Tampa)
  • MIL (3 games at Coors)
  • LAA (3 games at Tampa)
  • NYM and SDP (3 games each in Sacto)
  • PIT (3 games in Cincy)

Note: I'm going to start treating the Rays' and Athletics' home stadiums for this season as upgrades - not quite on the level of Cincinnati or Colorado, but significantly better for hitters than the majority of other ballparks.

Week 2 Fantasy Baseball Hitter Streamers

I'll recommend only players who are 40% rostered or lower, and all roster percentages are from Yahoo!

Spencer Torkelson, 1B - DET (38% rostered)

We have to cover a few of these "season-long adds with upside" right out of the gate. If you are feeling at all a little nervous about your depth at the corner infield slots, then you should be checking the wire to see if Torkelson or CES are available.

It's early, but Torkelson ranks 22nd overall right now as this looks very much like the breakout season we have been waiting for. We saw him crush last year in the minors after being sent down, and he hit everything this spring, too. And now it's carried over to a hot start to the regular season.

Torkelson has 30-HR upside and the ability to hit for average in addition to the power numbers.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand, 1B - CIN (38% rostered)

CES launched his second bomb of the season yesterday, but his low average is still a concern for fantasy managers. I'm willing to chalk it up to just a slow start, and I think better days are ahead. While he may never hit better than say .250 or .260, he has elite power and one of the best home parks for hitting dingers.

I'm hanging onto him in multiple leagues, and I think he's a compelling pick-up until we see what he can do for a full month or so as a full-time player.

TJ Friedl, OF - CIN (36% rostered)

I featured Friedl last week, and while it took him all week to get there, he erupted yesterday with a home run and four total hits against Milwaukee. He's a power/speed guy leading off for a talented young offense. And like CES, Friedl is going to benefit from playing half of his games at Great American Ballpark.

Hunter Goodman, C/OF - COL (31% rostered)

If you are like me, you may already have too many catchers on your roster. But Goodman is eligible at OF, too, which makes him a bit more appealing.

He has slumped in this series against the Athletics, but he already launched two home runs this season and is hitting cleanup for the Rockies. With another home series this week against Milwaukee, Goodman could be in a good spot to launch a few more.

Trevor Story, SS - BOS (30% rostered)

Story has two home runs in his last three games and two steals, reminding us of his dual talents. I have no idea if he can stay in the lineup, but the Red Sox play seven times this week, and Story has more talent than any other player this lightly rostered. He's worth a speculative add to see if he can stay hot at the plate and healthy enough to stay in the lineup regularly.

Jung Hoo Lee, OF - SFG (27% rostered)

Lee is an underrated fantasy asset and is ranked 53rd on Yahoo right now - that's without hitting a home run yet this season. Lee has an elite hit tool and is hitting in front of two legit power bats in Matt Chapman and Heliot Ramos.

Lee is pumping doubles into the gap and scoring runs in bunches. He has three steals already, too. Grab him now if you need another outfielder. Lee is a player who should be rostered in standard leagues as long as he's healthy.

Michael Conforto, OF - LAD (19% rostered)

Conforto hits cleanup for the best lineup in baseball when they face a right-handed pitcher. And while he's set to be a semi-platoon player this year, he's sat only twice so far this season. I don't usually recommend holding platoon players, but Conforto is worth using most weeks as he should play at least 4-5 games for the Dodgers while occupying a desirable position in the lineup.

Jacob Wilson, SS - ATH (16% rostered)

The prospect is proving he belongs in the major leagues this season as he's collected at least one hit in every Athletics game. He's flashed some power, too, with two home runs, too. He's going to get the chance to play every day, and right now it looks like he's locking up the shortstop job for good. Middle infielders with power are always in high demand, and we know that the Athletics' temporary home in Sacramento is going to help their power numbers this year, too.

Jordan Walker, OF - STL (16% rostered)

The Cardinals' offense has been better than I think anyone expected so far. We have been waiting on Walker's breakout for several years, but perhaps this is the season he finally puts it all together. He's hitting down in the order, but has been productive with hits in all but one start this season, one home run, and two steals.

Geraldo Perdomo, SS - ARI (14% rostered)

Perdomo is off to a huge start with 11 RBI and two steals. The switch-hitting shortstop can hit from both sides of the plate and has been bumped up in the lineup since Ketel Marte got hurt this week. He's a really good player who not enough managers know about.

There's no power here, but Perdomo is always on base, scoring runs, and a threat to swipe some bags.

Nolan Schanuel, 1B - LAA (10% rostered)

I don't love using first basemen who lack power, but if you are in a points league or a league that counts OBP, then Schanuel's numbers will play there. He's gathered at least one hit in all but one game for the Angels so far while scoring five runs and driving in four more.

This offense should be better than it has been once more hitters start coming around and Schanuel can hit anywhere in this lineup. It's low-end production but Schanuel is super steady and less prone to hot and cold streaks than big swingers.

Week 2 Deeper League Hitter Streamers to Consider

Some widely available hitters (under 10% rostered) could be worth a look this week.

Good luck this week, and choose those streaming options wisely!
