2024 NFL QB Power Rankings: All 32 Starting Quarterbacks for Week 9

josh allen fantasy football rankings NFL injury news DFS lineup picks

Quincy Milton ranks all 32 starting NFL quarterbacks for Week 9 of the 2024 season. From Lamar Jackson to Spencer Rattler, see where your favorite quarterback falls.

Sunday should have been National Quarterbacks Day in addition to National Tight Ends Day because signal-callers had quite the weekend. Jared Goff managed to throw for only 85 yards and three touchdowns in a 52-14 win, Jalen Hurts rushed for three touchdowns, and Jameis Winston brought the Browns back from the morgue.

The performances were not all great, though. Anthony Richardson just got benched and Bryce Young did himself no favors by throwing two interceptions in his first start since Week 2.

This is going to be a fun week to look at the power rankings. So many players are deserving of their flowers. Alas, there is only so much room for players at the top. Let's see where everyone stands heading into Week 9.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

1. Lamar Jackson - Baltimore Ravens

Cleveland of all teams took down the big, bad Ravens in Week 8. However, Jackson still threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns to hold onto the top spot on this list. Their five-game win streak had to end at some point. There is no need to place much stock in this loss yet.

2. Josh Allen - Buffalo Bills

Allen holds on to the No. 2 spot on this list after destroying the Seahawks in the Seattle rain. Allen threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns as the Seahawks could not get out of their own way. Allen did throw his first interception on the season, which prevents him from unseating Lamar Jackson in the power rankings.

3. Patrick Mahomes - Kansas City Chiefs

There is the Mahomes we know and love. Mahomes and the Chiefs improved to 7-0 after putting up 27 points on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8. Mahomes threw for 262 yards and two touchdowns. He only threw one interception in this game. With that defense and the addition of DeAndre Hopkins, watch out.

4. Jared Goff - Detroit Lions

The Lions managed to win 52-14 on Sunday with Goff only throwing for 85 yards. It seemed like every time you looked up at the screen, the Lions were ripping off a huge gain on offense, defense, or special teams. They repeatedly set up deep in Titans territory, which allowed Goff to throw for three touchdowns without the yardage.

5. Joe Burrow - Cincinnati Bengals

Burrow played pretty well on Sunday, but the Bengals still fell short against the Eagles in Week 8. Burrow's 234 passing yards and a touchdown were not enough and the Bengals only scored 17 points. Are better days ahead for the Bengals as a team? Only time will tell. Even so, Burrow looked excellent and accurate in the pocket.

6. Jalen Hurts - Philadelphia Eagles

Hurts was lights out in Week 8. He threw for 236 passing yards on an 80% completion percentage. He also rushed for three touchdowns and accounted for a total of four. Hurts is flying up this list with his recent performances now that he has a full complement of weapons.

7. C.J. Stroud - Houston Texans

Stroud bounced back in a big way in Week 8 after a tough Week 7. He threw for 285 yards and a touchdown. He was surgical through the air against the Colts. Stroud now heads into Week 9 against the New York Jets down both Stefon Diggs and Nico Collins. At least he should get Collins back in Week 10, but Diggs is done for the season.

8. Jayden Daniels - Washington Commanders

What rib injury? Daniels cooked against the Bears both on the ground and through the air in Week 8. His Hail Mary to Noah Brown as time expired made this a game for the ages. This team has an identity, and most importantly, a belief in its young signal-caller. All arrows are pointing up.

9. Brock Purdy - San Francisco 49ers

Purdy has been hot and cold in 2024, but he was able to play well in Week 8 despite the 49ers missing several top weapons in this game. The team now finds itself back in position to surge toward the NFC West title. With Christian McCaffrey due back in a couple of weeks, this could be a scary team in the near term.

10. Kirk Cousins - Atlanta Falcons

Captain Kirk is back in good graces after a 276-yard, four-touchdown game against the Buccaneers. Cousins is now tied for fifth in the league in passing touchdowns. The Falcons took command of the NFC South on Sunday and should remain in the driver's seat if Cousins can play like this consistently.

11. Jordan Love - Green Bay Packers

Love fought through a groin injury throughout a good chunk of the Packers' Week 8 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Love's play was impacted by his injury as he was visibly hampered throughout the game.

Even so, Love has now thrown nine interceptions on the season. He will need to improve his touchdown-to-interception ratio if the Packers want to make a deep run. Hopefully, he can get back on the field in Week 9.

12. Baker Mayfield - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

After scorching the league through the first month of the season, Mayfield has fallen down this list because of his turnover problems. He has thrown multiple interceptions in three straight games. He is going to be without his top wideouts, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, for a while. As such, Mayfield is going to need to figure things out.

13. Sam Darnold - Minnesota Vikings

The Vikings find themselves in the midst of a two-game skid. However, it is not necessarily because of the play of Darnold. Both losses have been close games. In Week 8, Darnold threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns. He continues to succeed by limiting turnovers.

14. Dak Prescott - Dallas Cowboys

Prescott has many people questioning if he is worth the $60 million per year the Cowboys handed him this offseason. This team has a lot of fatal flaws, and Prescott's play has not been able to mask them. His two interceptions in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers were back-breaking.

15. Kyler Murray - Arizona Cardinals

Welcome to the party, Mr. Murray. The Cardinals offense was excellent in Week 8 behind the play of Kyler Murray, who threw for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Murray was a surgeon as he carved up the Dolphins throughout the day. He spread the ball around as well with seven different Cardinals recording a reception.

16. Geno Smith - Seattle Seahawks

Smith was rising quickly after a series of solid performances. The NFL's passing yards leader fell flat on his face in Week 8 when the Bills came to town. The Seahawks offense could not get anything going after putting together a few solid drives in the first half. Smith will look to bounce back in a huge divisional game against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 9.

17. Justin Herbert - Los Angeles Chargers

Herbert is starting to look like his old self. As the veteran gets comfortable in this new offense, he should only continue to ascend. Herbert threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns in Week 8. He has shown a nice rapport with rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey of late. Herbert will head into Week 9 fresh off his three best games of the season.

18. Russell Wilson - Pittsburgh Steelers

It must be 2015 because Russell Wilson has looked awesome in his two starts. He threw for 278 yards and a touchdown in Week 8 against the New York Giants. He has brought a downfield element to this team that it lacked when Justin Fields was slinging the rock. Wilson should only continue to ascend in the coming weeks.

19. Matthew Stafford - Los Angeles Rams

Stafford was awesome in his first game with both Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua since Week 1. He threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns. Don't look now but the Rams are 3-4 and within striking distance of first place in the NFC West.

20. Tua Tagovailoa - Miami Dolphins

Tagovailoa was finally back in Week 8 and the Dolphins offense was operating at a high level with him behind center. He threw for 234 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, the Dolphins allowed the Cardinals to win on a walk-off field goal.

21. Caleb Williams - Chicago Bears

Until the fourth quarter in Week 8, Williams seemed to have forgotten that he was really good over the past few weeks before the Bears' bye. In his defense, the Commanders defense has been improving all year. Williams would have led a game-winning drive had the Commanders not succeeded on their last-second Hail Mary attempt.

22. Trevor Lawrence - Jacksonville Jaguars

Don't look now but Trevor Lawrence is eighth in the NFL in QBR. After a rough start to the season, we are seeing the player who was drafted No. 1 overall in 2021 and broke out over the second half of 2022. Unfortunately, Lawrence's team is horrible and his play is not being reflected in the win/loss column.

23. Aaron Rodgers - New York Jets

Rodgers was solid in Week 8, but he does not have the same moxie or escape ability that he used to. Both sides of the ball ended up disappointing for the Jets in this game. The Jets are one more loss away from this being a lost season. It turns out they were not a 40-year-old Rodgers away from shaking things up in the AFC.

24. Joe Flacco - Indianapolis Colts

Second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson played himself onto the bench. After posting a 44% completion percentage through eight weeks, the Colts decided they needed to move to the veteran Flacco. This move allows the Colts to win now, but it jeopardizes their future. Flacco should have success in a well-stocked offense moving forward.

25. Bo Nix - Denver Broncos

Nix is starting to look like the real deal. He accounted for four touchdowns in Week 8 as the Broncos bludgeoned the hapless Carolina Panthers. Nix has started to look very comfortable in Sean Payton's quarterback-friendly system. If he can keep this up, then the Broncos have a real chance at making a playoff push. Baltimore presents a nice test in Week 9.

26. Jameis Winston - Cleveland Browns

Winston does not own the bottom spot on this list any longer as he guided the Browns to an unbelievable victory against the Baltimore Ravens. Winston threw for 334 yards and three touchdowns. Most importantly, he did not throw any interceptions. Browns fans probably didn't realize that quarterbacks were allowed to throw for more than 200 yards, let alone 300.

27. Drake Maye - New England Patriots

Maye did not have much time in Week 8 to show his skills as he was forced out of the game with a concussion. Hopefully, he can clear the concussion protocol before Week 9. In his absence, Jacoby Brissett was able to lead the Patriots to victory over the division-rival Jets.

28. Daniel Jones - New York Giants

Jones had another dud of a game in Week 8 and is trending in the wrong direction. He keeps managing to throw for high-yardage totals but the Giants aren't scoring touchdowns. Jones' days seem to be numbered in New York.

29. Mason Rudolph - Tennessee Titans

It was not Rudolph's best day as the Titans were handled by the Lions from the second quarter on in Week 8. The game started off as a back-and-forth track meet. However, the Titans ultimately imploded and the Lions ran away with this thing. On the bright side, Rudolph did establish a rapport with Calvin Ridley.

30. Gardner Minshew II - Las Vegas Raiders

Minshew was better in Week 8 than he had been for most of the season. He was efficient and threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns against a talented Chiefs defense. Even so, the Raiders fell to 2-6 to improve their chances of drafting Minshew's successor.

31. Bryce Young - Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young or Andy Dalton? Even the Panthers don't know the answer at this point. Young was thrown back into the fire against a talented Broncos defense in Week 8 without Diontae Johnson or Adam Thielen in the lineup. He managed to throw for over 200 passing yards for just the sixth time in his career. However, he once again threw multiple interceptions.

32. Spencer Rattler - New Orleans Saints

Rattler was unable to get much going in Week 8 against the Chargers as the Saints failed to score a touchdown. It seems as though Derek Carr is trending toward playing in Week 9, which would relegate Rattler to the bench.
