Kacey's four fantasy football players to trade for in 2025 dynasty leagues. Her top sleepers and cheap dynasty buys including Trey Benson, Evan Engram, and more.
What a weekend! I was in charge of organizing the Scott Fish Bowl Live Drafts in Dallas. This is Dallas' (and my) third year hosting the event, and it was such a fun time. It's weird hosting an event when nothing goes off the rails, especially since all the other years felt so stressful. Shout out to everyone who came to the event. It was so awesome to meet so many folks from around the metroplex who are into fantasy football as much as I am.
With all of that fantasy football energy still buzzing around me, I've been wanting to talk sleepers. Sure, the Scott Fish Bowl is redraft, but my mind always wants to wander back to dynasty. I have a hard time turning the dynasty brain off (some of y'all might know what I'm talking about).
So, for this piece, I want to focus on four cheap dynasty fantasy football buys with upside in 2025. These are players who find themselves in new situations, clear paths to points, and those who have shown they can get it done (despite injuries or age). Whether you're looking for a one-year rental or want a player who will give you fantasy value for years, I've got you covered.

Justin Fields, QB, New York Jets
It's odd to say that being on the Jets could be a good thing, but it is for quarterback Justin Fields. With his third team, the 26-year-old is officially back in a full-time starter role.
For contenders in need of a QB2 with upside, he's someone worth trading for. The former first-rounder is a dual-threat quarterback who's paired up with his former college teammate, Garrett Wilson. Wilson hauled in 66 catches for 1,031 yards and nine scores over 22 games with Fields under center during their time together at Ohio State. Adding to the talent around the QB, Breece Hall remains the team's RB1, finishing as RB16 in PPR leagues in 2024.
Last season with Pittsburgh, Fields started six games with a 4-2 record. He registered 1,106 passing yards, five touchdowns, and just one interception in his short time as the starter. Tacking on five additional rushing touchdowns and averaging 19.1 fantasy points per game through Week 6 added to his solid start. During those six weeks, he sat at QB6. Unfortunately for Fields, he was benched in favor of a healthy Russell Wilson.

Joining the Jets, he steps into an offense with a young offensive line (first-round offensive tackles Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou join center Joe Tippman). The Jets also took a shot on TE Mason Taylor in the draft, gifting Fields another dependable target. Additionally, the team has a new creative offensive coordinator, Tanner Engstrand, who came over from Detroit.
With backups Tyrod Taylor, Adrian Martinez, and Brady Cook behind him, Fields is the clear QB1 in that organization. The Jets might be using him as a band-aid until finding their QB of the future, but if you're contending, it's worth taking a shot on him for this season.
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Cleveland Browns
If I told you Jerry Jeudy ended the 2024 season as the WR12 in PPR leagues, would you believe me? Jeudy dropped a huge 40.5-point contest in Week 13 and averaged 14.2 points per game. He also hit double-digit fantasy points in 12 different matchups. Add in his 90 receptions for 1,229 yards and four scores on 145 targets, and yep, he had WR1-level numbers.
Keep in mind that the Browns ranked dead last in scoring last year. Jeudy did the most with what he was given, considering he caught passes from a carousel of QBs (Jameis Winston, Deshaun Watson, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and Bailey Zappe).
Despite the lack of touchdowns the 26-year-old registered, he still ranked sixth in receiving yards. When you see that TE David Njoku led the team in touchdowns last season with five, Jeudy's lack of scoring makes sense.
Fun fact!

Now, Jeudy sees his fantasy value grow with the departure of wideout Elijah Moore. Moore tacked on 103 targets in 17 games last season, so for those who agree with the vacated targets way of thinking, the Alabama product should see more balls in his direction.
Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders are all there, and the training camp battle will be one to watch. Don't forget Watson, okay... you can. He'll probably miss a large portion of 2025 due to an Achilles tendon rupture and subsequent surgeries. (I'm pretty sure we're done with him for a variety of reasons.)
Jeudy is the clear WR1 in this offense and is likely to lead the team again despite a murky quarterback room. The Browns will presumably continue to play from behind in 2025, so look for Jerry to feast in those garbage-time moments.
The former Pro Bowler should bounce back in the TD department this year with a (hopefully) more stable QB situation. You can possibly land the WR for an early second pick or a player like Dalton Kincaid or Joe Mixon. He's a WR1 you can get at WR3 prices, making him definitely worth bringing onto your dynasty squad.
Evan Engram, TE, Denver Broncos
Injuries sidetracked Evan Engram in 2024 as he dealt with both shoulder and hamstring concerns. It could be hard to recall how good the 30-year-old looked recently, given his injury status last season.
Engram caught 114 passes for 963 yards in 2023, which is elite usage for a tight end. Can he bring that kind of production with him to Denver, where he signed a two-year, $23 million deal? There's a strong shot he can thrive under Sean Payton.
Payton is a head coach who has been searching for his "joker." You know, that hybrid weapon that can do it all. Catch passes, block, and run routes smoothly; basically, he wanted his Jimmy Graham-type guy in Denver. Now, he thinks he has him in Engram.

Courtland Sutton, the team's WR1, draws top coverage. The rest of the receivers haven't proven themselves yet, so the team needed someone to fill that void. Engram could easily end the season second in targets behind Sutton.
Quarterback Bo Nix had a nice rookie season, tossing 29 TDs while running it in for four more. Engram is in the perfect situation to contribute right away, adding another red zone presence for Nix to target.
Engram's giant frame and after-the-catch talent make him a headache for defenders. He's the ideal target for those TE-needy dynasty contenders who are just one piece away.
Managers could be low on the Ole Miss alum due to his age and injury history. You should take advantage of those who don't think the veteran has anything left in his tank. He might not hit that 2023 status, but if he gives you just 75 percent of that, you're golden (especially in PPR leagues).
Trey Benson, RB, Arizona Cardinals
We've been waiting for James Conner to fall over that age cliff forever, and we've been waiting... and waiting. Don't be surprised if this is the year it finally happens.
That's where Trey Benson comes in; the running back drafted by the Cardinals in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He flashed a bit in 2024 but took a backseat to Conner's career season.
Conner handled a career-high 236 carries last year, adding an additional 47 receptions on 55 targets. The RB saw 1,518 yards from scrimmage and tallied nine scores but ended up injuring his knee in Week 16.
In Week 17, the veteran back tried to power through but landed on injured reserve before Week 18. For a 30-year-old back drafted in 2017, this was an incredible feat. But it also left fantasy managers scratching their heads, wondering how many more productive years Conner can bring to the table.

Looking at Benson last season, he averaged 4.6 yards per carry and caught all six of his targets. There were bright spots in his fantasy game, like Week 9 where he posted 12.5 PPR points, and Week 10 when he tallied 10.7.
Benson himself is aiming big for year two. "I feel like we can have two RB1s on this team, and that's my mindset this year; is two RB1s," he told Bob McManaman of the Arizona Republic. For managers, that would also be a positive for fantasy. A true one-two punch could give the youngster value early on, and he'll have league-winning upside if Conner's age and durability catch up to him.
If Father Time catches up with Conner or if he gets hurt, Benson should take over the role and never give it up. Find the dynasty manager who rosters the Florida State product and see if they're down on the back after his quiet rookie season. It's time to pounce before Benson gets his shot to shine.
