Week 10 Deeper Waiver Wire Pickups: PPR Leagues

Tony Peters identifies deeper 2016 fantasy football PPR sleepers & Week 10 NFL waiver wire pickups. These PPR RBs, WRs & TEs should be added off the waiver wire as fantasy football sleepers.

Welcome, welcome, RotoBallers. Please join me for my deeper PPR league sleepers column for Week 10 of the NFL season.

In this weekly article, we are going to take a look at some deeper waiver wire options for PPR leagues and target players who could help out your team in the upcoming week.

The following waiver wire suggestions for Week 10 of the NFL season are all owned in 16% or less of Fleaflicker leagues.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge is back with a massive $500,000 grand prize and $1.35 million total prize pool, paying down to 800th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 10 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The 7,250 entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 10th at 4:30 pm ET . Don't wait - get your team now and end your fantasy football season with a shot at $500,000! Sign Up Now!

PPR Wide Receiver Waiver Wire Adds

J.J. Nelson (WR, ARI) - 12% Owned

This pick had to wait a week to come to fruition, and now is the time to plunk in deep leagues. In the two weeks prior to the Cardinals' Week 9 bye, wide receiver J.J. Nelson suddenly became an important part of his team's passing game. After only seeing six targets over the first six weeks of the season, he has 19 combined looks between Week 7 and 8, bringing down 11 of them for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Nelson doesn't have the best PPR matchup against a 49ers' defense known more for allowing touchdowns than yards or receptions, but the new starting wide receiver has a great chance at three solid games in a row.

Kenny Stills (WR, MIA) - 11% Owned

Don't look too much into Kenny Stills' Week 9 performance--one catch for 11 yards--as he left the game with an illness. He'll face a Chargers' defense Week 10 that might be able to suppress touchdowns but isn't finding similar success with receptions or targets, which gives way to PPR goodness. Look for "Mr. Inconsistent" here to have an acceptable day...assuming his quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, can throw properly. That's a big if these days.

Tyreek Hill (WR, KC) - 12% Owned

Tyreek Hill's Week 9 left a bit to be desired. He caught 3-of-5 targets for 11 yards while rushing twice for 21 yards in a game where the Chiefs' top wide receiver Jeremy Maclin was lifted early due to the same hamstring injury that caused him to missed practice in the week leading to today's game. With quarterback Nick Foles never really able to get going Sunday, Hill really had no chance to take advantage of a missing Maclin. There's hope that if Maclin sits again when the team travels to Carolina Week 10 and Alex Smith returns to center, Hill can produce against a defense that is leading the league in points allowed to wide receivers this season.

Markus Wheaton (WR, PIT) - 8% Owned

A healthy scratch Sunday, wide receiver Markus Wheaton will look to get back on the field Week 10 at home against the Cowboys for the first time since Week 5. There's really no telling just how he fits into the current passing scheme used by the Steelers as the team's official depth chart has him bumped down behind journeyman Darrius Heyward-Bey, but I find it hard to believe the Steelers really think Heyward-Bey is a better option to win if both players are healthy. "Big Ben" didn't look quite himself in his first game back, but I like his and Wheaton's chances against a Cowboys' defense that has allowed the 12th-most points to wide receivers over the past four weeks.

Others: Kendall Wright (15% owned) continues to look like the best receiver on the Titans, yet too often draws attention like a nobody. But he draws a matchup against a very burnable Packers' team that is allowing the ninth-most points to wide receivers this year. There was certainly some hope that Brian Quick (9% owned) would be able to burn the Panthers better than his 4-of-6 for 48 yards line Week 9, but it's hard to ignore the PPR value in a man who has at least 48 yards in six straight games and draws another great matchup Week 10 against the Jets.

PPR Running Back Waiver Wire Adds

C.J. Prosise (RB, SEA) - 16% Owned

This is being written before the Seahawks will have a chance to play the Bills on Monday Night, so hopefully running back C.J. Prosise doesn't do something to negate this. But it is a fairly safe bet that will not happen as him making the deep PPR list has more to do with his matchup than him. The Patriots rank 21st in points allowed to running backs on the year, they rank third in targets allowed and receptions as well as fifth in receiving yards. With head coach Pete Carroll ruling out original starting back Thomas Rawls until at least Week 11, this is not the week to jump off this deep PPR train.

Paul Perkins (RB, NYG) - 6% Owned

I thought I was going to have to disappointingly write about running back Bobby Rainey again. But no, no, no! In Week 9, his fellow Giants' back Paul Perkins found himself not only passing Rainey on the depth chart but splitting time with starter Rashad Jennings, rushing 11 times for 32 yards and catching all three of his targets for 15 yards. If Perkins can split the time again in Week 10 against the Bengals--a team allowing the fourth-most targets and tied for second in passing touchdowns allowed to running backs on the year as well as just being 11th overall--he'll be more than a deep PPR option going forward.

PPR Tight End Waiver Wire Adds

Austin Hooper (TE, ATL) - 13% Owned

Despite being a backup for the majority of the year, rookie tight end Austin Hooper passed starter Jacob Tamme in receiving yards on the season--241 to 210--by catching 3-of-6 targets for 46 yards in Week 9. How long Tamme will be out with this shoulder injury remains to be seen, but that the veteran is being outproduced by Hooper in such a short period of time isn't hard to see. The Eagles make an incredibly difficult matchup for Hooper Week 10 if Tamme is unavailable again, but if quarterback Eli Manning can manage seven targets to his end Will Tye against them in Week 9, the NFL's top passer Matt Ryan can give his end deep PPR value.

Others: Jared Cook (11% owned) returned to practice Week 9 with an eye on returning in Week 10. If he does, he'll be welcomed back by a Titans' team giving up the eighth-most points to tight ends this season. Quarterback Case Keenum deserves a thank you for making sure Lance Kendricks (12% owned) took advantage of a fantastic matchup Week 9 against the Panthers by targeting him 12 times. Now averaging just under 10 targets the past three games, it's hard not to see this friendship continue against a Jets' team that's allowing the 14th-most points to tight ends this season.
