Two-Start Pitcher Streamers for Fantasy Baseball - Week 25

hunter greene fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers pitcher waiver wire

Fantasy baseball waiver wire streamers - starting pitchers with two starts scheduled for the week ahead. Jon's top SP adds and starts to stream in Week 25.

We have a bit of a weird situation here as the MLB regular season runs up through October 5, which is a Wednesday. Different leagues will handle this differently, but I imagine that the majority of leagues that aren't already finished will run the whole through that October 5 day.

Because of these extra three days, we have an absolute ton of pitchers projected to make two starts. I have prepared a table to show which pitchers are projected to make two starts just in that standard week, September 26 through October 2.

As always, this list will be limited to players under 50% rostered in Yahoo leagues and divided into three sections based on recommendation levels: solid starters, risky streamers, and must-avoids.

Best Available Two-Start Pitcher Streamers for 9/26-10/5

Hunter Greene, Cincinnati Reds - 48% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ PIT, vs. CHC

Greene has been striking everybody and their mother out this year, and especially so since returning from the IL. He has had a little bit of trouble getting deep into games, and his pitch count isn't full-go (85-90 pitches typically), but he's so, so talented and the strikeouts are a near sure thing. The matchups here are also elite; there's very little reason to leave Greene on the waiver wire in your league right now.

Eric Lauer, Milwaukee Brewers - 47% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. MIA, vs. ARI

It has been a bumpy road for Lauer since his great start to the year. He's posted a 3.85 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP since July 1, making him a pretty pedestrian pitcher. The strikeout rate has also come way down, just a mark of 20% since July. The matchups here make him worth an add though, as the Marlins really struggle against lefties and the Diamondbacks are about a league-average matchup right now. The Brewers will be playing to win, which is good news for Lauer – so he's a solid add if you need some innings.

Jose Quintana, St. Louis Cardinals - 46% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. PIT, @ PIT

There is no better end of the schedule than what belongs to Quintana. He takes on the anemic Pirates offense twice. It's pretty likely that you can find two quality starts and two wins from Q to finish out your year.

Jon Gray, Texas Rangers - 46% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ SEA, vs. NYY

Not an easy couple of matchups here, but Gray is a very good pitcher. The only reason his ownership is under 50% here is because of the injury he went through and the limited pitch counts since coming back. The pitch count should be up to full-go for these final two starts, and he's the best actual pitcher of anybody we're talking about here.

Hayden Wesneski, Chicago Cubs - 25% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. PHI, @ CIN

He has really impressed in the majors this year with a 28% K% and a 5% BB%. Those are good enough marks for me to feel some confidence. These matchups aren't all that great, but this kid was a former top prospect and he looks capable at the highest level.

Roansy Contreras, Pittsburgh Pirates - 21% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. CIN, @ STL

He is pitching well lately even though the box score results haven't really followed. He is right on the edge here of "solid" vs. "risky", and maybe he should be in the "risky" part given the matchup with the Cardinals, but I think he's talented enough to do well and I have liked what I've seen from him of late.

I am not going to do write-ups for the rest of the pitchers. Below you'll find the pitchers I can consider "risky" or "very risky", but I wouldn't think it's INSANE to stream them in certain league types. Anybody that lines up for two starts that is not mentioned below is just a full "hands-off" for me.

Risky Two-Start Pitcher Streamer Picks

Bailey Falter, Philadelphia Phillies - 27% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ WSH, @ HOU

Marco Gonzales, Seattle Mariners - 43% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. TEX, vs. DET

Bailey Ober, Minnesota Twins - 24% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. CWS, @ DET

Eduardo Rodriguez, Detroit Tigers - 40% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. KC, @ SEA

Jordan Lyles, Baltimore Orioles - 23% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ BOS, @ NYY

Mitch Keller, Pittsburgh Pirates - 2% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. CIN, vs. STL

Luis Cessa, Cincinnati Reds - 4% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ PIT, @ CHC

Kyle Bradish, Baltimore Orioles- 13% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ BOS, @ NYY

Dean Kremer, Baltimore Orioles - 24% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ BOS, vs. TOR

Nick Pivetta, Boston Red Sox - 39% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ TOR, vs. TB

Cole Irvin, Oakland Athletics - 38% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ LAA, vs. LAA

James Kaprielian, Oakland Athletics - 6% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ LAA, @ SEA

Jake Odorizzi, Atlanta Braves - 22% Rostered

Scheduled starts: @ WSH, @ MIA

Domingo German, New York Yankees - 31% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. BAL, @ TEX

Josiah Gray, Washington Nationals - 28% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. ATL, @ NYM

Drew Smyly, Chicago Cubs - 19% Rostered

Scheduled starts: vs. PHI, @ CIN

And that will do it for this year in two-start streamers. I enjoyed finishing up the year with this article, and I really hope I helped some people win their leagues here! We will be back next year, thanks for being here with us!
