Streaming Wars: Waiver Wire Targets for June 23

Kyle Bishop's fantasy baseball daily streaming picks for June 23, 2018. Pitcher and hitter streamers for MLB DFS games, and head-to-head (H2H) waiver wire targets.

Welcome back to Streaming Wars, your one-stop shop for streaming the waiver wire. This article, which began last season, runs seven days a week. We are always ready to stream.

For those who are newcomers to this feature - use this column on a daily basis to improve upon your neediest categories, and target players who may be available on your waiver wire.

Below are your pitcher and hitter streaming targets for Saturday, June 23. Let's get to it.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Agenda

  1. You Must Be The Other Guy
  2. Today's Weather and Updates
  3. Tomorrow's Picks

1. You Must Be The Other Guy

I'm filling in for Brad Johnson today and Monday while he's on vacation. Therefore, any incorrect advice I dispense in this space is ultimately his fault as he was not here to prevent it. Consider the buck officially passed.

2. Today's Weather and Updates - Friday, June 22

Storm systems in the Midwest will jeopardize the chances of the Tigers-Indians, Cubs-Reds, and Athletics-White Sox games being completed without delay or postponement. Orioles-Braves is also under threat of rain. Otherwise, the games should proceed sans meteorological interference.

3. Streamer Picks - Saturday, June 23

Pitchers to Use

Joe Musgrove's ERA nearly doubled after allowing six runs in four innings against the Reds his last time out, which is equal parts a testament to how effective he was in his first four turns and a result of small sample size. The Diamondbacks have struggled offensively on the road and against RHP, making Musgrove a solid bet for a quality outing.

Jordan Lyles has been up-and-down since moving into the rotation last month, but most recently he shut down the high-powered Braves lineup with seven innings of one-run ball. Proneness to the long ball has been a driving force behind the volatility, but he'll take on a Giants squad that ranks in the bottom third of the league in homers at notoriously pitcher-friendly AT&T Park.

Other Targets: Dylan Covey, Andrew Heaney

Pitchers to Exploit

Saturday's slate features the league's top three scoring teams against lousy pitchers. Wilmer Font, who's already on his third team of 2018, will deal with the Yankees. It's at the Trop rather than Yankee Stadium, but that's cold comfort. Mike Leake will face the Red Sox for the second straight start, this time at Fenway; he allowed five runs in six innings at home against them last Sunday. Finally, Ian Kennedy and his complete inability to keep the ball in the yard will contend with the Astros.

Other Targets: Marcus Stroman, Trevor Richards, Tyler Anderson

Homers on the Wire

Derek Dietrich hasn't gone deep in almost two weeks, but he'll be at Coors against HR machine Tyler Anderson. The Marlins are last in the league in homers, so they don't have a ton of attractive options here. Outside of Dietrich, Justin Bour and Lewis Brinson are your best bets for a quick Miami power infusion off the waiver wire.

Other Targets: Jurickson Profar, Franmil Reyes, Christian Villanueva, Michael Conforto, Albert Pujols, Aaron Hicks, Daniel Palka, Carlos Gonzalez, Teoscar Hernandez, Jeimer Candelario, Michael Conforto

Steals on the Wire

The Twins don't have many stolen base threats with Byron Buxton hurt and Brian Dozier not running as much as in years past. They are, however, taking on the Rangers, who are the worst team in MLB at controlling the run game. Ehire Adrianza has been playing regularly and is the likeliest Minnesota player to test the Texas battery.

Other Targets: Mallex SmithJarrod Dyson, Jonathan VillarDustin FowlerDenard SpanDelino DeShields, Jose Peraza, Manuel Margot
