Recent Update

4/27:Texas Rangers outfielder Delino DeShields got an opportunity to lead off in Wednesday's game against the Twins and didn't disappoint, going 2-for-3 with three walks and two stolen bases. While he doesn't offer any power to speak off, his ability to get on base and swipe bags is what made him a trendy pick in some circles before draft day. There is no word on if DeShields will get another start off the back of this performance, but prospective owners should be ready to pounce if he starts playing consistently, as he could be a major asset at the top of the lineup, particularly in on-base percentage leagues.--Christopher Olson - RotoBaller

  • @JeffWilson_FWST: #RangersReaction votes "aye" for more Delino DeShields. Who wouldn't after Wednesday?
  • @Evan_P_Grant: Full Rangers column: Making lineup changes based on one game is impulsive. Except when it's warranted:
  • @Evan_P_Grant: Early column: Carpe Diem, Delino DeShields
  • @JeffWilson_FWST: #Rangers win 14-3 to avoid three-game sweep. Big night for Delino DeShields. Ryan Rua with a grand slam. Shin-Soo Choo 3B, HR in the eighth.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: Ryan Rua just hit a grand slam. And he's not been the best offensive player in the game for the Rangers. It's DeShields.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: 17th time a Rangers leadoff hitter has reached in all 5 of his plate appearances. Last to do it: DeShields in 2015.
  • @JeffWilson_FWST: RBI single for Delino DeShields in the ninth makes it 7-3 #Rangers. He has reached all five times tonight. Gosh, Gee, imagine that.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: What I wrote about DeShields prior to this game and his belief in himself:
  • @JeffWilson_FWST: Elvis Andrus with a two-run single after falling behind in the count. #Rangers up 5-2. Delino DeShields outruns throw home for second run.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: A 2-strike single for Andrus past drawn-in infield. Two runs score on the shallow ground ball because trail runner was DeShields.
  • @JeffWilson_FWST: #Rangers have bases loaded with one out in sixth after Delino DeShields walks for third time tonight. He's reached all four times.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: 3rd walk of day for DeShields. Big night for him. He trusted himself even in struggles. Showing up tonight.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: What should not be overlooked tonight: DeShields on base 3x from leadoff spot.
  • @JeffWilson_FWST: Two walks and a single for leadoff man Delino DeShields, the #Rangers' spring MVP. Gosh, imagine that. (One running blunder, though.)
  • @Evan_P_Grant: DeShields leads off with a single. Good idea to steal 2B here against Gimenez. Then wait for the offense.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: Then DeShields is thrown out at third. Rangers trying too hard to make something happen.
  • @JeffWilson_FWST: Delino DeShields draws a lead-off walk and quickly steals second base. Gee, imagine that.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: DeShields walks. Steals second. Spring Delino.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: DeShields & Rua both play vs. Minnesota LHP Hector Santiago.
  • @Evan_P_Grant: Delino DeShields sits and waits for his chance o play regularly for Rangers:
  • @Sullivan_Ranger: Rangers giving Ryan Rua an extended chance in left field over Profar and DeShields
  • @PeasESPN: Heroics by Delino DeShields and the Rangers win 1-0 Postgame Show starts now on @1033fmESPN
