Miami Marlins starting pitcher
Edward Cabrera (elbow) appears to have avoided any major injuries. The MRI on Cabrera came back clean, so there's no structural damage done to his elbow. The right-hander was forced to make an early exit from Friday's start. The organization is hopeful that Cabrera is able to avoid a trip to the injured list. Luckily, Cabrera will get an extended week off with the All-Star break beginning on Monday. The Marlins will likely wait and see how Cabrera feels after a few days before making any further decisions.

James Wood will head to the bench for Sunday's series finale on the road in Milwaukee versus Brewers right-hander

Alex Call draws into the starting lineup in left field and will hit second against Peralta. The Nats will give Wood a day off heading into next week's All-Star break after he started in 174 straight games since joining the big-league roster. It makes sense, as the 22-year-old left-handed slugger will take part in the Home Run Derby and the All-Star game this coming week. The former second-rounder is one of the best young hitters in the game, but he's also gone hitless in his last three games and is batting .244 (10-for-41) with two home runs, five RBI, seven runs and a steal in 11 games in the month of July. Call has only faced Peralta once in his career and has only two homers in 175 at-bats in 2025.
