Nico Iamaleava Struggles In Fourth Straight Loss
UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava struggled to get the offense going in a 35-10 loss to New Mexico. Dating back to last season, this is now the sophomore's fourth straight loss. Iamaleava completed 22-of-34 pass attempts for 217 yards with one touchdown and an interception. He also scrambled six times for 33 yards. The former five-star had some flashy throws, including a dart to receiver Mikey Matthews early in the game, but it is clear that he still needs a lot of development to his game. UCLA has now dropped back-to-back games to G5 opponents, putting the Bruins in a tough spot heading into Big Ten play in two weeks. UCLA will be on a bye next week, followed by what feels like a must-win game at Northwestern on Saturday, September 27.
