Will De'Von Achane Miss Week 1? Fantasy Football Outlook, Injury Update

De'Von Achane - Fantasy Football Rankings, NFL DFS Picks, Injury News

Will De'Von Achane miss Week 1, or is he healthy enough to play? Andy's latest 2025 fantasy football outlook and De'Von Achane injury update for Week 1.

Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane enjoyed a breakout season in his sophomore campaign, serving as Miami's clear workhorse back. After being deployed in a limited role as a rookie, Achane proved he can take on a full workload in his second season.

However, the former third-round pick has recently suffered an injury and could be in danger of missing the season opener.

Will Achane be healthy before the season begins? Will Achane play in Week 1?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

De'Von Achane Fantasy Football Injury Update

Achane is currently dealing with a calf injury. Following their preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Mike McDaniel noted that the team is taking a "cautious" approach regarding their RB1.

However, on Tuesday, August 26, David Furones of the Sun Sentinel reported that the running back was still being held out of practice.

While there is still ample time for Achane to return to the field, seeing him continue to remain sidelined is not a positive sign for his current injury outlook.

Will De'Von Achane Play In Week 1?

As of now, the starting running has not been ruled out for their season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. However, fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status, as another week of missing practice could indicate he is at risk of missing the season opener.

Although many reports suggest that even though Achane is being closely monitored, he has not faced any setbacks, which is an excellent sign for his early-season availability. If Achane can return to practice, even in a limited capacity, before the end of the week, it should put him in a great position to suit up in Week 1.

De'Von Achane Fantasy Football Outlook

While this recent injury may deter managers from selecting Achane in the first round, given the team's emphasis on minimizing his workload, managers should not be discouraged from drafting him. When healthy, Achane is among the elite tier of fantasy running backs.

Last season, serving as the clear RB1 in the Miami offense, Achane was an elite three-down back, catching 78 passes and running the ball 203 times. He combined for 1,499 scrimmage yards and punched in 12 scores. In addition to his volume, Achane has been uber efficient with the ball in his hands, posting a stellar 4.5 YPC and a 7.6 YPR last season.

As a rookie, Achane posted a remarkable 7.8 YPC with a 7.3 YPR.

During the final 11 games of the 2024 campaign, Achane averaged an elite 20.0 PPR points per game with 58.8 rushing yards and 36.2 receiving yards per game.

With Tyreek Hill (oblique) dealing with his own injury and nearing the end of his career, and Jonnu Smith departing for Pittsburgh, Achane could slot in as the No. 2 option in the offense alongside Jaylen Waddle for the majority of the season.

He remains a top pick at the end of the first round in all fantasy formats that should contend for RB1 status alongside the top individuals at the position.
