LCK & LPL DFS Picks for 7/16/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends

Billy Hoffer’s League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL, and LCK slates on 7/16/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Hello, eSports enthusiasts, and welcome back to our continued eSports DFS coverage of League of Legends for DraftKings and FanDuel!

My name is Billy Hoffer and I'm really excited to be making my debut as an eSports analyst here at Rotoballer this week. I'm a big fan of LOL, CSGO, and COD and have been a DFS grinder for some time now. I realize I have some big shoes to fill as I fill in for the esteemed Mr. Malmanger with these LPL and LCK picks, but I am going to do my best to give you high-quality analysis and actionable advice for tomorrow morning's DFS slate.

I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK/LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 4:00 AM on Thursday, July 16th, 2020. Make sure you follow me on Twitter @Hofferkid!

LCK Matches

T1 (-375) vs. kt Rolster

T1 comes into this match-up at 5-3 and fourth in the LCK. On the other side, kt Rolster sits at 3-5 and is eighth in the LCK. T1 holds the better first turret rate, while kt has the better first blood percentage. T1 has the better dragon and baron rates, with kt holding a herald advantage. Both of these teams have had some struggles so far this split but I like T1 to right the ship here and get back on track. Canna has the best individual lane match-up here and like I always say, I would lock him in at TOP and move on. He is a staple in my lineups night in and night out.

Though Faker has looked rocky at times this split, I like this as a spot for him to get right with a lane match-up that he should have no problem with. If kt wants a chance in this one, it is going to have to come from Aiming. Unfortunately for him, he has a very tough match-up in Teddy and I don't think Aiming can provide enough of a carry to get the job done here. I'll take T1 2-1 and I like them as my small stack or one-off.

The pick: 2-1 T1

Top T1 plays:

  • Canna - TOP
  • Teddy - ADC
  • Faker - MID
  • T1 Team Slot

Sandbox Gaming (-290) vs. SeolHaeOne Prince

Sandbox currently stands at 3-5 and seventh in the LCK. This team started 0-5 and has won their last three straight. SHO sits at 1-7 and ninth in the LCK. SB has an edge in first turret rate, while SHO has the first blood edge. SB holds the advantage in dragon and herald rates, with barons being even between the two. SB also holds a hefty advantage in vision. Sandbox got their coach back three games ago, they are 3-0 in that time frame with wins over Team Dynamics, Hanwha Life, and kt Rolster. I like them to win here in sweep fashion.

SHO has died an average of 16.1 times per game this split (including their win). That is a solid number that I expect SB to take full advantage of here. I like Sandbox as a four-man stack and I plan to load up. If you don't want to full stack this team, I would at least get a piece or two as I expect this squad to post some solid scores. I am not going to touch much on individual lane match-ups in this one because they all favor Sandbox pretty heavily. Lock these guys in with confidence.

The pick: Sandbox Gaming, 2-0

Top SBG plays:

  • Route - ADC
  • OnFleek - JNG
  • Summit - TOP
  • Fate - MID
  • SBG Team Slot

LPL Matches

Invictus Gaming (-600) vs. LNG Esports

IG comes into this one at 7-3 and fourth in the LPL. Meanwhile, LNG sits at 2-8 and 14th in the LPL. IG holds the first turret advantage, while LNG has the better first blood percentage. IG also has the better dragon and baron rates, with LNG having a herald advantage. IG will be the obvious chalk of the night, and that phrase by itself worries me. IG as chalk does not seem to always go well.

The kill total in this game has me concerned as well, LNG often tries to sit back and scale for the late-game when playing teams they know they are worse than. Often times this leads to low-kill wins for the opposing team. I definitely don't mind having some IG pieces as the JNG/MID duo of Ning and Rookie are my two favorites. Yes, you can play a four-man IG stack, but just know it will be very chalky and that a 20-25 kill sweep is very possible.

The pick: Invictus Gaming, 2-0

Top IG plays:

  • Rookie - MID
  • Ning - JNG
  • Puff - ADC
  • TheShy - TOP

Suning Gaming (-125) vs. Royal Never Give Up (-110)

Suning comes in as very slight favorites and sit at 7-3 and fourth in the LPL. RNG stands at 5-4 and eighth in the LPL. Suning has the first turret edge, with first blood percentage being in favor of RNG. Suning holds the advantage in all three neutral objectives (dragons, heralds, barons). Suning is also on a five-series win streak. But four of those five wins have come against bottom feeder teams (RW, DMO, eStar, BLG). However, they did sweep LGD. I think Suning's stats are inflated due to the soft strength of schedule, but I do think Suning is a good team who will make playoffs and have a shot at doing some damage.

These are the kind of games we see RNG come out on top. I think XLB can control the jungle in his match-up with Sofm. Bot lane will obviously be a question mark for RNG as that is where Suning thrives. I like what I have seen from GALA from these last few games enough to think they he can hold his own against huanfeng. I know we have seen RNG slow the pace a bit at times this split, but Suning dies a lot in losses. I think Suning makes this a close one, but i'll roll with the slight dog here and take RNG to win 2-1.

The pick: Royal Never Give Up, 2-1

Top RNG plays:

  • XLB - JNG
  • GALA - ADC
  • Xiaohu - MID
  • Ming - SUP

Summary

  1. Sandbox is my favorite stack of the night and I would recommend getting exposure in all formats
  2. RNG is a good GPP play on this slate, I feel like many people will just fade that game due to the spread being so close.
  3. SUP is a very ugly position on this slate, I would recommend taking GorrilA or Ming
