LCK & LPL DFS Picks for 7/15/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends

Billy Hoffer’s League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL, and LCK slates on 7/15/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Hello, eSports enthusiasts, and welcome back to our continued eSports DFS coverage of League of Legends for DraftKings and FanDuel!

My name is Billy Hoffer and I'm really excited to be making my debut as an eSports analyst here at Rotoballer this week. I'm a big fan of LOL, CSGO, and COD and have been a DFS grinder for some time now. I realize I have some big shoes to fill as I fill in for the esteemed Mr. Malmanger with these LPL and LCK picks, but I am going to do my best to give you high-quality analysis and actionable advice for tomorrow morning's DFS slate.

I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK/LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 4:00 AM on Wednesday, July 15th, 2020. Make sure you follow me on Twitter @Hofferkid!

LCK Matches

Gen. G (-300) vs. Afreeca Freecs

Gen. G comes into this match at 6-2 and in second place in the LCK while the Freecs stand at 5-3 and in fifth. Gen holds the advantage in first turret as well as first blood percentage. Gen also has the edge in all three of the neutral objective rates (dragon, herald, baron). A main reason I think Gen takes this one is because of the early game play. Gen. G holds a +1052 gold differential at 15 minutes. While the Freecs sit at a -823 in the first 15 minutes.

I really like the Freecs as a team, but I think Gen outplays them here. I'll give the Freecs a game though and predict a 2-1 win for Gen. G. Bdd has the best individual lane match-up from this game and he is my favorite from the side of Gen. I am not expecting a very bloody series here, and with that being said I would try to limit my exposure from this game to small stacks, or just fade it entirely.

The pick: Gen. G, 2-1

Top Gen. G plays:

  • Bdd - MID
  • Clid - JNG
  • Ruler - ADC

DAMWON Gaming (-950) vs. Team Dynamics

Damwon comes into this one at 6-2 having lost only to DRX and GenG. Meanwhile, TD sits at 4-4 and in sixth place in the LCK. Damwon has been really impressive this split, with 2-0 sweeps in every win and has taken a game in each of their losses.  DWG holds the first turret advantage, while TD has a slight first blood percentage advantage. DWG holds a huge herald advantage, while TD barely edges them in dragon and baron rates.

Damwon is much better early as they hold a +2679 gold differential at 15 minutes while TD sits at -107. Ultimately, I think DWG has an huge edge in the MID and BOT lanes. I expect Nuguri to have some troubles with Rich in the TOP lane as I believe Rich is a very solid player. Showmaker should have his way with Kuzan in the MID lane. I'm expecting DWG to get ahead early here and never look back. They will be a chalkier option on this slate, but I am totally fine with prioritizing them as your four-man and would recommend at least a small stack.

The pick: DWG 2-0

Top DWG plays:

  • Showmaker - MID
  • BeryL - SUP
  • Ghost - ADC
  • Canyon - JNG
  • DWG Team Slot

LPL Matches

eStar (-125) vs. Oh My God (-115)

This game opened up as a pick ‘em and now eSat is a slight favorite. Keep an eye on this line as I could see move back towards OMG at some point. eStar sits at 2-8 and 15th in the LPL. OMG comes in at 3-6 and 11th in the LPL. eStar holds the advantage in both first turret and first blood percentage. OMG holds the herald advantage, with eStar having a slight dragon and baron advantage. ES also has a slight vision edge. I think this game gives us the highest scoring team of the night.

This one was really hard to pick, but i'll take eStar, 2-1. The BOT lane will be eStar's biggest advantage. Wink and ShiauC severely out match Smlz and Cold in my opinion. MID lane goes the way of OMG, with Icon having an edge over Fenfen. I believe the jungle also favors eStar, with the TOP lane being a toss-up. I am totally fine with playing either side of this game, if going to OMG, Icon, H4cker, and Curse are my favorites. I believe getting a four-man stack from this game is the way to go, but I also expect lower ownership because people will just flock towards the heavier favorites. On FD, eStar will be unowned as a full stack because people are scared to leave salary on the table. Get some pieces of this game for sure.

Note: Just found out Rat is in for Wink tonight. This is a small downgrade for ES in my opinion and decreases the big advantage they had in the BOT lane. I would assume that Rat comes with sub risk so I would proceed with caution. This makes my eStar pick feel a bit more sketchy, but i'll stick with them, 2-1

The pick: eStar, 2-1

Top eStar plays:

  • Wei - JNG
  • ShiauC - SUP
  • Rat - ADC
  • Fenfen - MID

Top OMG Plays:

  • Icon - MID
  • H4cker - JNG
  • Curse - TOP
  • Smlz - ADC

JD Gaming (-345) vs. Vici Gaming

JDG stands at 7-2 and third in the LPL coming into this one. Vici on the other hand sits at 5-3 and seventh in the LPL. Vici is coming in hot, having won their last four in a row including a nice upset win over FPX. Vici holds the advantage in both first turret and first blood percentage. Vici also has the better dragon and herald rates with baron rates favoring JDG. Vici also holds a considerable vision advantage.

I look at these numbers and think "wow this is a great potential upset spot,” but let’s just take a moment to review the schedule for Vici thus far. They have wins over FPX (9th in LPL), Rogue Warriors (16th in LPL), eStar (15th in LPL), LNG (14th in LPL), and BLG (11th in LPL). So yeah, not what I would call "quality wins" by any means. These numbers for Vici are clearly inflated by their soft schedule so far this split. Kanavi is in a great spot going up against Leyan in the jungle (who loves to die). Zoom is my favorite TOP laner on the slate and I think his ceiling is significantly higher than any other TOP out there. I like JDG to sweep here and don't mind a four-man stack at all. There are a lot of teams on this slate that are all totally viable as a four-man stack and I would say JDG ranks in the middle of the four teams that I like.

The pick: JD Gaming, 2-0

Top JDG plays:

  • Kanavi - JNG
  • Zoom - TOP
  • LokeN - ADC
  • LvMao - SUP

Summary

  1. ES/OMG is the toughest game to predict on the night but also should produce solid fantasy numbers, get some pieces from either side.
  2. DWG/ES is probably my favorite pairing on the slate, with JDG/ES not far behind.
  3. I don’t like recommending all the favorites but I don’t really see any of the underdogs winning tonight outside of whoever ends up as the dog in the OMG/EStar match.
