Although it’s only Week 1, the injury report is already full of names heading into Sunday. While some of the tight ends who are already ruled out or at risk of not playing aren’t the most productive, others could benefit significantly.
Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football. Now that the regular season has begun, fantasy managers should stay locked into the latest injury headlines.

Kyle Pitts Injury Update
With Kirk Cousins under center in Atlanta, most are banking on Pitts having the best season of his career after accumulating just six touchdowns over the years. Managers were excited about the potential of selecting him in fantasy drafts.
However, that enthusiasm disappeared quickly after he appeared on Wednesday’s injury report because of a hamstring injury.
Fortunately, the 23-year-old wasn’t listed on the Falcons’ injury report on Friday, so he’ll be good to go for the meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fantasy managers in nearly all formats should consider him a must-start.
Hunter Henry Injury Update
Henry participated fully in practices throughout the week despite being added to the Patriots’ injury report because of a foot ailment. He finished last season by compiling 42 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns.
#Patriots RB Antonio Gibson (hip) is questionable for Sunday's game vs. Cincinnati, while TE Hunter Henry has been removed from the report and is good to go.

Those numbers aren’t expected to improve this season. While Henry has the green light for Sunday's game against the Bengals, he’s not likely to see much attention in any fantasy setup, especially with so many questions surrounding the Patriots' offense.
Ian Thomas / Tommy Tremble Injury Update
Thomas has a calf injury, and Tremble has battled hamstring and back issues. As a result, neither player practiced during the week, so fantasy participants weren’t surprised when Carolina announced they wouldn’t play in Week 1 against the Saints.
With that said, nobody expected big things from either player on Sunday. Yet, their absences will allow rookies Ja'Tavion Sanders and Jordan Matthews to get involved, although the former has a higher upside.
Noah Fant Injury Update
Fant wasn’t a lock to play in Week 1 versus the Denver Broncos. While any injury is concerning, it appears the toe issue won’t be enough to keep him off the field for the opener.
With Pharaoh Brown ruled out, there’s a chance Fant gets a few more snaps. Yet, he’s not worthy of a spot in most fantasy starting lineups.
Brock Bowers Injury Update
There is plenty of hype surrounding Bowers heading into the season. As a result, he received attention from fantasy managers during drafts over the last few months.
However, a foot issue burdened the rookie throughout most of training camp, and he was also limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

While Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce indicated earlier in the week that Bowers would play versus the Chargers, most were relieved once his injury designation was officially removed heading into the opener.
With that in mind, Bowers is certainly expected to be one of the National Football League’s most potent rookies this year. Yet, the Raiders offense is a work in progress, making Bowers a risky fantasy option from week to week.
Sam LaPorta Injury Update
Despite LaPorta being a rookie last season, he still finished as the best fantasy tight end. He appeared in 17 games for the Lions, pulling in 86 of his 120 targets for 889 yards and a whopping 10 touchdowns.
Because of the productive year, fantasy managers anticipate big things from the 23-year-old during the 2024-25 campaign. LaPorta has dealt with a bum hamstring over the last week or two.
Fortunately, he will suit up on Sunday evening versus the Rams. Without a doubt, he’s a must-start in all fantasy setups.
