Chicago White Sox pitching prospect
Noah Schultz (knee) returned to the mound at Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday for the first time since July 3. Chicago's second-ranked prospect felt discomfort in his knee while warming up for his start on July 19, but appears to have made a full recovery. The 6-foot-10 southpaw only went two innings on Sunday, allowing one run (zero earned) on two hits and no walks while striking out four batters. The former first-rounder pitched well at Double-A to begin the year, but had a rude awakening at Triple-A, allowing 15 earned runs in 11 1/3 innings pitched over his first three starts there. Regardless, fantasy managers should expect the 22-year-old to make a debut in the big leagues next year and should be an impactful starter with his big frame.

St. Louis Cardinals shortstop prospect
J.J. Wetherholt has not slowed down at Triple-A, going 3-for-4 on Saturday, including a walk, two doubles, and one run scored for Memphis. The Cardinals' top-ranked prospect has looked right at home at Triple-A, hitting .316 with a 1.055 OPS in 30 games at that level. Additionally, he's recorded seven starts at third base since his promotion, giving him multiple paths to the majors as we head down the final month of the regular season. With 19 steals on the year, he has some speed as well, and the 22-year-old is worthy of a stash in deep 12-team leagues for those with an available bench or NA spot.

Texas Rangers corner infielder
Jake Burger (wrist) has begun swinging a bat as part of a hitting progression. This is a step forward in his recovery process that will likely still take another week or so. Burger landed on the injured list on August 18 due a left wrist sprain. The hope is that he's ready to play around the 10-day mark, so it should hopefully be a minimal stint on the injured list.
Rowdy Tellez and
Ezequiel Duran should continue splitting up the plate appearances at first base until Burger is back.

Seattle Mariners outfield prospect
Lazaro Montes homered for the fourth time in his last four games on Saturday at Double-A Arkansas, which has also included six RBI and six runs scored over that stretch. The Mariners' third-ranked prospect is up to 32 home runs on the season, which is tied for the minor league lead. He's hitting just .224 with a 30.7 percent strikeout rate with Arkansas through 46 games, but has continued to draw walks at an above-average rate of 13.1 percent to help offset that. The 20-year-old needs to cut down on the K%, but his power is what will eventually propel him to the big leagues, which could come as soon as later next year or 2027.

Houston Astros designated hitter
Yordan Alvarez (hand) has a strong possibility of returning for Tuesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, according to manager Joe Espada. Alvarez is currently on track to play his fourth and likely his final rehab game with Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday. Barring any setbacks, Alvarez should be ready for the beginning of their series against the Rockies. Alvarez has been sidelined since early May due to a fractured right hand. Fantasy managers should check back on Tuesday, but they should be able to get Alvarez back in their lineups early in the week

New York Mets pitching prospect
Brandon Sproat is getting a look at reliever and is expected to come out of the bullpen on Saturday for Triple-A Syracuse. The reason behind the shift is to give the 24-year-old some experience coming on in relief in the event that is what the Mets determine they need from him as they make a push for the playoffs. The Mets' fifth-ranked prospect owns a 4.24 ERA and 1.23 WHIP through 24 starts at Triple-A this season, but has pitched better since late June, recording a 2.05 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP, and a 21.3 percent K-BB% over his last nine starts. The righty allowed one run or less in six of those nine starts. While it is exciting for youngsters to get their shot in the majors, if Sproat's opportunity this season comes as a middle reliever, it would certainly dampen his fantasy value in 2025 redraft leagues, although his future as a starter for dynasty leagues remains bright.

Boston Red Sox starting pitchers
Richard Fitts and
Kyle Harrison are both candidates to take the mound for Monday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The Red Sox are looking for a pitcher to fill the void in the rotation with
Walker Buehler heading to the bullpen. It would make the most sense for the Red Sox to start Fitts, who is already on the roster. They recalled him as an extra bullpen arm for their series against the New York Yankees. Fitts holds a 4.83 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and a 34/13 K/BB across 10 starts this season. Otherwise, Harrison would need to be recalled from Triple-A to make his team debut. He was traded to Boston in the deal that sent
Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants earlier this summer. Both pitchers would offer low-end streaming appeal for fantasy managers.

Ian Seymour will take the mound for Monday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. The Rays have decided to push back
Shane Baz another day in an effort to give him extra rest. Seymour is set to take the vacant rotation spot left by
Joe Boyle who was optioned to the minors earlier this week. Seymour has a 3.86 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and a 26/8 K/BB ratio across 12 appearances this season. The southpaw hasn't made any starts in the MLB, but was a full-time starter in Triple-A. He'll offer some low-end streaming appeal for Monday's slate

New York Mets pitching prospect Jonah Tong has pitched so well this season, especially in his two recent starts at Triple-A, that he is increasingly becoming one of the team's considerations for a September call-up. The Mets' fourth-ranked prospect leads all minor leaguers in strikeouts with 179, posting a 1.43 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 22 starts this year, which includes his only two starts at Triple-A in which the righty has thrown 11 2/3 shutout innings with a 17:3 K:BB. With a debut possible within the next month, the 22-year-old would become a top prospect stash in redraft leagues, so managers with an available bench spot or an NA slot should consider snagging him off the waiver wire ahead of a potential call-up.

Jacob deGrom (shoulder) is scheduled to take the mound against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday. The veteran right-hander was skipped in the rotation the last time through due to shoulder fatigue. He was able to throw a bullpen session without any issues on Saturday. Now, deGrom has been cleared to take the mound on Monday. He holds a 2.76 ERA, 0.93 WHIP, and a 148/30 K/BB ratio across 24 starts this season. Fantasy managers should make sure to get him starting on Monday.

Mike Tauchman (lower body) is back in the lineup on Sunday and leading off against Minnesota Twins right-hander
Taj Bradley. The 34-year-old missed Chicago's 7-3 win on Saturday as a result of lower-body soreness. Tauchman hasn't done much over 18 games in August, having hit .221/.354/.279 with one homer, five RBI, six runs scored, and 14 walks. He has put together a more respectable .273/.367/.423 line with eight HRs, 34 RBI, and 35 runs in 308 plate appearances this season. Tauchman has gone 0-for-6 against Bradley, a former Tampa Bay Ray who's set to make his Twins debut.

Brandon Woodruff had been in line to toe the rubber, but he'll instead face the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. Patrick, a 27-year-old rookie, has made 20 appearances (19 starts) and posted a 3.61 ERA with a 1.30 WHIP and 99:32 K:BB over 99 2/3 innings this season. Brice Turang (wrist) is back in the lineup and batting sixth on Sunday against San Francisco Giants left-hander
Robbie Ray. Turang missed the Brewers' 7-1 loss on Saturday after he took a pitch off the wrist on Friday, but fortunately, he avoided a serious injury. While the 25-year-old speedster is nowhere near last season's 50-steal pace, he has otherwise put up far better numbers than he did in 2024. Turang is slashing .286/.352/.428 with 14 homers, 64 RBI, 78 runs scored, and 21 steals over 522 plate appearances. So far in August, Turang has hit a sizzling .365/.420/.770 with eight HRs, 20 RBI, 16 runs, and two steals.

Miami Marlins shortstop
Otto Lopez (illness) is returning to the starting lineup on Sunday against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander
Kevin Gausman. Lopez, who's hitting fifth, is making his first start since Tuesday. However, he did return from illness on Saturday as a bench player in a 7-6 loss to the Blue Jays. Lopez entered as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh inning and delivered an RBI single. He finished 1-for-3 in a game that went 12 innings. Hits have been hard to come by in August for Lopez, who has gone just 14-for-74 (.189) in 80 homer-less plate appearances this month.
