LCK & LPL DFS Picks for 7/23/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends

Billy Hoffer’s League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL, and LCK slates on 7/23/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Hello, eSports enthusiasts, and welcome back to our continued eSports DFS coverage of League of Legends for DraftKings and FanDuel! Last night EStar let me down as we saw the red hot Rogue Warriors stomp them in a 2-0 sweep, while Team WE came back from a disappointing first game loss for the reverse sweep of BLG with an emphatic game three bludgeoning.

We finally have the return of the LCK and therefore a return to four-game slates, which I enjoy so much more than the two-gamers. We have a lot of heavy favorites tonight so it is likely going to be about picking the right favorites to stack instead of getting too cute and looking for leverage with underdogs. As always, I am going to do my best to give you high-quality analysis and actionable advice for tomorrow morning's DFS slate.

Today I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK/LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 4:00 AM on Thursday, July 23rd, 2020. If you're not already, then make sure you follow me on Twitter @Hofferkid!

LCK Matches

DragonX (-700) vs. KT Rolster

DRX comes into this one having only one loss on the split and it came against this very KT Rolster squad. KT is coming off a 2-0 sweep of Sandbox in their last match-up. KT has advantages in both first turret and first blood percentages. DRX has better dragon and baron rates, with KT having the herald advantage. DRX also holds a much better gold differential at 15 minutes (+1440). KT took the first match between these two, but I'm calling a fluke on that. I think DRX come out a little pissed off in this one and handle KT fairly easy, in sweep fashion. KT has 20 and 19 kills in both their wins over DRX and I do expect this one to have a fair amount of blood as both of these teams are not shy of fighting. I like DRX as a pivot off of a TES four-man as they will be universally owned. I am heavily prioritizing the bot lane duo of Deft and Keria as both of them hold a Kill Participation rate of over 72% with Deft also having the highest damage percentage on this DRX squad. Chovy is in a great spot as well as he should be able to dominate his lane match-up against kurO. I'll take DRX 2-0 here, and I love them as a lower-owned four-man stack as they possess a lot of upside in this match-up.

The pick: DRX, 2-0

Top DRX plays:

  • Pyosik - JNG
  • Deft - ADC
  • Keria - SUP
  • Chovy - MID

Gen. G (-850) vs. Team Dynamics

Gen. G has won four in a row as well as eight of their last nine. Team Dynamics has been cold as of late losing five of their last six. Gen. G has the edge in first turret rate as well as first blood percentage. Gen also holds advantages in all three neutral objectives (Dragons, Heralds, Barons). They also hold a slight vision advantage. Gen. G owns every single statistical category here, and I expect the match to play out just as the numbers say they should. Gen. G Team Slot is in an elite spot here as they should rack up objectives and get the sweep bonus as well. I do worry about the upside of a full-stack here as TD does not die a ton. Ruler is the best play on this Gen squad tonight and he holds a very high damage rate of 33.2%. Gen. G has advantages in every individual lane except top where it looks to be even. I would recommend going with your small stack or one-off from this game, but a Gen. G four-man will likely be criminally under-owned here so I do not mind taking a shot on that. If you choose to do that, Ruler, Bdd, and Clid are my three favorites from the side of Gen. G, with the team slot likely being my fourth piece.

The pick: Gen. G, 2-0

Top Gen. G plays:

  • Gen. G team slot
  • Ruler - ADC
  • Bdd - MID

LPL Matches

Top Esports (-2500) vs. Dominus Esports

Well, how would you guys like me to analyze this one? TES is the class of the LPL and likely the best team in the world. Meanwhile, DMO is 1-10 and is far and away the worst team in the LPL (well I guess LNG is close but don't worry we get to talk about them next). TES has a better first turret rate as well as first blood percentage and holds significant advantages in all three of the neutral objectives. TES also has an edge in vision and a much better gold differential at the 15-minute mark (+1600). DMO is severely outmatched in every lane. Twila will likely just lay down and die as he gets ready to take on the best mid-laner in the world, knight. 369 is likely my favorite top-laner on the board here. DMO has a zero percent chance of winning this as they can't team fight, can't really draft, and have zero neutral objective control. TES will be the chalkiest team of the night I'm assuming. They have very high price tags on both sites and you cannot go double ADC and still fit a full TES stack. I likely will be under the field here and that may end up costing me, but on a slate like this where we have four large favorites, it's all about picking the right teams to stack along with the right pieces as we likely get four sweeps tonight, or at least three.

The pick: Top Esports, 2-0

Top TES plays:

  • knight - MID
  • 369 - TOP
  • Yuyanjia - SUP
  • Jackeylove - ADC

JD Gaming (-1800) vs. LNG Esports

Another match on this slate and another really big spread. JDG sits at 9-2 while LNG has lost eight in a row and have had absolutely no momentum in a long time. I'll bring you guys my upset special of the night here and take LNG 2-1! Just kidding, LNG has just as much of a chance to win as DMO does, slim to none. JDG has the advantages in both first turret and first blood percentages. JDG holds better dragon and baron rates, with LNG having a slightly better herald rate. Kanavi will absolutely shred Xx in the jungle as this is a best vs. worst in the league match-up. Zoom will do as he pleases with Flandre as he is washed up. The bot lane match-up does not make things look any better for LNG either. It was tough to decide who to prioritize JDG on the stacking ladder, but whenever LNG matches up against really good teams, they tend to just draft a scaling composition and sit back until the late game not forcing many fights at all. Yes, I do see a path for a 40 kill sweep here for JDG and I actually like them a fair amount given how they are priced so high and the high priced ownership will likely flock to TES for the most part. I am worried about kill upside here but anytime I think I can get JDG at a discounted ownership, I will gladly do so.

The pick: JD Gaming, 2-0

Top JDG plays:

  • Kanavi - JNG
  • Zoom - TOP
  • LokeN - ADC
  • LvMao - SUP

Summary

  1. Four extreme favorites here means picking the right stack is very important, it's tough to rank them but taking into account ownership and upside, my order is DRX, JDG, TES, GEN. G.
  2. For FD players, my favorite one-off on the slate is Ruler (if you can afford double ADC).
  3. This will likely be a very high scoring slate so picking the right stacks is ultra important.
