Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for FanDuel and DraftKings!
We have a four-match slate on Friday with every three very close spreads and the top four teams in the league all playing on one slate. FanDuel may have nixed their COD contests but there are plenty to choose from on DraftKings.
Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Friday, July 24th, 2020 at 4:00 PM EST. Call of Duty: Toronto Home Series (Best of 5)
- Minnesota ROKKR vs. Atlanta FaZe (-500)
- Florida Mutineers vs. Dallas Empire (-170)
- Seattle Surge vs. Chicago Huntsman (-1000)
- Toronto Ultra (-105) vs. OpTic Gaming LA (-125)
COD DFS Basics
- Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is K/D ratio. However, players can also earn fantasy points for planting or defusing bombs (three points each) in Search and Destroy rounds, so there are some players who we can target for other skills besides their ability to kill the opponent.
- You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy rounds won (+.5).
- Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played is as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Domination, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
- In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
- The Domination round is a good bit different than the others as teams attempt to control flag points on the map. These rounds can be bloody, but also can be relatively low-scoring depending on how aggressive or defensive teams get in this round. Players can earn +1 for successful flag captures during this domination round.
DFS Captain Considerations
Shotzzy - Shotzzy comes in to this as one of the hottest players in the league consistently putting up 150+ fantasy points. Dallas takes on Florida whom they just swept 3-0 in the championship game last weekend. I expect this match to play out a lot differently and go four or five games. He will likely be pretty chalky given the recent form and a match-up that he just dominated in. I can't blame you for eating this chalk as a 125 seems to be his floor in four or five game matches.
Methodz - In their very own home series, on the playoff bubble needing a couple wins to get in, I fully expect the Ultras best player to come out firing. He holds the top K/D on this Toronto squad and consistently puts up 100+ fantasy points. This series vs. OGLA is the most likely to go five on the slate and I plan on loading up on this particular match. It all starts with Methodz for me, lock him in whether you want him to be your captain or not is up to you but I would not fade him.
Slasher - On the other side of this TOR/OGLA match, Slasher sits in just as good of spot as Methodz. OGLA looked much better last weekend with the new subs and that led to some big time performances by Slasher. Even when OGLA was getting killed in weeks past, Slasher was always putting up fairly consistent numbers. If this goes five, 150 is not out of the question at all. This is another very tough fade for me.
Other captain plays: Simp, Cellium, Owakening
COD DFS Value Plays
Clayster - At just 7.2k on Draftkings, Clayster is an absolute steal in a highly competitive match against the Mutineers. Clay is no stranger to 100 point matches and at 7.2k that would set you up perfectly as long as your studs perform. As arguably the second best player on this Dallas roster, this price is just absurd.
Skyz - I never thought I would be writing about this guy in the "value plays" section but here we are. Averaging 94 DKP per match at 7.6k just seems unfair. Skyz is very consistent and is the 2nd man on this squad behind Owakening. If this match even touched four or five games, I have no doubt he finishes in triple figures.
Other value plays: MajorManiak, Hollow (deep value play)

COD DFS Stacking options
I have my eyes set on two particular matches on Friday and i'll want as many pieces from these two that I can get. First off, The Toronto/OpTic Gaming LA match is a big priority for me. This match should very well go five games. My favorites on the Toronto side are Methodz, Cammy, and Classic. On the OGLA side, I like Slasher, Hollow, and Drazah. I would recommend getting a minimum of two or three pieces from this one. My prediction is 3-2, Toronto Ultra.
The other match i have my eyes set on is the Florida/Dallas match. I know Dallas swept Florida last weekend, but I expect this one to go differently. I doubt Florida gets swept again as they are a top team in this league. My favorites on the Dallas side are Shotzzy, Clayster, and iLLeY. On the Florida side, I prefer Owakening, Skyz, and Fero. I think both of the matches I listed are the most likely to go five. My prediction here is Dallas, 3-2.
