LCK & LPL DFS Picks for 8/1/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends

Billy Hoffer’s League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for LPL, and LCK slates on 8/1/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Hello, eSports enthusiasts, and welcome back to our continued eSports DFS coverage of League of Legends for DraftKings and FanDuel! I'm Billy (aka "the kid") Hoffer and I'm back with more LPL/LCK analysis and fresh off a tie for first place in last night's FanDuel millionaire NBA GPP!

Tonight, we have a very special five-game slate as we have three matches in the LPL and our usual two in the LCK. We have a few tight spreads tonight as it should be an interesting slate. As always, I am going to do my best to give you high-quality analysis and actionable advice for tomorrow morning's DFS slate.

Today I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LCK/LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 4:00 AM on Saturday, August 1st, 2020. If you're not already, then make sure you follow me on Twitter @Hofferkid!

LCK Matches

Gen. G (-2000) vs. SeolHaeOne Prince

Gen. G is currently a top-four team in the world in my opinion and SP is the worst team in the LCK, may we move on? Gen. G holds the edge in first turret rate as well as first blood percentage. Gen.G also has advantages in all three of the primary neutral objectives (dragons, heralds, barons). Gen. G will win here easily and I doubt SP can provide any resistance at all. They are just simply out-matched and out-skilled in every lane here. SP does die a fair amount in losses so I do not mind looking the way of a full Gen. G stack.

My biggest problem with full stacking Gen. G is that not one player on their squad has a Kill Participation Percentage over 70%. That typically means that they will need a lot of kills in each game to pay off these steep price tags. The Team Slot is a lock here. Ruler is my favorite player from the side of Gen. G and he does carry massive upside. I would get pieces from this game but don't feel like you have to full-stack it as this is a five-game slate.

The pick: Gen. G, 2-0

Top Gen.G  plays:

  • Ruler - ADC
  • Clid - JNG
  • Bdd - MID
  • Rascal - TOP
  • Gen. G Team Slot

 DragonX(-500) vs. Afreeca Freecs

Well DRX comes in two days after getting absolutely throttled by DWG. I am not sure what really happened but these guys looked like a JV LCS team. AF, on the other hand, swept HLE their last time out and continue to be a steady team in the LCK. AF has the edge in both first turret and first blood percentage. DRX has the better dragon and baron rates, with AF having better herald control. DRX also has a much better gold differential at 15 minutes. I think DRX rights the ship after that pathetic showing in their last match, and I will take them to win here 2-1. If I'm being honest, I doubt I end up with much exposure to this matchup as if it does go three, upside on both sides will be limited.

If DRX can pull off a sweep here then I do think they can post very usable scores. Chovy is the best player on this DRX squad and holds a 70% Kill Participation rate, I like him to dominate Fly in the MID lane. Keria is an intriguing play at SUP. He holds a 73% KP but the likelihood of this match going three scares me as we typically look for sweep bonuses in the SUP position. I likely end up with a small stack or nothing here, a full-stack will likely be pretty contrarian.

The pick: DRX, 2-1

Top DRX plays:

  • Chovy - MID
  • Deft - ADC
  • Keria - SUP
  • Pyosik - JNG

LPL Matches

Rogue Warriors (-290) vs. LNG Esports

RW comes into this one fresh after getting swept by BLG and sits at 4-9. LNG still suck and have lost their last 10 matches. RW has the edge in first turret as well as first blood percentages. RW also holds better dragon and herald control, with LNG having a slightly better baron rate. I think Haro can single-handedly win this series as he has the best individual matchup on the slate going up against Xx. Holder/Haro should be able to perform several top-lane ganks onto Flandre.

This is an elite matchup for RW, and I fully expect them to take this 2-0. RW is one of my favorite stacks on the slate as they also have solid Kill Participation Rates throughout the team as three players are over 70% with another sitting at 68%. I would make sure to at least get both Haro and ZWuji as they both bring slate breaking upside and they are both some of my favorite captain options. I would recommend getting at least a small stack here and I will likely have a full four-man.

The pick: Rogue Warriors, 2-0

Top RW plays:

  • Haro - JNG
  • ZWuji - ADC
  • Holder - TOP
  • Wuming - MID

Edward gaming (-150) vs. Bilibili Gaming

EDG swept LNG in their last outing and have won two of their last three. BLG looked very good in their last match where they swept RW. BLG has the first turret edge, with EDG having a better first blood percentage. EDG has advantages in all three of the primary neutral objectives (dragons, heralds, barons). BLG holds a slightly better gold differential at 15 minutes. The loser of this game is officially eliminated from playoff contention, so expect these teams to come out ready to play.

I'll get right too it here, I like the small dogs to win here 2-1. BLG has looked like a much better team as of late and has also been drafting better, that sweep win over RW definitely caught my eye. Meteor catches my eye with is 78% Kill Participation, I also think TOP lane ganks will be wide open for the taking as we have seen Xiaoxiang die a LOT. I would recommend Kingen but he comes with a lot of sub risk so it is hard to suggest him. Fofo is my other favorite piece from this BLG squad. This JNG/MID duo is a duo that I play way more often than I probably should be. I like BLG do get ahead early a bit here and take that advantage into mid/late game team fights. I will not be full stacking BLG but instead using them as a small stack or a one-off to be contrarian and achieve leverage.

The pick: BLG, 2-1

Top BLG plays:

  • Meteor - JNG
  • Fofo - MID
  • Wings - ADC

Invictus Gaming (-650) vs. Oh My God

IG comes in white-hot and has won their last six matches. OMG is the exact opposite, having lost their last six. IG holds the first turret edge, with OMG holding the better first blood percentage. IG has fairly large advantages in all three of the primary neutral objectives. OMG brought in a new ADC last match and it did not help them much though Eric has to be better than Smlz. I like IG here to roll over OMG and take this one 2-0. I do think IG has some kill upside here but similar to Gen. G, this team has bad KP Percentages all-around with the SUP, Baolan, having the highest at 70.5%. Rookie is my favorite play from this match. OMG is awful early and IG is solid. They will get ahead and snowball and OMG have absolutely zero chance at winning any team fights from behind. I look to prioritize small stacks here. If IG drops a game, they will likely have low scores and they are no stranger to three-game series.

The pick: Invictus Gaming, 2-0

Top IG plays:

  • Rookie - MID
  • Ning - JNG
  • Puff - ADC
  • Baolan - SUP

Summary

  1. My favorite stacks in order are: RW, Gen. G, IG, DRX, BLG
  2. This is a five-game slate, don't focus in on one spot in all your lineups as there is plenty of upside to go around on this slate.
  3. We should see ownership spread out with ten teams on the slate so don't worry about the chalk too much!
