LPL DFS Picks for 7/22/20: DraftKings, FanDuel League of Legends

Billy Hoffer’s League of Legends (LoL) DFS advice and DraftKings, FanDuel lineup picks for the LPL slate on 7/22/20. His top LoL value plays and eSports DFS recommendations.

Hello, eSports enthusiasts, and welcome back to our continued eSports DFS coverage of League of Legends for DraftKings and FanDuel! We have no LCK games for this slate so it will just be a two-game LPL slate again today and tomorrow.

My name is Billy Hoffer and I'm a big fan of LOL, CSGO, and COD and have been a DFS grinder for some time now. I realize I have some big shoes to fill as I fill in for the esteemed Mr. Malmanger with these LPL picks, but I am going to do my best to give you high-quality analysis and actionable advice for tomorrow morning's DFS slate.

I'll be providing my League of Legends advice, analysis, and picks, for this LPL slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that locks at 5:00 AM on Wednesday, July 22nd, 2020. Make sure you follow me on Twitter @Hofferkid!

LPL Matches

Rogue Warriors (-145) vs. eStar

The Rogue Warriors come into this one as one of the hottest teams in the LPL having won their last three straight after starting 0-8. eStar is coming off of a win over OMG but has lost six of their last seven. Both of these teams sit at 3-8. eStar holds the advantage in first turret rate as well as first blood percentage. eStar also holds the edge in dragon and baron rates, with RW having the herald advantage. ES also has a fairly solid vision edge.

Before I get into predictions here, eStar is starting a new mid-laner, irma (not in FD player pool). I do not mind seeing a new MID in the lineup here for eStar at all as Fenfen was consistently getting outplayed in his lane, this can't really be much of a downgrade. Rat is still starting at ADC here for eStar and he had a fairly good showing in his debut against OMG but now has a much tougher individual lane match-up going against ZWuji. RW are the favorites here but are priced like underdogs. RW definitely has the momentum, but I favor eStar in this one, 2-1. I expect ES to force fights early as they typically do. RW does not handle early game pressure well as they sport a -1175 gold differential in the first 15 minutes. All three of Rogue Warriors wins have come against teams who are not known to snowball and play for early team fights. FPX and DMO both have very negative gold differential at 15 minutes, and for their other win over LGD, they are a 7-4 team and still are barely in the positive for gold differential at 15 minutes.

EStar is 3-8 and still have found a way to sport a positive gold differential at 15 minutes. Another reason I'll gladly take ES here is that RW will be chalk. I don't know about you guys, but the sentence "Rogue Warriors are chalk" makes me want to instantly run the other direction. I fully expect this match to be a blood bath and I am perfectly fine with a four-man from either side, but I'll take eStar.

The pick: eStar, 2-1

Top ES plays:

  • Wei - JNG
  • rat - ADC
  • ShiauC - SUP
  • Xiaobai - TOP

Team World Elite (-265) vs. Bilibili Gaming

Team WE is coming off possibly their worst performance all split, getting absolutely throttled by LGD 2-0. BLG has looked much better as of late winning two of their last three. WE has the first turret edge, while BLG has a better first blood percentage. WE has advantages in all three of the neutral objectives (Dragons, Heralds, Barons). This match has potential for some blood as WE are typically always forcing fights whenever possible.

I'll get right to it here and say I think WE wins this one 2-0 for a couple of reasons. I don't think BLG has a chance in team fights as that is not their strong suit, but it is what WE excels at. Also, I don't trust BLG to be smart enough in the draft stage to get Teacherma on an uncomfortable pick. Unless BLG can find a couple of early picks and build a gold lead, it will be tough for them to build any momentum. The bot lane duo of Jiumeng and Missing has a huge edge over their lane opponents in terms of team fighting and just flat out skill. This is a match where I feel comfortable playing Teacherma despite the tough match-up against Fofo. When Teacherma gets on a comfortable champion pick he is a top mid-laner in the LPL. If he gets on a champion with a bad match-up or something he is not used to, then he is absolutely useless. I think WE win here and put up around 40 kills while doing so, I'll eat this chalk and get different with my eStar stacks.

The pickWE, 2-0

Top WE plays:

  • Jiumeng - ADC
  • Missing - SUP
  • Teacherma - MID
  • Beishang - JNG
  • Morgan - TOP

Summary

  1. My favorite pairing on the night is ES/WE.
  2. My favorite one-offs are Haro, Holder, and Xiaobai. Whichever side you choose to be on from ES/RW, I would get my one-off from that match.
  3. Ownership will likely be WE, RW, ES, BLG with a big gap between the first two and the last two.
