Brendan Sorsby Receives Injunction, Eligible for 2026 College Football Season
Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby has received an injunction and is now set to be eligible for the 2026 college football season. Sorsby was previously ruled permanently ineligible in May due to thousands of gambling violations. His initial reinstatement request to the NCAA was denied but after receiving the injunction from a district court in Lubbock County, the senior is set to take the field for the Red Raiders. Based on the ruling, the NCAA cannot prevent Sorsby from "practicing, playing, or otherwise participating on Texas Tech's football team for the 2026 season." As a part of the ruling, Sorsby will serve a two-game suspension and will miss games against Abilene Christian and Oregon State. Sorsby threw for 2,800 yards and 27 touchdowns last season at Cincinnati, adding 580 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground.
