Eric Cross' top 25 fantasy baseball prospects to stash in redraft for Week 7 (2025). His updated MLB rookie rankings for prospect call-ups to make 2025 impacts.

It's been a fun few days in the prospect promotion world as we had Cade Horton make his debut over the weekend, Chase Petty get recalled to take the spot of the injured Hunter Greene, and we finished the weekend with the report of Jordan Lawlar getting recalled by the Diamondbacks.

There are still plenty of notable prospects to stash or monitor right now, including a few names sneaking up the rankings, which I'll discuss below.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings Analysis

Jordan Lawlar, Arizona Diamondbacks

We hoped it would happen when Ketel Marte hit the IL last month, but Arizona has finally recalled Jordan Lawlar from Triple-A. While he's cooled off a bit as of late, Lawlar has put up a tasty line so far this season with 15 doubles, six home runs, 13 steals, and a .336/.413/.579 slash line in 37 games. He's also scored 38 runs and is walking at a 10.4% clip.

Jordan Lawlar is getting the call to Arizona finally.

Triple-A: 173 PA, .336/.413/.579, 15 2B, 6 HR, 13 SB, 10.4% BB, 22.5% K

Lawlar brings an enticing power/speed blend to the table for fantasy purposes as a plus or better runner who posted a 45.8% hard-hit rate, 9.3% barrel rate, 74% contact rate, and an 81.3% zone contact rate in Triple-A this season. The problem is, it sounds like Lawlar will be playing around four times a week as opposed to every day regularly. He's still worth a look in 12-team leagues or deeper for the upside, though.

For those wondering if Lawlar might play a corner outfield position with Corbin Carroll moving to center, that's highly unlikely, as Lawlar has never played a single inning in the outfield since being drafted back in 2021.

Chase DeLauter, Cleveland Guardians

Well, Chase DeLauter is back from the IL and currently on a rehab assignment before rejoining Triple-A Columbus. Staying on the field has been a notable issue for DeLauter since being drafted back in 2022, but the production and underlying metrics have been impressive in between the IL stints.

In his 96 career minor league games, DeLauter has slashed .317/.387/.517 with 45 extra-base hits, seven steals, and a healthy 42/52 strikeout to walk ratio. In addition to being a plus power bat with above-average speed and a great approach at the plate, DeLauter has consistently made near-elite to elite contact at every level in the minors, including an 87.2% contact rate last season with only a 5.8% SwStr rate.

The Guardians might not want to waste too much time getting DeLauter into their lineup as he's shown the talent is there and they might not want to keep wasting their bullets so to speak in Triple-A given DeLauter's durability issues. Plus, Nolan Jones is struggling mightily in right field with a .156/.276/.289 slash line in 106 plate appearances this season.

Colby Thomas, West Sacramento/Soon to Be Las Vegas Athletics

Colby Thomas is heating up in Triple-A and has been hitting well all season. Over his last 11 games, Thomas has swatted five doubles and five home runs with a .367/.385/.776. Yes, he also has just one walk to 16 strikeouts in that span, but Thomas has always been in that 25-30% strikeout rate range and continues to be in that range this season with a 27.7% mark in 166 plate appearances.

Overall, Thomas has slashed .300/.361/.547 with 11 doubles, eight home runs, and a pair of steals in 166 plate appearances. His metrics under the hood have been solid as well, with an 83 % zone contact rate, 71.5% overall contact rate, 41% hard-hit rate, and a 10.7% barrel rate.

There's no clear-cut opening for Thomas at the moment, but his path to playing time would be Lawrence Butler moving to center full-time and JJ Bleday moving to a 4th outfielder role. Bleday is currently slashing .216/.313/.388.

EmManuel Rodriguez, Minnesota Twins

For those hoping to see an Emmanuel Rodriguez call-up early this season, I just don't see it happening, given his struggles to begin the season in Triple-A. It was nice to see Rodriguez finally pick up his first and second home runs of the season on Friday and Saturday, but he's slashing just .233/.377/.337 overall.

The quality of contact metrics has been decent, with a 41.7% hard-hit rate and an 8.3% barrel rate, but those are down from last season. Rodriguez is currently running a 73.3% zone and 64.8% overall contact rate, both of which are highly concerning.

The long-term upside is still considerable, but I wouldn't be looking to stash Rodriguez in redraft leagues right now. I believe he'll be in Triple-A for a big chunk of the season and have inconsistent production once he does get the call.

Rhett Lowder, Cincinnati Reds

After missing the beginning of the season due to a right forearm strain, Rhett Lowder is back in game action and made a rehab appearance in High-A Dayton on Sunday after getting some time out at the Complex Level in Arizona. In three innings on Sunday, Lowder allowed four earned runs on five hits but also struck out five of the 17 batters he faced.

Lowder was a popular post-200 ADP draft target this season after he posted a 1.17 ERA in six starts with Cincinnati late last season. However, Lowder had a bit of luck in those six starts as he only posted a 6.3% K-BB rate and had a 4.34 xERA. That's not to say Lowder can't provide fantasy value once he's back up with Cincinnati, but his upside is a bit limited as he's not a big source of strikeouts.

As for his ETA, Petty got the call to fill in for Greene while he's on the IL, but that's not expected to be a long-term issue. It might be several weeks before we see Lowder back up with the Reds, unless there's an injury before that.
