Matchday 13 Recap

After a couple of dry weeks on either side of the international break, we hit a winner during the weekend. Our "both teams to score" parlay bagged us a tidy profit and kept us healthily in the black for the season.

We went 9-of-10 for our "both teams to score" plays, with Manchester City letting us down from achieving a perfect week. Given its recent form, that was always a possibility.

Following Saturday's games, it looked like we would be in for a huge weekend. Alas, Tottenham's unpredictability and Everton's incompetence denied us more winners. As mentioned during the weekend, expect some rotation and extra volatility with such a quick turnaround, so tread carefully.

Tuesday, December 3, 2024

Ipswich Town (+185) vs. Crystal Palace (+150) - 2:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Ipswich Town 2 – 1 Crystal Palace

Ipswich's three-game unbeaten run was ended. But it continues to be competitive, having not been beaten by more than a goal in any of its last five games. Palace drew for the third time in its last four games and this should be a close encounter that the home team edges out at tasty odds.

Leicester City (+175) vs. West Ham United (+150) - 3:15 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Leicester City 1 – 1 West Ham United

Leicester will be hoping new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy can spark the team into life. It comes into this game on the back of three straight defeats, conceding nine goals. West Ham's roller-coaster run continues and it has still yet to have back-to-back identical results.

West Ham's topsy-turvy form and Leicester's new manager make this possibly the most difficult game to predict this week. We'll play it safe and go with both teams to score, given they've combined to concede 18 goals in their last four games between them.

Wednesday, December 4, 2024

Everton (+105) vs. Wolves (+260) - 2:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Everton 1 – 2 Wolves

Although Everton has only lost twice in its last five games, it feels like a managerial change is on the horizon. It has not won any of those five games and now blanked in four straight matches. Wolves' 32 goals conceded are the most in the league, so we have the moveable object versus the resistible force.

Wolves have been priced too high to not take advantage of. As we said at the beginning, expect volatility, so we'll embrace that by picking the high-priced away win.

Manchester City (-295) vs. Nottingham Forest (+700) - 2:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Manchester City 3 – 2 Nottingham Forest

City's dreadful run continued with a seventh straight game without a win in all competitions. We predicted Forest would get back to what made it successful to start the season. What I can't predict is when City will get back on track. It surely won't blank again but can't defend, so we'll avoid the moneyline.

Newcastle United (+295) vs. Liverpool (-125) - 2:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Newcastle United 1 – 2 Liverpool

Newcastle appeared set to get back to winning ways. But one point from its last two games has left it in the bottom half of the table. Liverpool's march toward a title continued when it comfortably dispatched Manchester City. Liverpool looks too good to turn down at these odds. Away win!

Southampton (+650) vs. Chelsea (-270) - 2:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Southampton 1 – 3 Chelsea

Southampton was unlucky not to get a second win of the season. It does, however, continue to dice with death when it plays out from the back. Chelsea's press should lead to plenty of chances, but the odds of an away goal don't appeal. We should see over 2.5 total goals, so that's our play here.

Arsenal (-225) vs. Manchester United (+550) - 3:15 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Arsenal 2 – 2 Manchester United

Arsenal's goal-scoring form continued. It has now scored 13 goals in its last three games in all competitions. Manchester United comes into this game having scored seven goals in its last two games. Arsenal's defense is a little dinged up, so we'll play both teams to score.

Aston Villa (-125) vs. Brentford (+310) - 3:15 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Aston Villa 1 – 0 Brentford

Villa is entering this week on the back of an eight-game winless streak in all competitions. Brentford owns the league's best home record and scored more goals at home than any other team. On the road, it has taken one point from six games. It has scored just four away goals, the joint fewest in the league.

I can make a strong case for this game to end goalless. Villa has failed to score in four of its last five games in the EPL and Champions League. Brentford has failed to score more than once in any of its away games. Regardless of the result, don't expect much action, so we'll play under 2.5 goals.

Thursday, December 5, 2024

Fulham (+135) vs. Brighton (+180) - 2:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Fulham 1 – 1 Brighton

Fulham will feel disappointed it didn't beat Tottenham on Sunday. It was a much-improved performance, having lost 4-1 at home to Wolves the week before. After playing on Friday, Brighton will have had almost a full week to recover and prepare for this game. I do give it a slight edge to win.

However, it does look like it will be a tight game. Brighton has scored in all six of its away games, keeping two clean sheets. Fulham's six home games have all seen both teams score. And it's both teams scoring which we'll be playing this week.

Bournemouth (+170) vs. Tottenham Hotspur (+135) - 3:15 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 2 Tottenham Hotspur

Bournemouth put consecutive losses behind it with a convincing win at Wolves. Although it did need three penalties to secure the 4-2 victory. Tottenham's up-and-down results continued on Sunday. Trying to predict what it does game-to-game is becoming foolhardy.

What we can expect is to see goals. Eight of Tottenham's 13 EPL games have seen both teams score and nine of them at least three goals. Each of Bournemouth's last four games has seen both teams score and over 2.5 total goals. Those are both in play and are our picks to round off this week's action.

Season parlays 1/13 (-1.53u) 0/13 (-13.00u) 5/13 (+25.52u)

Good luck with those FPL teams and EPL bets. Remember to bet responsibly!
