Fantasy Football Dynasty Breakout Players: FFPC Empire League Targets

The FFPC (Fantasy Football Players Championship) is the home for serious fantasy football players to compete in dynasty leagues. Scott Engel looks at some prime players to target in the new FFPC Empire League format.

The dynasty fantasy football excitement is already building towards the 2024 season, especially at the Fantasy Football Players Championship site, a prime destination for high-stakes players and all those looking to engage in seriously competitive leagues. This season, the FFPC has launched a unique twist on their dynasty formats with the new Empire Dynasty Leagues.

The Empire Leagues feature a progressive prize pool that grows annually and is only awarded when a team wins back-to-back championships. Once a team wins consecutive championships, the league disbands. There is a window of 10 seasons for any team to win back-to-back championships before the league is shut down.

Winning in an Empire League format requires a shorter-term approach to building a roster. Earning one title is never easy against FFPC competition, but winning two in a row prompts you to aggressively gun for upside over the next two seasons when joining these startup leagues. You cannot concentrate on player windows of three to five-plus years down the line, as is the frequently utilized approach in standard dynasty leagues.

FFPC Empire Dynasty Leagues: Key Targets For The Next Two Seasons

In any type of dynasty league, there should also be a focus on winning in the shorter term. You do want to win this year or as soon as possible, and not fully aim to build a team with your eyes on five-plus years in the future. Player outlooks and NFL rosters change significantly in three-year periods, so the best dynasty approach is to construct a dual-themed roster that can win now while also being set up for longer-term success.

The player rundown here is geared mainly toward FFPC Empire League roster building, yet it can be applied to any dynasty format. These targets are guys that I believe have a strong chance of breaking out this season and could make significant fantasy splashes by 2025 at the latest. The players featured here should be targeted to help you win as soon as possible in Empire Leagues and must be highlighted on your online cheat sheets for any dynasty leagues.

Drake London

With Kirk Cousins set to take over at QB this year and Michael Penix Jr. in position as the projected starter in the longer term, I am expecting London to rise to at least true WR2 status in the next two seasons with a runway to being a must-start WR for several years to come.

Dalton Kincaid

Dalton Kincaid ran 41 routes without Stefon Diggs on the field as a rookie, basically the equivalent of one game.

After trading Stefon Diggs, the Bills are thin overall at WR. Keon Coleman should emerge as a dependable target, but the crew is shaky after him, and Kincaid might have to step forward as a major playmaker for Josh Allen this upcoming season. I would not be surprised to see Kincaid emerge as a top-shelf fantasy TE in 2024, possibly ascending to take on a similar featured receiving role that Mark Andrews had played in the Baltimore offense for a long time. In the FFPC TE premium format, the 24-year-old can be an authentic difference-maker.

D'Andre Swift

We have not yet seen Swift unfurl his true upside over a full season yet. The Bears have been searching for a lead back to stabilize the backfield, and Swift can certainly be the answer. Swift will take pressure off his young QB as a runner and receiver and he will also be a guy to target in FFPC Best Ball formats for spike weeks.

Jordan Love

He finished as QB5 overall and sixth in points per game last season. Love has not earned the name appeal of some other top-line QBs yet, but he has been surrounded by a deep crew of playmakers, many of whom are early enough in their careers to develop in tune with him. The Green Bay QB is a rising star, and he can be a key part of many winning fantasy teams over the next two seasons.

Anthony Richardson

In FFPC Superflex Dynasty leagues, I won’t be surprised to see many players draft Richardson inside the top 10. High-stakes competitors often are aggressive about getting the guys they want, and Richardson should be a primary target in Superflex and Empire Leagues. The Colts are another team that has surrounded their young QB with a significant amount of complementary depth, and Richardson has the obvious rushing upside. If I came out of a SuperFlex dynasty draft with Richardson and Love at QB, that would be considered a satisfying pairing.

Marquise Brown

I was never a major fantasy backer of “Hollywood” in past seasons, but he could enter the best stretch of his career over the next two to three years. He was miscast as a top WR on a heavy running offense in Baltimore and dealt with QB injury issues In Arizona. Now he will play with the best QB in the NFL, and at some point, Travis Kelce will start to fall off in production, and Brown might develop into a prime playmaker for Patrick Mahomes.

Zamir White

In the final three weeks of last season, White rushed for 70-plus yards in each game. The Raiders did not make a move in the offseason to bring in major competition for carries. White is a dual package of strength and speed and can prove to be a dependable source of fantasy production. He should get a consistent amount of TD opportunities.

Jalin Hyatt

The Malik Nabers addition is going to make it difficult for defenses to shade coverage over the top of Jalin Hyatt like we saw at times in 2023.

I have been a big Hyatt supporter from the fantasy perspective since he was drafted by the Giants in 2023. I am recommending him as a later-round value who can provide significant upside in the next few years. I predict Hyatt will start making his fantasy presence known this season as a real downfield threat for the Giants. He and Malik Nabers have the potential to take the top off defenses. Let’s see if Daniel Jones can finally make the most of having better talents at WR, and if not, Drew Lock could actually enjoy throwing deep to Nabers and Hyatt.

Justin Fields

Here is another value target, as Russell Wilson obviously has to fall hard again for the door to open for Fields to start for Pittsburgh fully. That could happen as soon as early in the 2024 season, and the former Bears QB was a top 6 fantasy player at his position in 2022. You can possibly draft Fields outside of the top 20 QBs and get a great fantasy return at some point this season or next.

Jaylen Wright

In the next two seasons, Wright will make some real fantasy noise. Raheem Mostert has always been a durability risk and is at the back end of his career. De’Von Achane is another injury concern and cannot be asked to shoulder a heavy load. Wright fits ideally in the Miami offense with his speed and also has the size to be a proper complement to Achane. He might have some promise as a TD producer. Getting the chance to finish drives for the Dolphins' offense can lead to some impressive fantasy performances once Wright starts to see enough quality work.
