Call of Duty DFS Lineup Picks (7/8/22) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy COD Advice

Koby Hanson's DraftKings DFS lineup picks for Call of Duty on 7/8/22. He analyzes the COD slates and top lineup targets for eSports DFS contests.

Hello there eSports DFS enthusiasts, and welcome back to RotoBaller's coverage of Call of Duty DFS contests for DraftKings! The final week of Qualifiers is here, we have Major 4 coming up very soon, and then after we are on to Champs! We have a few teams still fighting for their spot in Champs, so narratives are very much alive this week teams such as LA Thieves, Florida Mutineers, Minnesota Rokkr, and LA Guerrillas are very much fighting for the last 2 spots. NYSL also has an outside chance as well but they are going to need a perfect playthrough of the Major 4 tournament.

This is easily one of my favorite sports to cover here at Rotoballer because I play a ton of COD myself and I like to think I'm pretty good at it as well. I have been following the COD League for about five years now and finally get to put all this knowledge to the test! A great set of games ahead of us as a surging London team takes on the top dogs in Atlanta FaZe,  next we have Paris Legion who hasn't won a game in over 100 days taking on Florida Mutineers who are in a must-win situation. Finally, we finish the day with the Seattle Surge looking to halt the Minnesota Rokkr from a chance in the finals in what should be a tight matchup and by far the best of the day!

Today I'll be bringing you my COD DFS advice, analysis, and lineup picks for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings on Friday, July 8th, 2022, at 3:00 PM EST. Feel free to follow me on Twitter @DFSKoby or find me in the slack as I am happy to engage with readers and try to answer your questions!

Call of Duty: Major 4 Qualifiers

Best of 5

  • Atlanta FaZe (-205) vs. London Royal Ravens (+155)
  • Florida Mutineers (-1000) vs. Paris Legion (+500)
  • Seattle Surge (-165) vs. Minnesota Rokkr (+125)

Slate Overview

This first match should be a close one, and if London can keep doing what they have been doing during the qualifiers, they have a chance to pull off the upset. London's biggest weakness has been in Control losing all three of their control matches so far. They will have to beat Atlanta on SnD though and I see that proving difficult. I see a 3-2 win here for Atlanta but London is very live for the upset.

I don't have to talk too much about this one so I will keep it short. Paris has only one map win during these qualifiers and it was in Control where Florida has been better in this season. If Paris wants to make noise they have to get something going in Hardpoint which will be tough against such a good respawn team. 3-0 Florida.

Now, this is where it gets interesting. This one really could go either way, Seattle has been struggling since winning Major 3. They have lost two straight to Boston and NYSL, both of which they should have won. They now get a hungry Minnesota team who is on the brink of elimination if they don't pull something together. Seattle has struggled a lot in HP so far and that is where Minnesota Excels. So at that point, they just need to pull off a win in either SnD or Control. The more likely of the two is in Control. Seattle has been one of the better SnD teams and I think if it gets to a game 5 that is how Seattle wins. So I say Minnesota 3-1 or Seattle 3-2.

COD DFS Basics

  1. Like in CSGO, players receive two points for a kill and are penalized -1 for dying. Therefore, the simplest stat to look at here is the K/D ratio.
  2. You need to roster a team slot on both sites. Teams accrue fantasy points for games won (+4), matches won (+10), and Search and Destroy/Control rounds won (+.5).
  3. Teams will be playing best-of-five matches on a rotation of various game modes. Those modes and the order in which they are played are as follows: Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, Control, Hardpoint, Search & Destroy.
  4. In hardpoint rounds, players with positive K/D ratios are usually the highest scorers and these rounds are often the bloodiest.
  5. They also have changed a game mode from Domination to Control for League play. This is going to be a lot different in gameplay as it's round-based and not the first one to 200. They play first one to 3 round wins. You win by capturing both points or killing the enemy team until they run out of their lives. One team defends and the other attacks.
  6. There is a sweep bonus this year as teams and players both can get a 20-point player sweep and a 5-point team sweep. In the chance, they do sweep they also get granted a bonus of 20 points for not playing hardpoint and a bonus of 5 points for not playing the final Search and Destroy map. So that adds up in a sweep to a total of 45 extra points which are going to be very crucial this year.

COD DFS Captain Considerations

Owakening: Florida is in a must-win situation and they are going to need Owakening to step up big time. They have a good matchup fortunately for them against Paris and Owakening honestly feels very cheap at 9,600$ when there is a possible sweep on the board. I also believe we see Bocage for HP which could start them off with a lot of kills in the first map. So far during the Major 4 Qualifiers, he has averaged a 1.13 in HP, a .70 in SnD, and a .98 in Control. I expect those to all be well over 1.00 after tomorrow's game. Owakening is by far the top player from Florida as he leads his team in engagements by a ton which tends to lead to more kills especially when it is against an inferior team such as Paris Legion.

Simp: With Simp this cheap, I have to. They have a tough matchup against a surging London team but I think tough competition is where simp shines. He, Abezy, and Cellium are all within 400$ of each other and this will probably be the lowest we see them all season. Simp had a bit of a dud last time out, but his ceiling is so insanely high that he could go from an 80 DKP game to a 140 DKP on any given day. During the Qualifiers so far he has had a 1.06 K/D in HP, a 2.06 in SnD, and a .96 in Control.

Other captain plays: Pred, Sib, Cellium, Skyz, Gismo(GPP), Standy

COD DFS Value Plays

Attach: All season long I feel like Attach has been completely underrated and finally this Minnesota team was starting to show up and all of a sudden that has come to halt with being swept by Florida and a rough 3-1 loss to London. Attach has been by far the most consistent this season and if Minnesota wants to pull off an upset this is their chance and they are going to need Attach to bring the fire. He leads his team in HP with a 1.20 K/D, and a .86 in SnD. Minnesota has struggled in Control a bit but he still has a .94 in Control. Attach has also scored 110 DKP in 6 of his last 8 scores by DK. This should be going at least 4 maps and if we get a great game from Attach on those Hardpoints that could boost his score quite a bit!

MajorManiak: I was actually surprised how good of an addition Major ended up being to this Florida team. I was a bit skeptical at first but I do think he fits Florida's way of play. He has a 1.00 K/D in HP, a 1.22 in SnD, and a .90 in Control. They are playing the worst team in the league this time around and I see Major taking full advantage of that matchup and cruising to a solid win over Paris. We are also getting him super cheap at only 6,600$ and with sweep a high possibility, he is a top play for me.

Other value plays: Nastie(GPP), Accuracy, Havok, Arcitys

COD DFS Stacks

Florida Mutineers: Florida has been up and down this season but there is no reason they should lose this game against Paris who hasn't won a match since the Major 2 qualifiers. Temp has seemed to have checked out already too and he's by far their best player. Florida needs this win too much to choke it against a team like Paris. Owakening and Skyz are your best options at the top and should score the best. MajorManiak is by far one of the best value plays on the slate. I'm just not sold on 2Real yet. So for now he is a fade, he will be your lowest owned though of the 4 so if you want a slight edge he could be the move.

Other Team Plays: Atlanta FaZe, Minnesota Rokkr, Seattle Surge, London(GPP)

Summary

  1. TLDR: Atlanta 3-2, Florida 3-0, Seattle 3-2
  2. Atlanta: All
  3. London: Gismo, Nastie, Zero
  4. Florida: All
  5. Paris: None
  6. Seattle: Pred, Accuracy(value), Mack
  7. Minnesota: Attach, Standy, Havok(value)
