Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups - Mason Taylor, Theo Johnson, Harold Fannin Fantasy Football Outlooks

Theo Johnson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Week 6 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Mason Taylor, Theo Johnson, Harold Fannin in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

The late-round tight end drafters are winning fantasy football this season.

Brock Bowers and Trey McBride are underwhelming at cost, George Kittle (hamstring) is injured, and T.J. Hockenson is an afterthought in the Minnesota offense. But even those who didn't hit on the position in the draft are finding servicable, plug-and-play guys off the waiver wire. There is more to add to the list.

Should fantasy managers add Harold Fannin Jr., Theo Johnson, or Mason Taylor in Week 6? Let's dive in and find out.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Harold Fannin Jr. Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 27% of Leagues

Baller Move: Consider in All Leagues

The Fannin hype train went off the rails after he burst onto the scene in his professional debut. The rookie's reception numbers decreased from Weeks 2 through 4, and, with the impending quarterback change, the outlook wasn't looking so hot.

Granted, it's a one-game sample size, but Dillon Gabriel brought new life to the Cleveland offense, particularly to the tight ends. The rookie targeted Fannin and David Njoku on 39.3% of his attempts. That's a double-digit boost from the previous four games.

In Week 5, Njoku was the primary recipient as he secured six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. But Fannin caught a touchdown of his own, just on fewer targets, all of which were of the short-yardage variety. His four receptions turned into just 13 yards.

The matchup in Week 6 should bring a similar game plan. The Browns coaching staff will look to get the football out of Gabriel's hands quickly to avoid the Pittsburgh pass rush. That should turn into more opportunities for Fannin and Njoku.

Theo Johnson Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 11% of Leagues

Baller Move: Consider in 12-team leagues

Who would the Giants lean on in the absence of Malik Nabers (knee)? Wan'Dale Robinson was the most productive second option before Nabers' injury. Darius Slayton admirably played the role of Nabers last season, and would see the most significant uptick in snaps.

The answer, however, was neither wide receiver. Rather, Johnson has been the biggest beneficiary.

New York is running 12 personnel packages as a base offense: Johnson played 82% of the snaps on Sunday, while second-string tight end Daniel Bellinger was on the field more than half of the time. The latter led the team in receiving yards (52) against the Saints. Johnson, on the other hand, more than doubled Bellinger's routes run and tied for the most targets (seven).

The second-year tight end has a great relationship with new quarterback Jaxson Dart. The rookie has eyes for the 6-foot-6 body in the red zone as Johnson has scored three times in Dart's two starts.

As good as his scoring has been, Johnson may fall into the touchdown-or-bust category of tight ends. The target numbers are encouraging, sure, but his average depth of target is going to lead to bust weeks if he doesn't hit paydirt. He has a 5.7 aDOT with 6.6 yards per reception.

The usage is encouraging, especially for dynasty managers sitting on the 2024 fourth-round pick, and Johnson could continue to build on his play, but be warned about potential duds throughout the rest of the season.

Mason Taylor Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 13% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in PPR Leagues

There had to be a second receiving option for the New York Jets. Garrett Wilson can't get a 50% target share.

Taylor is emerging as that second fiddle. A preseason ankle injury contributed to a slow start to the season, but he's been quietly breaking out over the last two weeks. Taylor has a 26% and 27% target share and a 28% first-read rate in those two games. He just earned 12 targets in the loss to Dallas.

Similar to his New York counterpart, Taylor's aDOT isn't anything to tell his Hall of Fame father about. Plus, he doesn't have a touchdown yet in his young career. That's the downside to Taylor. The Jets' offense isn't presenting many scoring opportunities.

The Jets' defense is helping the second-round pick, however. They're allowing the second-most points per game (31.4), which puts the offense in catch-up mode in the second half. Seven of Taylor's nine catches on Sunday came in the second half when the Jets were behind 20+ points.

That kind of volume at the tight end position is impossible to pass up, especially in PPR formats. Hopefully, the Jets continue to struggle on defense and are forced to keep peppering their young tight end moving forward.
