Top-5 MLB Pitching Prospects To Stash For Fantasy Baseball Redraft Leagues - Week 2 (2025)

Quinn Mathews - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Draft Sleepers, MLB Rookie Rankings

Andy's top pitching fantasy baseball prospects to stash for Week 2 (2025). His MLB prospects to pickups and stash on your bench and N/A spots in redraft leagues.

Welcome back to our top starting pitcher fantasy baseball prospects to stash for Week 2 of the 2025 MLB season. Even though the regular season has just started, there is no better time to look ahead and identify high-upside stashes.

Last season, we saw several prospect pitchers become league-winners as soon as they reached the major leagues, like Paul Skenes and Spencer Schwellenbach. This is why it is critical to be over-aggressive on the waiver wire, especially early in the season, as it could pay off in the final months of the season. We have already begun seeing some budding aces make their Triple-A regular season debut. Just this week, we had Chase Dollander, featured in our Week 1 column, get the call to the big leagues and start on Sunday, April 6. If Dollander is available in your league, I would target him before any names listed below, as he is not only already in the majors but should have a secure spot in the starting rotation.

Below are the top pitching prospects to stash leading up to Week 2 of the 2025 MLB season.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball draft tools and resources:

Bubba Chandler, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates

Currently At Triple-A
20% rostered

Even though Thomas Harrington got the call to the majors before Bubba Chandler, he is still a must-stash in all standard formats. Chandler is considered the top prospect in the Pittsburgh system and No. 15 in the sport on MLB.com.

The 22-year-old recently made his regular-season debut and tossed just two 2/3 innings of work, which is something to monitor. Chandler struck out four batters and allowed just one hit with three walks. Given that the team is already beginning to monitor Chandler's workload, it is a positive sign and could suggest he will have a significant role in the big leagues later in the summer.

Last season, Chandler held a stellar 1.83 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP with a 15:54 BB:K over his first 39 1/3 innings at Triple-A last summer. During this stint, he allowed just two long balls.

Carmen Mlodzinski stumbled in his first start of the season, allowing seven hits and four earned runs across three 2/3 innings. Harrington also struggled in his first start, allowing six runs across four innings. Chandler should slot in as the No. 3 in the rotation as soon as he gets the call.

Brandon Sproat, SP, New York Mets

Currently At Triple-A
5% rostered

Brandon Sproat progressed through the Mets system fairly quickly last season, beginning with High-A and finishing the season with Triple-A. The Florida product was impressive across 87 2/3 innings split between High-A and Double-A, posting a 2.05 ERA with a strong 0.94 WHIP. He struck out 110 batters and served up just 34 free passes.

However, across his first 28 2/3 innings at Triple-A, Sproat held a high 7.53 ERA.

Unfortunately, those struggles at the top level of the minor leagues have already begun to show in 2025. Sporat made his regular-season debut on March 30 and could only get through two innings, allowing three hits and four earned runs. He must find his footing at Triple-A before he enters "must-stash" territory.

For now, he should only be targeted in NL-only formats.

Zebby Matthews, SP, Minnesota Twins

Currently At Triple-A
5% rostered

Zebby Matthews will be a popular name on this list during the early part of the campaign. Matthews almost made the Opening Day roster out of camp, but the team opted for him to continue his development at Triple-A St. Paul.

Matthews made his regular-season debut on April 1 and continued to impress as he tossed five one-hit innings. He struck out four batters and did not allow a walk. Across 74 1/3 innings split between Double-A and Triple-A last summer, the Western Carolina product posted a 2.91 ERA with a 0.90 WHIP. He flashed elite command as he held a near-perfect 7:86 BB:K.

The 24-year-old is also worth paying close attention to due to the struggles of the current back end of the Minnesota rotation. Chris Paddack had a disastrous season debut, allowing nine earned runs, including three home runs, in just three innings of work to the White Sox.

It's only a matter of time before the struggling Twins turn to Matthews to kickstart their team.

Quinn Mathews, St. Louis Cardinals

Currently At Triple-A
7% rostered

Quinn Mathews flew up prospect boards last summer in his professional debut. Mathews opened the 2024 campaign at Low-A and eventually progressed all the way to Triple-A by the end of the summer. During his impressive season, the southpaw rarely ran into trouble as he held a 2.27 ERA with a strong 0.85 WHIP across 126 2/3 innings between Low-A, High-A, and Double-A.

During this stint, Mathews struck out an impressive 202 batters and served up 49 free passes. However, he ran into trouble at Triple-A, similar to the previously mentioned Sproat. In 16 2/3 innings at Triple-A, Mathews allowed 12 earned runs.

He made his season debut on March 29 (at Triple-A) and had a modest showing, allowing two runs across four innings of work. He held a 3:1 BB:K in this outing with four total hits.

While this outing was not overly impressive, the southpaw is still worth keeping a close eye on as he flashed immense upside in the minor leagues last season. It may only take a few strong outings at the top level of the minor leagues before St. Louis gives him the call.

Caden Dana, Los Angeles Angels

Currently at Triple-A
8% rostered

The No. 77-ranked prospect in the sport is rounding out this list, according to MLB Pipeline, who was recently promoted to the majors to serve as a brief replacement for Ryan Johnson, who was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move. He was deployed out of the bullpen and tossed three innings of two-run ball.

Dana received a brief taste of the major leagues last season but struggled during that stint, allowing 11 earned runs across 10 1/3 innings of work.

Before reaching the majors last season, the Angels gave Dana the call before even reaching Triple-A. Dana logged 135 2/3 innings at Double-A to the tune of a stellar 2.53 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP and was then promoted to the majors, skipping Triple-A.

However, at the start of the 2025 campaign, the Angels sent their top pitching prospect to Triple-A to put the final touches on his development. In his Triple-A regular-season debut, Dana allowed one run and three hits across four innings of work.

On Sunday, the Angels optioned Dana back to Triple-A. However, seeing that the team already called his name suggests he may only be an injury away from seeing a full-time role in the big leagues.
