Kyren Williams has been fantasy gold this season when healthy. Despite serving an IR stint from weeks 7-12, Williams is the RB8 on the season with over half of his weeks putting up top-10 numbers, four of those inside the top-five. With an ADP of RB80 to undrafted in most scenarios, Williams been unquestionably been one of the fantasy MVPs for 2023.
Over the past two weeks, facing stout run defenses, Williams still eclipsed the four YPC mark and put up a combined 202 rushing yards, one touchdown, along with an additional six receptions. In fact, he hasn't dropped below four YPC since week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals, showcasing elite efficiency on the ground.
It's not just the ground game that has been working for this Rams' offense though. Williams has also seen great usage through the air as well, with 25 catches on 39 targets for 189 yards and three scores. There was a brief moment when returning from the ankle injury in Week 12 when folks were wondering if Williams would be given the keys to the backfield again but heach coach Sean McVay quickly set the record straight.
Kyren put up 200+ scrimmage yards and two touchdowns en route to the top scoring running back on the week. Simply put, Williams is workhorse. One of the few true lead backs in the league, which means he is a lineup lock in all formats. The former Notre Dame standout is fifth in the NFL in touches per game with 20.4. That is not volume that you can ever afford to bench.
Last week I wrote about Kyren having one of the best playoff schedules, and Week 15 is no exception. The Commanders rank 26th against opposing running backs on the year in half-point PPR scoring. Despite having arguably the most talented defensive line in the league for much of the season, Washington ranks 17th in rushing yards allowed and is tied for 25th in YPC conceded.
While Washington's secondary is somehow notably worse, which could lead to a big day from quarterback Matthew Stafford and the pass-catchers, Williams should see more than enough work to merit top-end RB1 numbers this week. He's a lineup lock in all formats.
