Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds for Week 14

We are just a little past half way into the fantasy week season, so it's critical to figure out how you can improve your team's success before it's too late. Looking into Week 14, there are a couple of must-add players that you shouldn't leave behind on your waiver wire.

It's never too early to explore trades to boost your team's chances, especially in head-to-head leagues. With that said, we're here to bless you all with everything you guys need to stay ahead of your opponents in all your fantasy leagues. Below are our recommended waiver wire pickups for Week 14 of the fantasy basketball season, for those looking to beef up their teams. We wish everyone the best of luck in your leagues and may the odds forever be in your favor!

It's the best time to start exploring trades, and get out ahead before it's too late! Sell high, buy low - trying to look for ways to improve your team despite where you are in the standings will go a long way for you in case injuries and cold streaks happen. As a reminder for most leagues, it's crucial to plan. Waiver wire adds, scheduling and player injuries are all things to consider. Drop the dead weight, make an effort to improve your team by maximizing your weekly adds and utilizing streamer spots via the waiver wire. Don't be attached to short-term pickups when there is a hot player on the horizon, especially if a hot player can stick with significant minutes the rest of the season. Be wary of weekly streaming options and stay ahead of your opponents. Week 14 Schedule

4 Games - Spurs, Suns, Grizzlies, Clippers, Pacers, Pistons, Hornets, Celtics

3 Games -  Jazz, Raptors, Kings, Trail Blazers, Sixers, Thunder, Pelicans, Timberwolves, Bucks, Heat, Lakers, Rockets, Warriors, Nuggets, Cavaliers, Bulls, Nets

2 Games - Hawks, Mavericks

1 Game - Wizards, Knicks

 

Week 14 Standard Leagues - Waiver Wire Pickups

I write my columns based on H2H 9-category standard size leagues:

Josh Jackson - SG/SF, SUNS (40% Ownership)

Jackson has played terrific as of late, and although it could be without Devin Booker (back), he could really well have earned himself big minutes down the stretch. He’s averaging 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.6 blocks and 1.2 3-pointers on 51 percent shooting over his last five games, so he's worth a look in all 12+ teams at the moment.

Kevin Huerter - SG/SF, HAWKS (35% Ownership)

Huerter earned himself must-own status this past week with a couple of strong performances, including a career-high 29 points against the 76ers on Friday, adding three rebounds, three assists, two steals and five 3-pointers in 39 minutes. The 6-foot-7 rookie is averaging over 35 minutes per game over the past 10 games, and he continues to log heavy minutes despite Taurean Prince (ankle) returning on Sunday. The Hawks seems to be focused on youth movement and Huerter shouldn't be on any waiver wires given his upside to contribute in multiple categories.

De'Anthony Melton - PG, SUNS (9% Ownership)

If you're looking for points, Melton may not be your guy. However, he's a strong add for those seeking defensive stats as he has the highest steal percentage in the NBA and is averaging 2.7 steals per 36 minutes. He's averaging 8.0 assists, 3.3 steals, and 1.6 blocks over the past three games and that's absolutely must-own territory from a point-guard position. He warrants a lot more ownership (currently 9%) given his upside and the potential to start the rest of the way for the Suns.

Reggie Bullock - SG/SF, PISTONS (27% Ownership)

Bullock is hot again, averaging 15.4 points, 3.3 assists, and 3.6 3-pointers made per game over the last five. There's no one on the Pistons roster whose going to challenge Bullock for minutes, so he'll continue to log heavy minutes since the Pistons need him to space the floor. He won't offer much outside of points and 3-pointers, but he's worth a look as long as he's hot.

Bryn Forbes - PG, SPURS (34% Ownership)

Forbes is now averaging 12.8 points, 4.2 boards, 0.8 steals and 2.2 triples over his last five games. If he's going to continue to play heavy minutes (33.4 minutes over last five) and hit his 3-pointers, he needs to be added in most leagues.

Richaun Holmes - PF/C, SUNS (28% Ownership)

Holmes is another guy who continues to impress in limited minutes. He's now reached double figures in three straight games and five of the Suns’ last six games. Despite having averaged just under 16 minutes per game on the season, he's putting remarkable numbers of the last five, with 12.8 points, 4.7 boards, 2.2 assists, 1.6 steals, and 1.4 blocks on an ultra-efficient 75 percent shooting. Make sure he's not available on your wire given how well he's played.

Tomas Satoransky - PG/SG, WIZARDS (62% Ownership)

With John Wall (heel surgery) out for the remainder of the season, Satoransky gets a major boost and immediately vaults himself into must-own status. When Wall missed two months last season, Satorsanky averaged 10.4 points, 4.2 boards and 6.0 assists and 1.1 3-pointers on 54% shooting and 90% from the line. That's good enough for top-75 in nine-category leagues, and he should be grabbed everywhere available. He was great on Friday night with a triple-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 dimes. He's one of those run, don't walk to the waiver wire moments.

Justise Winslow - SF/PF, HEAT (68% Ownership)

Winslow has taken a huge leap this season by adding 3-pointers into his game, and that's helped his fantasy value significantly. With Goran Dragic (knee) out, Winslow will continue to share the ball-handling duties with Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson. Winslow has been a top-30 player in nine-category leagues with 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.3 assists per game. He's also averaged 2.0 3-pointers and a steal per game as well.

Thomas Bryant - C, WIZARDS (51% Ownership)

Thomas Bryant continues to thrive in the starting lineup, and the injuries to both John Wall (heel surgery) and Markieff Morris (neck) will shift the offense into a more free-flowing offense and added minutes for Bryant. Bryant had a massive double-double with 18 points and 11 boards on Sunday night. He's worth a long look in all 12+ team leagues given that he can anchor your field goal percentage and rebound. He'll have some upside in blocks and can stretch the floor with his ability to hit 3-pointers.

Derrick White - PG, SPURS (55% Ownership)

White has earned himself a must-own status, having played over 30 minutes in the new year and he's played a lot better as of late. Perhaps he's over his heel injury and has earned the trust of Coach Popovich again. White has been a top-50 player in nine-category leagues over the past two weeks with averages of 17.1 points, 3.7 boards, 3.3 assists, 1.1 triples and a block per game. He's become quite a two-way player at the point guard position and he must be owned in all leagues going forward.

 

Week 14 Deeper Leagues - Waiver Wire Pickups

Justin Holiday - SG/SF, GRIZZLIES (33% Ownership)

Kyle Anderson (ankle) was hit with a 2-4 week timetable with a Grade-2 ankle sprain so Justin Holiday can get a chance to redeem some of the lost value when he got traded from the Chicago Bulls. It's not exactly encouraging since Holiday has been absolutely brutal lately, but he's worth a look to see if he can top 30 minutes per game over the next couple of weeks.

Alec Burks - PG/SG, CAVALIERS (23% Ownership)

Burks has played well enough to warrant attention in most leagues, and the Cavaliers will likely continue to feed him huge minutes to see what he can net them in return before the trading deadline. Burks has scored in double-digit scoring in three straight games heading into Sunday.

Austin Rivers - PG/SG, ROCKETS (21% Ownership)

Rivers is playing heavy minutes with all the injured Rockets lately, and he scored a season-high 25 points with four 3-pointers on Sunday. Rivers doesn't offer much outside of 3-pointers and assists, so don't expect any efficiency or any defensive stats at all from Rivers.

Mikal Bridges - SG/SF, SUNS (20% Ownership)

Bridges has been losing minutes to Josh Jackson lately, but he's still contributing in the defensive stats. At this point, he's worth a look in all 14+ team leagues given his defensive contributions and 3-pointers (1.8 steals, 1.2 blocks, 1.2 3-pointers over the last five) Keep your eyes on him and the tanking Phoenix Suns.

JaMychal Green - PF/C, Grizzlies (18% Ownership)

Not entirely sure how Green stays relevant, but he continues to play well off the bench. He has double-doubled in two straight games and is averaging 13.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.2 3-pointers over his last five games. The Grizzlies plays four games as well this week, so he's definitely worth adding given Jaren Jackson J.R. is likely to have at least one or two foul-plagued games.

Kelly Oubre Jr. - SF, SUNS (52% Ownership)

Oubre Jr. may have found a nice home in Phoenix, having played heavy minutes out the gate since he's been traded from Washington. He's scored 26, 14, and 26 points over the last three, giving the Suns a boost while Devin Booker (back) is out. He's certainly stepping up lately, so he's worth a look in most leagues as long as he's hot.
