Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox - Yesterday's Recap

Ellis Canady reviews last night's MLB box scores (8/28) and provides fun opinions on a variety of topics to help fantasy baseball owners with their lineups.

Welcome to the Wednesday, August 29th edition of Daily Slivers of the Fantasy Soapbox.

Discussing baseball is as fun as the game itself. It has a way of bringing people together to share different opinions about the sport we all love. A similar action can be done with fantasy baseball where we not only discuss topics but also look to improve our teams as well as the teams of our fellow fantasy baseball enthusiasts. Everyone has their own perspectives which are not to be cast off as frivolous. They should be used as a method of expanding our own knowledge.

In this article, I review the previous day's boxscores and provide my opinion on a variety of topics. Some will be random, some will be fun, and some will be stat-driven. It's a soapbox so I may rant from time to time as well. So without any further delay, below are my thoughts on August 29th. Enjoy them. You can even respond with your own thoughts on Twitter @EllisCan2.

Daily Musings

  • Max Scherzer, thank you for 11K in 8.1IP(last two starts). No W, but you’re still great. (which level of denial am I in?)
  • Maybe fewer HRs but Yadier Molina’s six-game hit streak is a welcome sight.
  • No decision. Jack Flaherty still has a 0.71ERA w/26.4%K-BB in Aug. (Six starts)
  • With each Keston Hiura homer(16), my heart hurts more that I came a few dollars short of an acquisition.
  • Paul Goldschmidt, please don’t hurt yourself. You’re just a long ball guy now. We will plan accordingly w/o your SB(2).
  • Five moonshots in six games, Aaron Judge has taken over the discussion.
  • Kyle Seager is hitting .349 w/11HR in last month. Only 56% owned. Are people too good for boring veterans?
  • Gary Sanchez makes it 30 dingers. It comes w/.234AVG. Was price tag worth it?
  • You don’t ring the bell, the Josh Bell rings you. 40HR might be possible despite long respite.
  • Corey Dickerson is in a groove. Up to nine big boy smacks.
  • J.T. Realmuto, you may not have Sanchez’ 30HR, but your 5.2WAR makes 20 wonderful in my book.
  • Freddie Freeman is the cream-of-the-crop first baseman.
  • Anthony DeSclafani cruises to another W. The ace of my staff in the second half. PHI next. Eesh.
  • Aristides Aquino(13) and Eugenio Suarez(38) sending long-distance love letters have become commonplace.
  • Francisco Lindor w/combo meal. If he gets to 30/25, all “discounts" will be lost.
  • Aaron Civale w/great streamer W. Hold onto him for CHW next.
  • Jason Kipnis w/two Detroit Rock City blasts(16). 25% owned. 9HR, 28RBI, .269AVG in the second half.
  • It’s final. Cubs, you must resign Nicholas Castellanos. 9HR, 22R, .365AVG in Aug
  • Jeff McNeil(16HR, .333AVG) & J.D. Davis (17HR, .304AVG) are perfect for every roster.
  • Sometimes, you get so drunk that the foot-on-the-floor/ceiling trick doesn’t work. The spin is still rooming. The only thing you can do is find a can, use your finger and get some it out. Noah Syndergaard w/3IP, 9ER. It might be finger time.
  • My man. Yuli Gurriel w/27th bat and hair toss.
  • Ryan Yarbrough, you did me proud (albeit on my bench vs. HOU). 6IP, 3ER, 5K.
  • Luis Arraez gets a little love and Jonathan Schoop shows his jealousy to tune of 5HR, 9RBI, .318 last week.
  • Matt Chapman, take care of that noggin.
  • Uh-oh. Max Muncy hit on wrist. Hopefully ok. Gavin Lux playing double-dutch on side.
  • Mitch Garver, you’re a dreamboat w/24 taters.
  • True, it is your roster; just trying to help. Mark Canha 53% owned. 6HR, 14RBI, .373AVG last 15 days. I know you heard it, deaf ears.
  • Eduardo Rodriguez w/Miracle in Coors. It highlights E-Rods 3ER in 5IP for 16W.
  • BoSox just gonna top off your offensive stats w/a few HR. J.D. Martinez(32), Xander Bogaerts w/2(30), and Rafael Devers(28)
  • Good ‘ol Kenley Jansen. Blows the save to get a W(four).
  • Nick Solak batting .357. Intriguing, especially w/series at Arlington & also four southpaws this week.
  • Have a great Thursday. Reach out to someone new and have a conversation.
  • No Fear, Just Fantasy.
