Counter Strike: Global Offensive DFS Picks (8/16/21) - DraftKings Daily Fantasy

Koby Hansons' DraftKings. DFS lineup picks for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on 8/16/21. He analyzes CS:GO slates and top targets for eSports DFS contests.

Welcome back, RotoBallers, to another edition of my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS picks.  Oh, how it is good to be back, the long-player break has come to a close as we finally get our first major tournament in almost a month. Our first tournament is the ESL Pro League Season 14, and we get a great slate to start us out as Heroic takes on the NA team of Bad News Bears, Vitality gets Ence, and lastly, Astralis taking on Spirit.

Today I'll be bringing you my Counter-Strike: Global Offensive DFS lineup picks, analysis, and advice for eSports DFS contests on DraftKings for Monday, August 16th, 2021, at 7:30 AM.

ESL Pro League Season 14

Best of 3

  • Bad News Bears (+500) vs. Heroic (-900)
  • Vitality (-200) vs. Ence (+145)
  • Astralis (-115) vs. Team Spirit (-115)

Captain Plays

CadiaN: The matchup is too juicy. He is the AWPer for this Heroic team and the opposing AWPer for BNB is Junior who I believe is nowhere close to the level that CadiaN is at when it comes to AWPing. Over the last three months, he has held a 1.14 K/D and is averaging a .70 KPR and a low .61 DPR which is definitely something we like seeing in AWPer. In this matchup, CadiaN should be able to feast as well as get the sweep bonuses. I also like the slight discount we get from going to CadiaN off of TeSeS. Who is also a great play from Heroic.

ZywOo: How can I not? He has been a Top 2 player and was the No.1 player in 2020. He carries an insane K/D at 1.29 and is averaging a .76 KPR with a very low .59 DPR. Over the last three months, he has only had one negative performance and is easily one of the most consistent and reliable players. I think this break was much needed for Vitality as it came down to the end they were struggling. Hopefully, we see a refreshed and focused ZywOo coming into this one as he looks to get Vitality back on track and reclimb the rankings.

Other captain plays in order of preference: TeSeS, mir, degster, Shox, Spinx(GPP)

Value Plays

sdy: I don't think you can go wrong with either sdy or magixx in this spot. I only chose Sdy because of his price. 6k is far too cheap for how close this game. I think there is a chance we could see OT even in one of these maps. And depending on the maps chosen, we could definitely see a 3 map match, which can lead to a lot of kills. I favor Spirit in this match ever so slightly as we have no clue as to how Astralis is going to be playing. They have been struggling and now have a 6 man roster where they could be implementing Lucky into the roster on some maps. In regards to sdy, he holds a 1.03 K/D and is averaging a .65 KPR and a .63 DPR. At 6k he is in a great spot to crush that price.

doto: This is definitely more of a GPP play but at 5,800 that is pretty cheap to take a shot at if you are taking a chance on ENCE to knock off Vitality. Doto can be a player that pops off on some occasions and has one of his better games against a Tier 1 team in Mousesports where he went +10 on the day with 39 kills in their win. Doto has a respectable 1.08 K/D with a .70 KPR and a .64 DPR. I wouldn't recommend rostering him by yourself but in your large GPP tournaments, he is a great option in your Ence stacks along with Spinx, Hades, or even Dycha has played well recently as well.

Other value plays in order of preference: stavn, Shox, gla1ve, magixx, hades(GPP), dycha(GPP), jonji(PUNT)

Top Stacks / Team Picks

Heroic: This is 100% a cash stack for sure, but it is definitely the safest option for all tournaments. Both the other games are very close and this one is more than likely the one to end in a sweep. Over the last three months, BNB's toughest games have all come in losses at the hands of LDLC, Mousesports, and Team Liquid. I would say Heroic is better than all three of those teams. The odds are definitely pointing towards a sweep as well.

The clear two options here for Heroic have definitely been cadiaN and TeSeS. They are expensive but have shown they are definitely the Top fraggers for the team. As it goes for the rest of the team, it's picking one out of a hat and play them. I like stavn based on his price over sjuush and has shown he has a bit more consistency than him. I can't justify playing sjuush at that price for the inconsistencies in his production. Refrezh is definitely a risk with how he has played over the last three months, but the level of competition here is much different, and I think it is worth a shot to take on him at his price.

Other Stacks: Vitality, Spirit, Ence(GPP)

Note: A couple of things here regarding who is playing as DK has some players listed out and that is just not the case, Degster is playing for Spirit and is not out. Allu is out for Ence. For BNB, both junior and Spongey are playing, and alter is not.

Note 2: In regards to Astralis, they now have a 6 man roster and have said that they are going to come out and use Lucky from Day 1. That means we have a chance at sub-risk. I think the most likely options to get subbed would be Xyp9x and Bubzjki. Gla1ve, Magisk, and Dupreeh all look like they would be safe from being subbed. So be wary rostering these players.
