Two Key Indiana Defenders are Out for Week 2 vs. Howard
Defending national champion Indiana will be without its two starting cornerbacks in a Week 2 matchup with FCS opponent Howard. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, both A.J. Harris and Jamari Sharpe have been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Bison after each of them exited the Hoosiers' season-opening victory over North Texas last week. While neither player is expected to miss extended time, their absence will impact an Indiana secondary that allowed North Texas quarterback Tayven Jackson to complete 22 of 28 passes for 192 yards during last week's 52-16 victory. Sharpe has been with Indiana since 2022, playing 16 games while recording six passes defensed and an interception a year ago. Harris is in his first season with the Hoosiers after transferring from Penn State. Howard quarterback Ja'Shawn Scroggins is coming off a rough performance during a 28-21 loss to Richmond last week, during which he completed just 9 of 28 passes for 109 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
