Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups - Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Kyle Monangai Fantasy Football Outlooks

Will Shipley - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Week 9 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley, Kyle Monangai in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

During Week 8 of the fantasy football season, Philadelphia Eagles Saquon Barkley (groin) exited the game with a groin injury. While the Eagles are off in Week 9, this injury could linger, opening the door for their depth options to become must-start fantasy options.

In Chicago, a late-round rookie running back has seen his role gradually increase and could slowly be emerging as a league-winner.

So, should fantasy managers add Bigsby, Shipley, or Monangai in Week 9? Let's dive in and find out.

Tank Bigsby Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 20% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in All Leagues

The former Jaguar was the primary beneficiary when Barkley exited this contest. Bigsby logged nine carries and tallied an impressive 104 yards. After taking just one attempt from Weeks 2 through 7, Bigsby immediately emerged as the No. 2 option. This suggests he should be viewed as the primary waiver wire target in the Philadelphia backfield.

While the matchup against the weak Giants defense (seventh-most PPR points allowed to opposing RBs this season) was favorable for a breakout, Bigsby showed that he is more than capable of leading the Philadelphia rushing attack.

Last season, Bigsby split time with Travis Etienne Jr., but was often the more effective option. In 2024, Bigsby posted a solid 4.0 YPC but was rarely startable for fantasy purposes as he was never in the lead role in the backfield.

While Barkley will have ample time to heal in time for their Week 10 matchup against the Green Bay Packers, Bigsby is a top stash option as he could enter must-start RB2 stashes if Barkley were to miss any time going forward.

Will Shipley Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 5% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12-team leagues

The other option to monitor in the Philadelphia backfield is second-year running back Will Shipley. Shipley opened the season as the team's No. 2 option and took three carries for 26 yards in Week 1. However, in this contest, he suffered a rib injury, which kept him on the shelf for the following two games.

In Weeks 4 through 7, Shipley was very limited as he logged just one total rushing attempt and caught just two of his four targets for 11 yards. However, like Bigsby, Shipley saw an increase in opportunities this weekend when Barkley exited the contest.

During their victory over the Giants, Shipley took three carries for just two yards. While Bigsby was far more effective in his opportunities, Shipley figures to have a role if Barkley were to miss time, especially on passing downs.

While managers should not rush to the waiver wire like they should for Bigsby, managers in deeper 12+ team PPR formats should consider stashing for the former Clemson standout ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Packers. If Barkley were to miss time, Shipley figures to be the primary option on third down while Bigsby handles the early-down work

Kyle Monangai Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 45% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in All Leagues

The final running back we will look at in this piece is Kyle Monangai of the Chicago Bears. Unlike the names mentioned above, the Rutgers product may not need to wait for an injury to carve out a larger role in his backfield. After averaging just 4.4 rushing attempts per game over his first five games in his career, Monangai has seen his opportunities drastically increase over the last two weeks.

In Week 7, Monangai took 13 carries for 81 yards and his first career rushing score during their victory over the Saints. In this contest, Monangai also caught two of his three targets for 13 yards. Then, in their loss to the Ravens on Sunday afternoon, Monangai took a slight step back, logging seven carries for just 24 yards.

While he did not have his most effective day on the ground, seeing Monangai remain involved, despite being the No. 2 option to D'Andre Swift, is a very positive sign for his long-term outlook.

During this two-game stretch, Monangai has seen 45% of the snaps per game while Swift has seen 52% of the snaps. However, Swift has taken 15.0 rushing attempts per game over this two-game stretch.

Given his gradual increase in opportunities, Monangai is a priority target heading into Week 9. Monangai could carry standalone FLEX upside on a weekly basis in the coming weeks with high-upside stash value if Swift were to miss time.
