Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups - Keon Coleman, Troy Franklin, Kayshon Boutte Fantasy Football Outlooks

Keon Coleman - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL DFS Picks

Week 9 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Keon Coleman, Troy Franklin, Kayshon Boutte in 2025. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.

Week 8 of NFL action is almost fully in the books. Aside from a Monday Night Football matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Washington Commanders, there are no more games left to play this week.

This means we have all the information we need to evaluate waiver wire pickups for Week 9, aside from players on the remaining teams. So this includes Buffalo Bills wideout Keon Coleman, Denver Broncos WR Troy Franklin, and New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte.

Each player is rostered in at least a decent percentage of leagues, so they might not be available in all the leagues where you might want to pick them up. But which are worth grabbing ahead of Week 9?

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Keon Coleman Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 68% of Leagues

Baller Move: Don't Add

There still isn't much reason to add Coleman. It doesn't appear that any game script will be in his favor, and he has no chance of taking over the team's WR1 job. Coleman had a big game in Week 1 and, since then, has failed to reach double-digit PPR fantasy points.

In Week 8, in a blowout win against the Carolina Panthers, Coleman played in 73 percent of the offensive snaps, yet was targeted just four times, catching three passes for 30 yards. He finished with six PPR fantasy points, and it's hard to project him taking a leap at this point.

He doesn't have great separation skills, just like in college. He often won with size and physicality, but against the stronger, faster, and tougher defensive backs that the NFL features, this doesn't work as well. And like most receivers, he doesn't always connect with quarterback Josh Allen.

Right now, Khalil Shakir is the only receiver worth starting consideration in fantasy football. The rest are too uninvolved and too inconsistent.

Troy Franklin Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 33% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12-team leagues

Franklin had a huge game in Week 8. It came against the lowly Dallas Cowboys defense, who have struggled all season. He caught six of his eight targets for 89 yards and two touchdowns. It seems that he's coming into his own, but he's still an inconsistent option for fantasy football.

With 26.9 PPR fantasy points, it makes sense to add him, but he'll likely still be prone to bust games. And he played basically the same number of offensive snaps as last week, when he scored 12.9 points, and the week before, when he had just 3.1 points.

We'll see if his targets remain high, but not playing at least 80 percent of the team's snaps makes it difficult for WRs to consistently produce. Franklin might rely on more contests against terrible pass defenses to put up gaudy stat lines again.

His problems with drops, lack of ball security when making catches, and other weaknesses in his game have carried over from Year 1, though he's made modest improvements. It's the presence of Pat Bryant that won't be super fun moving forward -- the two could wrestle for the WR2 job with Marvin Mims Jr. playing more of a gadget role.

Franklin has had a decent number of gadget-designed plays this year, too, so that's not great for his season-long outlook.

Kayshon Boutte Week 9 Waiver Wire Pickups

Rostered: 53% of Leagues

Baller Move: Add in 12-Team Leagues

Boutte had yet another solid game in Week 8, catching three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown on his five targets. It's now the third game in a row he's scored, and he has four TDs over the past three contests. Boutte seems to be developing as a big-play threat.

This likely won't come with a lot of consistency, but a rising tide lifts all boats, and Patriots quarterback Drake Maye already looks like one of the best signal-callers in the league in his second year. As long as he doesn't get injured, that probably won't change.

Boutte's target numbers are still not impressive, but as a boom-or-bust flex play, he now has a ton of appeal. He's worth adding in leagues with 12 or more teams or those with deep starting lineups, at least, because of his pure upside.

But in the five games without a TD this season, he's averaged just below eight PPR fantasy points, which isn't great. And that includes a 16.8 PPR fantasy point performance in Week 1, which he hasn't repeated.
