We are nearing the end of June and have another round of FAAB bids to make. This week, we will highlight a few emerging bats in the Milwaukee starting nine. On the pitching side, we have a closer with a clear path to double-digit saves, who remains quite under-rostered.
Our series about FAAB fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups continues as we head into Week 14 of the 2025 MLB season -- June 30 through July 6. This waiver wire article will recommend free agents to target and how much FAAB you should allocate for them.
Each week, I will break down at least one player from each position with ownership percentages under 40 percent in Yahoo! leagues who could improve your roster and provide you with an added boost in several categories. Let's get to it!

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Hitters to Target
Drake Baldwin, C, Atlanta Braves

FAAB Bid: <35% if needing a No. 2 catcher, <10% for others
Somehow, Drake Baldwin is available in nearly 80% of Yahoo! leagues. While his playing time does limit his upside, the rookie backstop has continued to hit at an elite level and is proving he should be viewed as a low-end C1 in the second half.
Through 53 games this season, Baldwin has posted an elite .288/.358/.487 slsash line nine long balls. He has generated a stellar .366 xwOBA, .291 xBA, and a .485 xSLG. With Adley Rutschman (oblique) hitting the IL, if you need a catcher, check the waiver wire for Baldwin.

Kyle Teel, C, Chicago White Sox

FAAB Bid: <7% if needing a No. 2 catcher, <2% for others
For our deeper league managers, Kyle Teel has held his own during his first two weeks of the majors and is proving to be a viable No.2 catcher in all formats. During his first 14 games in the majors, the former 14th overall pick has held a respectable .282/.408/.359 line. He has shown an elite eye at the plate, posting a 16.3% walk rate.
Even though he may not fill the stat sheet with counting stats playing for the White Sox, he is a high-floor No. 2 catcher going forward.
Other C to consider: Dillon Dingler DET
Luke Raley, 1B/OF, Seattle Mariners

FAAB Bid: <8%
Raley missed the entirety of May with an oblique injury. During his first four-game back in action, Raley went 5-for-15 with a home run, a double, and six RBI.
While he typically sits against southpaws, he has been very productive in a platoon role. Last season, Raley held a solid .243/.320/.463 liner with 22 home runs and 112 stolen bases. Under the hood, he has generated a stellar .397 xwOBA with a 13.3% barrel rate. Raley has 20+ HR upside with the skill set to chip in double-digit stolen bases.
Pavin Smith, 1B/OF, Arizona Diamondbacks

FAAB Bid: <7%
After a monster April where he posted a .318/.458/.591 line, Smith was a power waiver wide add during the first month of the season. However, after posting an underwhelming .240/.313/.320 in May, he was dropped in most leagues.
The 29-year-old was able to break this skid and go deep four times over his last 11 games. While he is in a strict platoon role like Raley, he will continue to hold value, especially in daily lineup formats.
His 46.4% hard-hit rate and 12.0% barrel rate suggest his power production should remain stable throughout the summer.
Other 1B to consider: Abraham Toro BOS, Casey Schmitt SFG
Nick Gonzales, 2B, Pittsburgh Pirates

FAAB Bid: <6%
The former seventh overall pick was on the shelf since March with a fractured ankle. However, since returning to action on June 3, Gonzales has been one of the few bright spots in the Pittsburgh starting nine. Through his first 21 games of the season, Gonzales has posted a strong .301/.330/.494 line. He has gone deep there at times and added two doubles.
His .278 xBA and 42.6% LA sweet-spot rate suggest he should continue to be a strong batting average contributor with the potential to hit double-digit round-trippers.
Christian Moore, 2B, Los Angeles Angels

FAAB Bid: <13% if needing power, <5% for others
After a slow start to his MLB career, going just 3-for-20 at the dish, Moore has begun to find his footing, going 4-for-22 with three home runs over his last six games.
While Moore has shown elite power upside as he progressed through the minor leagues, his batting average will likely hinder his overall upside. If you are falling behind in power, don't be afraid to take a flyer on Moore.

Caleb Durbin, 2B/SS/3B, Milwaukee Brewers

FAAB Bid: <9%
The 25-year-old was a star in the Arizona Fall League, swiping an impressive 29 bags. He was even included in the package that sent closer Devin Williams to the Bronx in the winter.
However, his time in Milwaukee got off to a slow start, as he posted a low .204 AVG through his first 48 games. However, over his last 12 games, the rookie has beugn ot find his swing, posting a .349/.396/.488 line with two long balls. In deeper leagues, Durbin may be one of the few players on your waiver wire that has legit 15/15 upside.
Caleb Durbin is one of the hottest hitters in the sport.

Joey Ortiz, 3B/SS, Milwaukee Brewers

We will also take a look at Durbin's teammate, Joey Ortiz. Ortiz has also been able to break out of his early-season skid in a big way, posting a .389 AVG with two home runs over his last nine games.
Similar to Durbin, Ortiz possesses solid power and speed upside, which is valuable in deeper formats. However, fantasy managers in shallow leagues should put a light bid on Ortiz, given is a low .290 xwOBA under the hood.
Casey Schmitt, 1B/2B/3B/SS, San Francisco Giants

FAAB Bid: <15%
After holding a modest .633 OPS across his first 130 MLB contests during the 2023 and 2024 campaigns, the third-year hitter has begun to take the next steps in his development in 2025. Through 34 contests this season, Schmitt has posted an impressive .276/.360/.439 line with four doubles and four home runs.
While he is currently day-to-day with a wrist injury, this could be a great opportunity for fantasy managers to acquire him on a cheaper bid. Under the hood, the utility infielder boasts a .380 xwOBA, .295 xBA, .500 xSLG, and a 41.4% LA sweet-spot rate, all of which suggest a breakout campaign may be in play.

Tyler Freeman, 2B/SS/OF, Colorado Rockies

Moving to Colorado for a struggling hitter is never a bad idea, and in this piece, we have two! First is utility man Tyler Freeman. Last season in Cleveland, Freeman saw close to an everyday role, appearing in 118 games, but he posted an underwhelming .209/.305/.321 with a low .626 OPS.
However, through his first 34 games in Colorado, the 26-year-old is on pace to smash his previous production, posting a .324/.409/.432 line. While his power production may not be consistent, especially on the road (44.2% hard-hit rate). However, his .319 xBA and solid 75th percentile sprint suggest he could be a viable three-category contributor serving as their leadoff hitter.

Chandler Simpson, OF, Tampa Bay Rays

FAAB Bid: <22% if needing speed, <12% for others
Welcome back to the big leagues, Chandler Simpson. The speedy outfielder swiped 19 bags with a .285 AVG across his first 35 MLB contests. Through his first three games back in Tampa, he has gone 3-for-123 with a triple.
If you need speed, place your bid accordingly. Players with 45+ SB potential are never on waivers.
Wenceel Perez, OF, Detroit Tigers

FAAB Bid: <12%
Wenceel Perez made my column last week and has continued to hit at a high level. Over his last 13 contests, Perez has posted an impressive .306/.340/.633 slash line with three doubles, two triples, three home runs, one stolen base, and a 10:3 K:BB.
While his elite power production will likely regress, he is a must-add in all five outfielder leagues as he rides this surge.
Mickey Moniak, OF, Colorado Rockies

FAAB Bid: <8%
The other player who has transitioned well to his move to Colorado is Mickey Moniak. Last season in Los Angeles, the former first overall pick posted a .219/.266/.380 line. He opened the new year with the Angels but was eventually released on waivers shortly before the start of the regular season.
However, since joining Colorado, Moniak has held a .240/.292/.490 line with six doubles, five triples, and 11 home runs. His .244 xBA is not overly promising, but he should remain a viable target when looking for power, given his 73.7 mph bat speed and 11.1% barrel rate, especially during a home stand at Coors Field.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pitchers to Target
Jacob Lopez, SP, Athletics

FAAB Bid: <13%
Athletics left-hander Jacob Lopez has been one of the most impressive pitchers over the last two weeks. Since allowing five runs on June 3, the lefty has gone on to log 23 innings to the tune of a 0.39 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP. During this stretch, he has struck out 29 batters.
His impressive 3.30 xERA and .208 xBA suggest he should remain a viable back-end starter going forward.

Chase Burns, SP, Cincinnati Reds

FAAB Bid: <40%
Even though he sits over the 40% roster mark, he seems to abound in nearly half of Yahoo! leagues as of writing. Prepare to dump your FAAB on the former second overall pick. In his MLB debut, Burns struck out eight Yankees across five innings of three-run ball.
In the minors this season, Burns posted an incredible 1.77 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP through 66 innings of work. Pitchers of this caliber are never on the waiver wire. He carries Paul Skenes-esque potential and is a must-add wherever available.
Charlie Morton, SP, Baltimore Orioles
18% rostered
FAAB Bid: <8%
Charlie Morton was written off after his disastrous April. However, since May 10, the veteran right-hander has posted a rather impressive 2.68 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP.
The driving force behind his resurgence has been his curveball. This pitch has been deployed just over 40% of the time and has generated a stellar .281 xwOBA and a .259 xwOBA through May and June.
Other SPs to consider: Lucas Giolito BOS, Colton Gordon HOU, Emmet Sheehan LAD
Shelby Miller, RP, Arizona Diamondbacks

FAAB Bid: <22% if needing saves
Somehow, top closer in Arizona, Shelby Miller, still sits under the 30% roster mark. With Justin Martinez (elbow) and A.J. Puk (elbow) both out for the season, Miller is in the sole position to remain the top closer in the desert.
Over his last 11 1/3 innings, Miller has allowed just two runs, struck out 13 batters, and tallied four saves.
Grant Taylor, RP, Chicago White Sox

FAAB Bid: <7% if needing saves
For deeper league managers, take a look at Grant Taylor. While Taylor will not see many save opportunities, he appears to be the go-to option on the south side. Through his first eight innings in the majors, Taylor has tallied one save and three holds.
He has struck out eight batters and has allowed just three runs (two earned). Earlier this summer, Taylor struck out 37 batters through 26 2/3 innings at Double-A.

Samuel Basallo, C, Baltimore Orioles

FAAB Bid: <7%
With Burns, Roman Anthony, and Jac Caglianone now all in the majors, just two names sit as "must-stash" options. The 20-year-old backstop has been one of the best power hitters at Triple-A this season, posting a .265/.380/.576 line with 15 home runs.
Top catcher in Baltimore, Adley Rutschman (oblique), recently hit the IL and is expected to remain out through the All-Star break. If this injury lingers, Basallo could be in a prime position to earn the call.
