Nick Mariano's fantasy football waiver wire FAAB bidding guide for Week 7 (2024) -- how many FAAB dollars (free agent acquisition budget) to spend on waivers.
We're nearing the halfway mark of our fantasy regular season, which means you should know how risky you should be with that free-agent wallet. As always, joining our famous waiver wire pickups list and our weekly fantasy football waiver wire columns by position, this column focuses on suggested waiver wire bidding percentages in fantasy football leagues using a Free Agent Acquisition Budget (FAAB).
As a caveat, these prices do not indicate how much these free-agent players will go for, especially as some leagues have seen teams use all of their FAAB already. Each league values players differently, so context is king. These values provide a baseline or priority order to understand roughly how much you should be looking to spend on a particular player, with different categories of bids reflecting potential team-need situations.
You should know what FAAB runs in your league look like in terms of how many active managers you're vying with, all while keeping one eye on who is getting dropped. Some of you may have the luxury of making playoff-focused adds with strong starts. Let's jump into my median FAAB bid ranges and adds going into Week 7 with the Bears and Cowboys taking the week off.
FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups - Quarterbacks
*Be sure that Sam Darnold (56% rostered, vs. DET) isn’t available first! Also, consider Tua Tagovailoa (44% rostered) if you can stash him for another couple of weeks.
Drake Maye (QB, NE) - 6% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-3%
Aggressive Bid: 3-4%
Making his first NFL start, Maye looked overwhelmed by Houston’s defense early on with a three-and-out and interception on his first two drives. He gained momentum going into halftime with a 40-yard strike to Kayshon Boutte and would wind up with 342 yards, three TDs, and a pair of INTs alongside five carries for 38 yards.

This is more than Jacoby Brissett has produced all year and landed Maye as a top-eight fantasy QB on the week. The Pats didn’t have Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) to lean on so keep that in mind, though NE will often find themselves trailing in 2024. Perhaps not in Week 7, however, as a London game against a broken Jacksonville team is on tap.
After that, it gets rough for Maye. He’ll face the Jets, Tennessee, and Chicago in three straight weeks. It’ll be a true baptism by fire for the rookie behind a questionable-at-best offensive line against those stout secondaries. Y’all can fire up the JAX matchup but then temper expectations.
Daniel Jones (QB, NYG) - 21% rostered
FAAB Bid: 0-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Yes, Jones flopped on primetime with 22-of-41 passing for 205 yards and an interception. But he also ran the ball 11 times in a second consecutive game, this time for a season-high 56 yards.
While he delivered in Week 5 without Malik Nabers, asking for back-to-back pops without the star rookie was too much. Hopefully, he returns to lead the WR corps again in Week 7 against Philadelphia’s volatile secondary.
Aside from facing Pittsburgh in Week 8, the Giants will face Philly (ninth-most fantasy points to opposing QBs), Washington (seventh), Carolina (fourth), and Tampa Bay (sixth) over their next five games.
Matthew Stafford (QB, LAR) - 37% rostered
FAAB Bid: 0-1%
Aggressive Bid: 1-2%
Stafford may get Cooper Kupp, who had a good workout on Monday, back in Week 7 as the Rams host a spiraling Raiders team that may or may not return Davante Adams. Stafford has attempted under 30 passes in three games while chucking it 45 and 49 times in the two other contests.
The Rams' defense won’t win any games on its own, but the Raiders may not push the tempo enough to unleash the gunslinger. But Weeks 8-10 line him up for the Vikings, Seahawks, and Dolphins (with Tua?), with Puka Nacua possibly rejoining the ranks within the window.
FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups - Running Backs
RBs in the 40-60% rostered range to consider: Tank Bigsby, Alexander Mattison, Tyrone Tracy Jr., Antonio Gibson, Braelon Allen, Jaylen Warren
Tyler Allgeier (RB, ATL) - 30% rostered
FAAB Bid: 10-15%
Aggressive Bid: 15-22%
Desperation Bid: 22-30%
Allgeier and Bijan Robinson beat the brakes off of Carolina’s defense, each putting up top-10 performances. Allgeier outcarried Robinson 18 to 15, with 105 yards to the starter’s 95. The overall 38-20 victory offered a perfect game script for both to pounce. Next week’s date with Seattle could provide the same.
Don’t forget that a big driver of Robinson’s ADP was the fantasy playoff schedule being the Raiders, Giants, and Commanders in Weeks 15-17. While the Commanders have improved their lot on offense, we just saw Derrick Henry demolish them on the ground. This could make Allgeier a massive resource in the playoffs.

Isaac Guerendo (RB, SF) - 4% rostered
FAAB Bid: 7-12%

Guerendo was the next man up in San Francisco’s running back room on Thursday after Jordan Mason exited with an AC joint sprain. The rookie illustrated why he pops on all measures of athleticism, notching 99 yards on 10 carries that could’ve been more. His RAS (Raw Athleticism Score) was off of the charts!
Isaac Guerendo averaged 6.1 YPA last season.
His 4.11 Yard after contact per attempt was 14th in CFB.
His RAS score was ranked 2nd out of ALL RB backs since 1987.

With under two minutes in the fourth, he burst through the right side of the line with so much speed that the safety completely whiffed on his angle. Guerendo could’ve had an 81-yard TD but slid after 76 to make Seattle burn more timeouts. He seems built for outside concepts with his size/speed combo.
If Mason and Christian McCaffrey aren’t back for Sunday’s tilt against the Chiefs, then Guerendo could be in for a massive day in the Super Bowl rematch. Those in even deeper leagues will note that Patrick Taylor Jr. looked like the passing-down back.
Ty Chandler (RB, MIN) - 27% rostered

We await word on Aaron Jones’ week-to-week hip injury that he sustained in Week 5, but one would think he’d be limited at best. Early reports from Monday’s practice had Jones on the field but the situation remains murky.
Chandler hasn’t run particularly well this year but did pop for 82 yards on 10 carries against San Francisco in Week 2 and had a 32-yard run last week that was nullified by a penalty. He could get 18 or more touches in Week 7 versus Detroit, with a soft Rams defense on tap for Week 8 if Jones’ injury lingers.
Kimani Vidal (RB, LAC) - 11% rostered
FAAB Bid: 6-10%
Aggressive Bid: 10-15%
Desperation Bid: 15-20%
Gus Edwards was ineffective early in ‘24 and is now on the injured reserve (ankle), which sprung Vidal onto the active roster behind J.K. Dobbins. The rookie’s first NFL touch was a 30-yard wheel route that he took to the house. He would later add another 10-yard catch and 11 rushing yards on four carries.
Dobbins remained the alpha workhorse with 27 touches as the Chargers now get a vulnerable Arizona front seven. Perhaps they work Vidal into the gameplan more now that he’s flashed the talent. It’s difficult to imagine them wanting to put Dobbins on a 250-carry pace all season long. Let’s see if Vidal’s usage trends up in the coming weeks.
Jaylen Wright (RB, MIA) - 9% rostered
FAAB Bid: 3-6%
Aggressive Bid: 6-8%
Desperation Bid: 8-12%
Wright ran for 86 yards on 13 carries in Week 5’s win over New England, with the bulk of his work coming after De’Von Achane left due to a concussion. Miami had their bye this week, which may have given Achane enough time to recuperate and clear the protocol. If he's still available, then perhaps it speaks to your league's lack of an appetite for his services, and you can slide in a lower bid range.
Wright is a plus stash due to his explosive ceiling but wouldn’t be a fantasy factor unless Achane misses Week 7 at Indianapolis. He’s still a good long-term bet against the health of Achane and Raheem Mostert, with Miami’s offensive prospects set to improve whenever Tua Tagovailoa returns from his head injury.
Trey Benson (RB, ARI) - 19% rostered
FAAB Bid: 2-3%
Aggressive Bid: 3-4%
Desperation Bid: 4-6%
Benson quietly led Arizona with 26 rushing yards on just five carries as the Cards got slammed 34-13 by the Packers. Now 2-4 and having lost Marvin Harrison Jr. to a head injury, the Cardinals may start looking to 2025 soon.
James Conner has generally performed well but only gained 24 yards on seven carries (with 4-22-0 receiving on five targets) as Arizona sputtered early. Emari Demercado also had 4-25-0 rushing and 5-39-0 receiving. It was a messy game in messy weather.
It could simply be the blowout led to more work shed for Conner, as Benson had zero touches in Week 5’s close 24-23 victory over San Francisco. But the 2024 Cardinals appear more likely to get blown out than win, especially if Harrison Jr. misses time. Benson should be stashed on RB-hungry teams.
Sean Tucker (RB, TB) - 0% rostered
FAAB Bid: 2-3%
Aggressive Bid: 3-4%
Desperation Bid: 4-6%
Tucker popped off as the RB1 in Week 6, totaling 136 yards and a TD on 14 carries with another 3-56-1 line through the air. The Syracuse alum was signed by the Bucs as an undrafted free agent last year but failed to make any impact, rushing for 23 yards on 15 carries at the bottom of the depth chart.
But Rachaad White’s foot injury opened the door for Tucker to work in tandem with Bucky Irving, who had 105 total yards and a TD of his own. This could turn into a dreadful three-man committee when White is back. Or perhaps White is truly pushed into passing duties given his history of rushing inefficiency. First, let’s provide more context for Tucker’s day.
He caught three passes on the day, one each in the first, second, and third quarters. None were by design, but that didn’t stop him from making an impact by gaining first downs on all three, with one going well beyond for a 36-yard score.
And while the rushing work was appreciated and impressive, only one carry occurred before 8:38 left in the third quarter (when he got three carries within a few minutes). All but four carries came before the fourth, though it wasn’t a runaway victory until the fourth anyway. Tampa was only up 31-27 as the final quarter began!
Overall, it’s a great day that will live on in the DFS Hall of Fame for a lucky few, but the party likely stops here. The performance was built on the fourth quarter as a wiped Saints defense cratered. Irving looked good and White shouldn’t be out long.
But the Bucs seem dedicated to White despite his lackluster rushing performance. And they’ll put these three-headed dragon comments to the test against a tough Baltimore defense. Bid carefully!

Pierre Strong Jr. (RB, CLE) - 0% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 3-5%
Ford was forced from Week 6 early with a hamstring injury that the team is calling week-to-week. D’Onta Foreman looked slow, averaging three yards a carry on 10 totes with a couple of catches for 16 yards. But Strong averaged over five yards a pop (8-43-0) with 35 yards on his two catches.
This is not to say Strong is suddenly a potential starter as the team has already announced Nick Chubb is set to return in Week 7 against the Bengals. But Strong could be the complement to Chubb as they ease him back in. Cincy has surrendered weeks of 95 or more total yards to an opposing RB in five of six games played. Let’s see if a rep count for Chubb is announced at all.

FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups - Wide Receivers
JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR, KC) - 32% rostered
FAAB Bid: 10-15%
Aggressive Bid: 15-25%
Desperation Bid: 25-35%
This writer realizes it is difficult to allow one game to overwrite the past few down years for Smith-Schuster, but the opportunity is here in a proven concept for him. Smith-Schuster has the trust of Patrick Mahomes and the team to step into Rashee Rice’s slot role, which delivered seven catches and 130 yards in Week 5.
One can’t expect anywhere near Rice’s level of consistency, and perhaps they come out of the bye with more packages for Xavier Worthy, but JJSS needs to be rostered in most formats as one of Mahomes’ go-to receivers.
Romeo Doubs (WR, GB) - 35% rostered
Christian Watson (WR, GB) - 41% rostered
FAAB Bid: 8-12% RD / 6-10% CW
Aggressive Bid: 12-16% / 10-14%
Desperation Bid: 16-25% / 14-20%
Doubs and Watson only combined for six receptions on Sunday but had three TDs between them as Dontayvion Wicks was forced out with a shoulder injury. Wicks is considered week-to-week and has not impressed of late.
Watson’s return from an ankle injury led to three catches for 68 yards, including a 44-yard score, while Doubs’s return from his one-game suspension rooted in personal absences yielded a trio of catches for 49 yards and two TDs. Jayden Reed did briefly leave with an ankle injury but he’s fine.
This illustrates their roles well, with Watson being the big-play threat and Doubs being a trusted red-zone weapon. Games against Houston, Jacksonville, and Detroit over the next three weeks could supply a similar pallet of fireworks.
Demario Douglas (WR, NE) - 7% rostered
FAAB Bid: 6-8%
Aggressive Bid: 8-12%
Desperation Bid: 12-15%
Douglas joined Kayshon Boutte and Kendrick Bourne as the starting WRs, with HC Jerod Mayo saying Ja'Lynn Polk still has to clear a "mental hump." Drake Maye improved the outlook for all Patriot receivers, with Pop Douglas resuming his ‘23 role as the go-to possession receiver with six catches for 92 yards and his first career TD on nine targets. If he gets more focused work, then we're eating.
Jerod Mayo says the coaching staff will consider utilizing DeMario Douglas more in two-receiver sets.

Michael Wilson (WR, ARI) - 16% rostered

Kyler Murray had an awful time on Sunday, especially after Marvin Harrison Jr. exited with a head injury. But Wilson salvaged his day by catching the lone Arizona TD, giving him a 2-21-1 line on four targets for his third game above 10 PPR points in his last four.
Zay Jones missed five games due to suspension and then this sixth contest with a hamstring injury but could step up and cloud the WR depth chart without MHJ. For now, Wilson and Greg Dortch appear safest, with Jones and Xavier Weaver mixing in if Harrison cannot go in Week 7 versus the Chargers.
Jordan Whittington (WR, LAR) - 9% rostered
FAAB Bid: 5-7%
Aggressive Bid: 7-10%
Desperation Bid: 10-14%
Attention is shifting with Cooper Kupp (ankle) likely to play in Week 7, with Puka Nacua (knee) ideally not far behind. We’ve seen Demarcus Robinson pop as the team’s WR3 late last year before Tutu Atwell titillated teams for a brief spell here as Whittington’s workload swung.
Looking back at Week 5 before their bye, the Rams had Whittington see 10 targets on 41 routes run and 72 snaps, per FPDS. His versatility led to success across the field, but his run-blocking prowess may be what earns him a long-term role. Per PFF, Whittington leads all Rams WRs with a 69.6 run-block grade. Atwell is next at 60, with Robinson and Tyler Johnson at 48.
Jalen Tolbert (WR, DAL) - 35% rostered
FAAB Bid: 5-7%
Aggressive Bid: 7-10%
Desperation Bid: 10-14%
The Cowboys now enter their bye but don’t forget that Tolbert is the No. 2 WR and may not cede the role to Brandin Cooks (knee) when the latter comes off of the IR. Dallas stunk it up so Tolbert’s meager 4-43-0 line was still relatively decent! He’ll be needed as Dallas will require plenty of offense against the 49ers in Week 8.
Xavier Legette (WR, CAR) - 19% rostered
FAAB Bid: 4-6%
Aggressive Bid: 6-8%
Desperation Bid: 8-12%
Legette brought in 3-of-4 targets for 23 yards and his second touchdown of the season to buoy his fantasy line as Carolina got embarrassed by Atlanta. The TD was a nice go-up-and-get-it catch in the back of the end zone, with Fantasy Points Data Suite giving Legette four EZ targets.
That trails Diontae Johnson’s nine, but no other Panther has any beyond Adam Thielen’s one. He could have a decent game against Washington in a negative Week 7 game script.
Gabe Davis (WR, JAC) - 17% rostered
FAAB Bid: 4-6%
Aggressive Bid: 6-8%
Desperation Bid: 8-12%
Davis was the only Jaguar to have a good day in Week 6, but even his 5-45-2 line had fleas. Two of the three missed targets were TDs that bounced off of his hands, which Buffalo fans can tell is a familiar sight with Davis. To be fair, Christian Kirk and Brian Thomas Jr. also lost should-be TDs to the gravity gods.
The bull case is that Davis leads the team with seven end-zone targets despite a 17.2% overall first-read target that is fourth on the team. One could talk themselves into Davis getting more focus toward the red zone, but a healthy Evan Engram with Kirk and Thomas likely forces him into a TD-dependent corner. Davis also trails Thomas and Kirk in air yards.
Bub Means (WR, NO) - 0 % rostered
FAAB Bid: 4-6%
Aggressive Bid: 6-8%
Desperation Bid: 8-12%
Means led all Saints with eight targets, seven first-read targets, five catches, and a TD in Spencer Rattler’s first NFL start. He got plenty of work in Chris Olave’s role after the starter left the game early due to a hard hit to the helmet that caused a fumble.
Rashid Shaheed also suffered a knee injury late and is in limbo for Week 7 since they play on Thursday against Denver. The Broncos could be missing Patrick Surtain II after he entered concussion protocol on Sunday, which may see the Means-Rattler chemistry supply another useful game.

Noah Brown (WR, WAS) - 1% rostered

Brown led the Commanders with eight targets in Week 6, catching four for 58 yards and pacing the team with 100 air yards. FPDS only charted him with 24 routes on 42 drop backs as Olamide Zaccheaus (18), Luke McCaffrey (17), and Dyami Brown (14) didn’t simply disappear. This is a potent offense, and we saw Brown erupt with opportunity for Houston last season so don’t sleep here, just in case they commit to one No. 2.
Troy Franklin (WR, DEN) - 1% rostered
Devaughn Vele (WR, DEN) - 0% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-3% / 0-2%
Aggressive Bid: 3-4% / 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 4-5% / 3-4%
Franklin had two catches for 31 yards and a touchdown while Vele led the team with 78 yards on four catches. It was not a great day for Bo Nix against the Chargers, but Vele and Franklin made good on Josh Reynolds’ (finger) vacated targets. With Reynolds on the IR, this next month is crucial for anyone who wants a consistent role in this offense moving forward.
You recall Vele had a Wan'Dale Robinson-esque 8-39-0 line in Week 1 before being a healthy scratch in Weeks 2-5 so that low PPR floor looks like his upside. Franklin has the more volatile profile but carries a theoretical ceiling and notably played at Oregon with Nix. Denver faces New Orleans on Thursday before a cushy Week 8 matchup with Carolina.
FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups - Tight Ends
Taysom Hill (TE, NO) - 33 % rostered
FAAB Bid: 3-6%
Aggressive Bid: 6-8%
Desperation Bid: 8-10%
Hill has missed Weeks 5 and 6 with a rib injury but fantasy managers should monitor the wire given his upside. We saw him rush six times for 24 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Week 4 before sustaining his current rib issue. The boom-bust nature of the TE landscape in ‘24 makes Hill’s goal-line packages more appealing, and he did sneak in a limited practice on Monday.

Hunter Henry (TE, NE) - 26% rostered
FAAB Bid: 2-4%

The good news is that Henry caught three passes for 41 yards and a touchdown on Sunday in Drake Maye’s first NFL start. The rookie infused life into the passing game and a rising tide lifts all pass-catching ships.
The bad news is Henry still only saw three total targets despite New England trailing all game, totaling 15 air yards with two first-read looks, per FPDS. One imagines the Pats will streamline and simplify things for Maye, keeping routes relatively short as the line cannot buy ample time. Just keep this in mind as he develops. But Henry is a solid dart throw against Jacksonville’s toothless D in Week 7 before their schedule turns.
Grant Calcaterra (TE, PHI) - 0% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 3-5%
Dallas Goedert left the game early in the first quarter due to a hamstring injury and would not return, which pushed Calcaterra into action. Per FPDS, he would run 22 routes, right up there with A.J. Brown (23) and DeVonta Smith (24) as a true starter, catching all four targets for 67 yards.
The Eagles face the Giants next, which could make Calcaterra a decent deep-league play. Just monitor reports for Albert Okwuegbunam Jr. (core) potentially coming off of the injured reserve, as a committee TE approach would ruin the appeal.
FAAB Waiver Wire Pickups - Defense/Special Teams
New Orleans Saints Defense (vs. DEN) - 34% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 3-4%
The Saints just got taken to the woodshed by division-rival Tampa Bay for over 500 yards and 45 points, with a return TD from Rashid Shaheed and three interceptions of Baker Mayfield still producing a decent fantasy day. But they now face Bo Nix and the Broncos on a short week, who are averaging just 17 points scored with nine turnovers in six games.
Washington Commanders Defense (vs. CAR) - 4% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 3-4%
The Commanders holding the Ravens to 30 points should count extra, eh? It was an admirable effort, and they still got home for a pair of sacks on Lamar Jackson, which gives them four straight with multiple sacks. Before this, they held Arizona and Cleveland to 13 and 14 respective points with a combined 11 sacks.
Now, they draw Carolina at home, which should align more with the ARI and CLE results rather than BAL. Jayden Daniels and the offense should bury the Panthers early and put them into risk-taking mode, forcing longer drop backs and dangerous throws.
Indianapolis Colts Defense (vs. MIA) - 26% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 3-4%
Tua Tagovailoa is not eligible to return until Week 8 and even then, coach Mike McDaniel is only saying he expects Tagovailoa back in 2024. The Dolphins have not scored more than 15 points in a game since Week 1 and have allowed multiple sacks in all five games, yielding 12 or more DST points by Yahoo default scoring in four straight.
They’ve had the bye week to collect themselves and create a gameplan for Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson, but there’s no denying the horrid form seen thus far from the Tua-less Dolphins. They’re a streaming target until proven otherwise.
Cincinnati Bengals Defense (at CLE) - 1% rostered
FAAB Bid: 1-2%
Aggressive Bid: 2-3%
Desperation Bid: 3-4%
The Bengals' defense had been a laughingstock so far this year but proved they could put up a fight on Sunday Night Football against the Giants. And no one has been a bigger laughingstock thus far than Deshaun Watson, who is appearing at the bottom of several leaderboards that no one wants a piece of.

The Rams haven’t held anyone to fewer than 24 points in a game yet but did record five sacks with a TD over their last two games. Their Week 7 opponent, the Raiders, made the switch to Aidan O’Connell just in time for him to face Pittsburgh’s defense (rude), resulting in 13 points and three turnovers.
The Rams' defense is still a husk of its Aaron Donald-led years, but the Raiders are considered “broken” until further notice. The outlook here is dampened but still viable if Davante Adams is back from his hamstring injury/trade request.
