2015 NFL Draft: Final Round 1 Mock Draft and Analysis

source: flickr

Rotoballer finishes it's pre-draft coverage with the final mock first round draft of the 2015 season. We take our guess at when and where Mariota lands.

Rotoballer’s covering all the action leading up to the 2015 NFL draft, including playing the ultimate guessing game of mock drafts. Our resident draft expert Owen Elle has all potential draft possibilities covered. You can find his previous mock draft here.

2015 NFL Mock Draft Round 1

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - QB Jameis Winston, Florida State

The Buccaneers taking Winston first overall is nearly a lock. Despite character concerns, Tampa Bay gets their quarterback of the future.

Editor's Note: RotoBaller’s Dynasty content delivers year-round dynasty fantasy football rankings, trade advice, rookie analysis, and player outlooks. Build a title-winning roster with sleepers, stash targets, and our full dynasty fantasy football guide.

2. Tennessee Titans - DT Leonard Williams, Southern California

The Titans stick with Zach Mettenberger and select the consensus best prospect in the entire draft.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars - EDGE Dante Fowler, Florida

This draft is full of edge rushers and Jacksonville will be in position to have their pick of the litter.

Editor’s Note: If you’re looking for a new, awesome, highly customizable and free option for year-round commissioner & dynasty leagues, something more capable than Yahoo, better looking than CBS, and built from the ground up with fantasy football in mind, play free fantasy football with our friends at Fleaflicker.

4. TRADE: Philadelphia Eagles (From OAK) - QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon

It’s difficult to envision the Raiders taking a wide receiver at four, so trading down with the Eagles and acquiring a plethora of picks for a rebuilding team in the process is a plus for Oakland. As for Philly, Chip Kelly gets the quarterback that's been described as the prototype for his system.

5. Washington Redskins - EDGE Vic Beasley, Clemson

The Redskins get a polished, NFL-ready pass rusher from day one.

6. New York Jets - EDGE Randy Gregory, Nebraska

Despite off-field concerns, the Jets take Gregory and look at sliding him to outside linebacker, strengthening an already elite front seven.

7. Chicago Bears - WR Kevin White, West Virginia

With the Raiders not taking White at four, he slides to Chicago where he immediately becomes the number two receiver behind Alshon Jeffery, replacing the void left by Brandon Marshall's departure.

8. Atlanta Falcons - EDGE Bud Dupree, Kentucky

Described as very raw, Dupree should help a horrendous Falcons defense in pass rushing and give Dan Quinn a real weapon on the front seven.

9. New York Giants - OT Brandon Scherff, Iowa

If the Giants are to try and get another Championship before the end of Eli Manning’s career, an upgrade to the offensive line will give them the best chance.

10. St. Louis Rams - WR Amari Cooper, Alabama

First the Rams traded for Nick Foles, now they need to get him a weapon and Cooper can be just that.

11. Minnesota Vikings - CB Trae Waynes, Michigan State

While the likes of DeVante Parker would make sense for the Vikings, Minnesota has the chance to take the best cornerback on the board and does so.

12. Cleveland Browns - DT Danny Shelton, Washington

In a division that has Le’Veon Bell, Justin Forsett, Giovanni Bernard and Jeremy Hill, the Browns need an upgrade on the defensive line.

13. New Orleans Saints - OT Andrus Peat, Stanford

Trading Ben Grubbs to Kansas City makes Peat a logical choice for the Saints.

14. Miami Dolphins - CB Marcus Peters, Washington

Massive risk-reward with Peters, however the upside is too great for the ex-Huskie to slide past the Dolphins.

15. San Francisco 49ers - DL Arik Armstead, Oregon

Being that new Niners HC Jim Tomsula is a defensive guy, bringing in a 6’7 ft giant to replace Justin Smith would make a lot of sense.

16. Houston Texans - WR DeVante Parker, Louisville

The Texans have too high of a first round pick to realistically select UCLA’s Brett Hundley, so getting a replacement for the recently departed Andre Johnson is the best Houston can do at 16.

17. San Diego Chargers - RB Todd Gurley, Georgia

The Chargers take Gurley in the first round making it the first time since 2012 that a running back is amongst the first 32 picks. Had Gurley not torn his ACL and been suspended for a portion of last season, he would have made it into the top 10.

18. Kansas City Chiefs - WR Dorial Green-Beckham, Missouri/Oklahoma

It’s my opinion that Dorial Green-Beckham is a top three talent in this draft and by far the best wide receiver, however when your track record includes “allegedly” pushing a pregnant women down stairs, you tend to see a significant slide down draft boards. The Chiefs get a huge steal if they can keep Beckham out of trouble.

19. Cleveland Browns - WR Breshad Perriman, Central Florida

Perriman shouldn’t be taken this high, but the Browns seem to like the tall, speedy Central Florida product. Perriman helps ease the pain of Josh Gordon's one year suspension.

20. TRADE: Oakland Raiders (From PHI) - CB Byron Jones, Connecticut

If there’s one thing Oakland loves it’s a fast, athletic corner.

21. Cincinnati Bengals - EDGE Shane Ray, Missouri

Don’t buy into the massive overreaction that because Ray was caught with marijuana that he won’t even be taken in the first four rounds, he’s a premium talent in a league full of athletes who have been caught with similar offenses. He won't be falling far.

22. Pittsburgh Steelers - DB Eric Rowe, Utah

With the departure of Polamalu and Taylor, Rowe fits perfectly for the Steelers. Also recent buzz suggests that a few teams have looked at Rowe as a safety, giving him more value to Pittsburgh, who could use either.

23. Detroit Lions - DT Malcom Brown, Texas

No more Nick Fairley, no more Ndamukong Suh, the Lions need a defensive tackle.

24. Arizona Cardinals - OT La’el Collins, Louisiana State

Melvin Gordon makes plenty of sense for the Cardinals, however an offensive tackle helps both the passing and rushing game.

25. Carolina Panthers - OT D.J. Humphries, Florida

The Panthers offensive line is in flux and desperately needs help. Humphries helps them keep Cam Newton from getting banged up two years in a row.

26. Baltimore Ravens - RB Melvin Gordon, Wisconsin

Gordon is a good selection for Baltimore, however there's reason to be wary of taking Wisconsin running backs, who are notorious for being products of their system (Ron Dayne, Montee Ball).

27. Dallas Cowboys - TE Maxx Williams, Minnesota

Williams is an undeveloped, high-upside player that doesn’t do many things well, however he has elite pass catching potential as a tight end making him very valuable to Dallas as Jason Witten's potential replacement.

28. Denver Broncos - C Cameron Erving, Florida State

An offensive lineman is not a very flashy pick, but a very important one nonetheless. Erving has potential to play guard as well as center and could ease the pain of losing Orlando Franklin.

29. Indianapolis Colts - OT T.J. Clemmings, Pittsburgh

While the Colts defense does need work, their offensive line needs to be strengthened in order to keep Andrew Luck upright. Clemmings helps secure the end of the line opposite LT Anthony Castonzo.

30. Green Bay Packers - ILB Bernadrick McKinney, Mississippi State

McKinney might not be worth a first-round pick but the departure of A.J. Hawk and Brad Jones is going to help make this decision very easy for the Packers.

31. New Orleans Saints - QB Brett Hundley, UCLA

Drew Brees isn’t going to play forever. The Saints need to follow in the footsteps of the Patriots and draft an eventual replacement.

32. New England Patriots - SS Landon Collins, Alabama

Collins would be a huge upgrade over incumbent SS Patrick Chung, and pair very well with the ball-hawking Devin McCourty.
