Week 6 fantasy football waiver wire pickups for Jake Tonges, Taysom Hill, Evan Engram. Read their waiver wire outlooks for fantasy football.
The tight end position is one of the few where it's not so hard to get an edge for your fantasy team from waiver wire pickups. TEs tend to have seasons of relatively high production interspersed with returns to major mediocrity, as we've seen countless times.
This season, injuries have been a major driving factor for the usage of tight ends through the first five weeks. San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle (hamstring) has been sidelined with injury, and New Orleans Saints tight end Taysom Hill (knee) just recently made his season debut last week against the Giants.
So, does it make sense to take Hill, 49ers backup tight end Jake Tonges, and Denver Broncos TE Evan Engram as waiver wire pickups for Week 6? Let's dive in!

Jake Tonges Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 8% of Leagues
Baller Move: Pickup in 12+ Team Leagues
Tonges logged his second straight week with a receiving touchdown in relief of Kittle. He finished the contest with seven catches for 41 yards and a score on 11 targets from backup QB Mac Jones. Tonges has impressed so far this season.
The starting QB, Brock Purdy (toe), missed another contest last week. It's unclear when he'll return, or how Tonges' usage would change with Jones on the sidelines. But the fourth-year TE did catch a touchdown pass in Week 1 with Purdy playing the whole game.
Brock Purdy's game-winning TD to Jake Tonges had a completion probability of 14.7%, the most improbable completion of the week entering SNF.

Tonges is worth a pickup in leagues with 12 or fewer teams. After a season-high in targets last week, he could have another nice game. Keep an eye on the statuses of wide receivers Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (ankle/ribs), though. Tonges' volume was likely driven by their absences. Jennings practiced on Monday, while Pearsall did not.
Taysom Hill Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 20% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
Hill continues to be used differently than any other tight end in the NFL. He tore his ACL in Week 13 of 2024, yet returned to play last week. He wasn't productive, though. He carried the ball six times for a loss of one yard and completed one pass for 19 yards.
Hill's usage gives him a unique upside, and him being listed as a tight end yet playing essentially quarterback, running back, tight end, and wide receiver at times gives him major value. But less than 10 months removed from an ACL tear, it's hard to envision him being fantasy relevant soon.

He's interesting in deeper leagues right now, but a better receiving role would be needed to trust him in other leagues. Or maybe goal-line carries.
Evan Engram Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
Rostered: 46% of Leagues
Baller Move: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
After a miserable start to the 2025 season and one missed contest due to an injury, Engram scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 5. He finished his team's win over the Philadelphia Eagles with four catches on six targets for 33 yards and a touchdown.
While his final PPR fantasy score was nice, his role still remains frustrating. He has yet to play a game with more than a 50 percent snap share on offense. His season-high came in Week 2 and Week 4, when he played 43 percent of the snaps in those games.

Engram had under seven PPR fantasy points in each of his other three healthy contests. His role appears to be pretty well-fixed. He sees a similar snap share to fellow Broncos TE Adam Trautman, and though he has a bigger receiving role, he simply isn't one of the offense's primary options.
Wide receivers Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and Troy Franklin are the three biggest priorities for quarterback Bo Nix to get the ball to so far. Engram comes in fourth, and that doesn't make him a weekly startable option outside of deep leagues or those with tight end premium scoring.
