PGA DFS: DraftKings Fantasy Golf Sleeper Picks and Advice for the The Barclays

Davis Love III, 51, with a $5,300 DraftKings salary won the Wyndham Championship by one stroke over Jason Gore. The top 125 players on the FedEx Cup points race will head to Edison, NJ this week to partake in The Barclays. Plainfield Country Club will be the host of this event. The course was designed by Donald Ross (like last week) and plays as a par 70, 7,030 yards.

The course consists of 10 par 4’s, four par 3’s, and four par 5’s, while the greens are Poa Annua grass. Hunter Mahan won last year, but don’t count on him repeating. The last time someone won back to back, Ernie Els in 1996 and 1997.

Editor's Note: Our Partner DraftKings is hosting another huge Fantasy Gold tournament on August 27th. The $425K Drive to the Green is free to enter, and it dishes out $100K to the first place finisher!  If you sign up and make a deposit now, you’ll get a 100% bonus on your first DraftKings deposit and we’ll also give you free access to RotoBaller’s Premium 2015 Fantasy Football NFL Draft Kit (a $49.99 value).

The top 100 golfers in the FedEx Cup points race will play next week in the Deutsche Bank championship. Some notable players on the outside looking in are Jason Dufner, 103, Lee Westwood, 110, and Luke Donald, 119.

PGA DFS Advice - Stats To Look At

- Total Driving
- Proximity to Hole
- Par 4 Average
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green
- Greens in Regultion
- Birdie or Better Percentage

PGA DFS High-Priced DraftKings Picks ($9,300-$12,600)

Jordan Spieth (12,600)

- Total Driving: 43
- Proximity to Hole: 25
- Par 4 Scoring Average: 1
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 2
- Greens in Regulation: 47
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 2
- 2014 Barclays Result: T22 -5
- FedEx Cup Standing: 1

I do not even need to write about why to pick Spieth. If you can fit Spieth into your lineup, you definitely should. He will be atop the leaderboard or charging on Sunday.

Justin Rose ($10,900)

- Total Driving: 4
- Proximity to Hole: 15
- Par 4 Average: 54
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 5
- Greens in Regulation: 8
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 3
- 2014 Barclays Result: T30, -4
- FedEx Cup Standing: 5

Rose has been playing great golf this year, especially as of late. He has not finished worse than 6th in his last four tournaments and has not missed a cut since the Players Championship. Rose is my pick to win The Barclays.

Quick Hitters

Dustin Johnson won here in 2011 when the tournament was shortened to 54 holes due to Hurricane Irene, but I am always so scared to pick Johnson knowing he can fall apart at any moment. Jason Day finished tied for second last year and is a perfect alternative if you can’t spend on Spieth. Brooks Koepka is playing great golf lately, but will be highly owned.

PGA DFS Mid-Priced DraftKings Picks ($7,000-$9,200)

Jim Furyk ($8,800)

- Total Driving: 85
- Proximity to Hole: 2
- Par 4 Average: 11
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 4
- Greens in Regulation: 28
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 100
- 2014 Barclays Result: 8
- FedEx Cup Standing: 18

In Furyk’s last outing he finished tied for 30th, 4 under at the PGA. The Barclays boast large greens and although Furyk cant drive it too far, he can put the ball next to the pin.

Robert Streb ($7,900)

- Total Driving: 49
- Proximity to Hole: 159
- Par 4 Average: 11
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 27
- Greens in Regulation: 11
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 26
- 2014 Barclays Result: Cut
- FedEx Cup Standing: 6

Streb has not finished outside the top 20 since he finished tied for 42nd at the U.S. Open. He finished 5th at the Bridgestone and tied for 10th at the PGA. He will definitely make the cut and be in contention on Sunday.

Tony Finau ($7,300)

- Total Driving: 96
- Proximity to Hole: 159
- Par 4 Average: 21
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 29
- Greens in Regulation: 48
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 12
- 2014 Barclays Result: DNP
- FedEx Cup Standing: 39

Finau was right atop the leaderboard at the PGA until he bogeyed his final two holes of the third round, which carried over and to his not so great final round. Finau showed he could play with the big guns at his second major appearance, he will do it again this weekend in Jersey.

Will Wilcox ($7,200)

- Total Driving: 2
- Proximity to Hole: 22
- Par 4 Average: 2
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 19
- Greens in Regulation: 4
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 21
- 2014 Barclays Result: DNP
- FedEx Cup Standing: 75

Willcox’s stats seem too perfect for this kind of tournament. Although he hasn’t played in any majors or big tournaments this season, I believe he will play extremely well. He will be in almost all of my lineups this week.

PGA DFS Low-Priced DraftKings Picks ($5,500- $6,900)

Morgan Hoffman ($6,400)

- Total Driving: 146
- Proximity to Hole: 189
- Par 4 Average: 121
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 128
- Greens in Regulation: 192
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 75
- 2014 Barclays Result: T9, 9 under
- FedEx Cup Standing: 82

His stats are horrendous, but the only reason I will pick him is because he is a New Jersey native. Last week at the Wyndham Championship, Hoffman tied for 26th shooting 10 under for the tournament. He played very well last year at The Barclays and will need to play well to stay alive in the FedEx Cup.

Jim Herman ($6,300)

- Total Driving: 9
- Proximity to Hole: 13
- Par 4 Average: 82
- Strokes Gained Tee to Green: 66
- Greens in Regulation: 2
- Birdie or Better Percentage: 106
- 2014 Barclays Result: DNP
- FedEx Cup Standing: 89

I picked Herman last week and he showed up finished tied for 18th, finishing 111 under for the tournament. His stats are great, his price is cheap, what’s not to like?
