Trending Upward

Xavier Worthy, WR, Kansas City Chiefs (+21)

Previous rank: 79

Current rank: 58

Has there ever been a quieter eight-catch, 157-receiving yard, two-touchdown performance in Super Bowl history? The Kansas City playmaker was the lone bright spot for the Chiefs in that Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Worthy would end up leading all receiving in the postseason in receiving yards (287), 201 of which came after the catch, and touchdown receptions (three). Worthy also led all Chiefs pass catchers with 21 targets, averaging 15.1 yards per reception.

It will be interesting to see what the Chiefs do this offseason regarding the wide receiver position. Rashee Rice's availability after missing much of the season with a knee injury is still uncertain, and he could still be facing potential discipline from the league regarding an incident during the previous offseason. Then there is the Travis Kelce situation and whether he rides into the sunset or plays another season.

Regardless of what we don't know, we know this. If you remove Week 18, as it was a meaningless game for the Chiefs, and look at Worthy's usage over the final six games, it's hard not to get excited. In those six contests, the rookie was targeted on 52 occasions, converting those targets into 477 receiving yards and five touchdowns while earning a target share greater than 25%.

Zach Charbonnet, RB, Seattle Seahawks (+22)

Previous rank: 125

Current rank: 103

Most of Zach Charbonnet's immediate value is tied directly to Kenneth Walker III's availability. In 2024, Charbonnet was more efficient with his opportunities, averaging half a yard more per carry than Walker. He was also more productive as a pass-catcher, finishing with 41 more receiving yards despite four fewer receptions.

Walker has yet to play a full slate of games through three seasons and is also set to become a free agent at the end of the 2025 campaign. The Seahawks could move on from Walker after the conclusion of next season and go with Charbonnet, who is under contract until 2027.

When given the opportunity, Charbonnet averaged nearly 100 total yards and 18 fantasy points per game in which he started. In those starts, the former UCLA Bruin also has seven touchdowns. With Klint Kubiak now the offensive coordinator in Seattle, expect high-end fantasy production from Charbonnet moving forward.

Michael Penix Jr., QB, Atlanta Falcons (+26)

Previous rank: 177

Current rank: 151

Michael Penix Jr. made his 2024 debut back in October, but he didn't take over under center until December 22 when the Falcons faced off against the New York Giants. Penix would throw for 202 yards in that debut while completing 66.7 percent of his passes. Over the Falcons' next two contests, Penix showed improvement and gave Falcons fans some hope after throwing for 312 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Falcons' finale against the Carolina Panthers.

Since the season ended, Atlanta has seemingly decided to cut ties with Kirk Cousins despite signing the veteran quarterback to a four-year $180 million deal. If Atlanta cuts Cousins before March 17, it will save $10 million. Make no mistake: we are officially in the Penix era, and the rookie has some weapons.

With Drake London and Bijan Robinson at his disposal, Penix has two of the top 25 offensive players in the league making plays for him. Penix has the arm talent to make all the throws that Cousins simply could not make last season. He is also mobile enough to avoid sacks, as was evident in his professional debut when he avoided being sacked despite being pressured 14 times.

Other Notable Risers: Jalen McMillan (+28), Tyjae Spears (+16), Marvin Mims Jr. (+15), Bucky Irving (+12), Jordan Addison (+12), Jauan Jennings (+14)

Trending Downward

Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins (-20)

Previous rank: 37

Current rank: 57

First, does Tyreek Hill want to stay in Miami or take his talents elsewhere? At one point, it looked like he was as good as gone, but recent reports suggest the 30-year-old receiver is now content in Miami and that the Dolphins have no plans to trade the Pro Bowl pass catcher.

From a dynasty standpoint, fantasy managers should consider parting ways sooner rather than later. It's hard to get anything of value right now, but despite an off-year, Hill still managed to haul in 81 of 123 targets for 959 yards. At the same time, Tua Tagovailoa gave way to Tyler Huntley, Skylar Thompson, and Tim Boyle at various points throughout the season, all while dealing with his own hand injury.

With wide receivers, we start to see a regression when looking at their fantasy baseline through Years 6 through 9, and Hill is entering his 10th season. Year 10 is typically where we see former top 12 fantasy producers drop off.  If you do manage to find a trade partner, you may need to point out that Hill's 2.98 yards per route run over the last two seasons trails only Puke Nacua and Nico Collins.

Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (-41)

Previous rank: 46

Current rank: 87

Jordan Love's play in 2024 was disappointing, to say the least. Hopes were high for Love coming off that 2023 season, where he threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns. Love's interception rate went from 0.019 in 2023 to 0.026 in 2024 as he threw the same amount of interceptions on 154 fewer passing attempts.

In the offseason, Josh Jacobs pointed out that the Packers and Jordan Love need a true No. 1 receiver. Sure, that may grate some cheese in the locker room, but no lies were detected here. Jayden Reed was the top receiving option, finishing with 857 yards. However, 390 of those yards occurred in the three contests in which Reed topped 100 yards receiving.

Green Bay deployed a wide receiver by committee approach in 2024. Christian Watson was in and out of the lineup, and Romeo Doubs and Reed were anything but consistent. Dontayvion Wicks doesn't instill fear into defensive coordinators, either.

Some receivers make their quarterbacks better, but none of those pass catchers mentioned were good enough to prevent Love from becoming one of the least accurate quarterbacks a season ago, as his accurate throw rate was just 45.2 percent.

Aaron Jones, RB, Minnesota Vikings (-20)

Previous rank: 106

Current rank: 126

For some, age is more than a number. For the running back position age is much more. Not every back can be a Derrick Henry or Curtis Martin. When compared to a running back's career baseline, we see a drop in fantasy production from 97.2 percent in Year 7 to 61.7 percent in Year 9. Aaron Jones is coming off a career year in carries (255) and rushing yards (1,138), but he's also entering his ninth season.

Right now, you can get a mid-second for Aaron Jones, and considering that this rookie running back class is deep, there is value to be had. You could also target a pass catcher like Jauan Jennings (more on him later) or Rashid Shaheed, who people have forgotten about.

Other Notable Fallers: George Pickens (-16), Dalton Kincaid (-18), Cooper Kupp (-19), Isiah Pacheco (-19), Rachaad White (-31) Kirk Cousins (-54)

Names to Know

Joe Milton III, QB, New England Patriots (+118)

Previous rank: 395

Current rank: 277

With a rookie quarterback class that is far from talented or deep, several young quarterbacks could be on some teams' radars as we enter the 2025 season. One such quarterback who has been getting some buzz lately is New England Patriots signal-caller Joe Milton III.

Coming out of college, Milton was projected to be a project at the NFL level. In his final season at Tennessee, Milton threw for 2,813 yards, ran for another 300 yards, and had 27 total touchdowns, putting his legs and big arm on display for scouts. He was also the Orange Bowl MVP in 2022, throwing three touchdowns in a victory over Clemson.

At 24 years of age, Milton is still young enough for an offensive coordinator to mold, and after watching him throw for 241 yards while completing 75 percent of his passes in his first career start, the potential is evident. Of course, he'd have to escape Drake Maye's shadow and be given an opportunity elsewhere, and considering this year's crop of quarterbacks in the draft, that is a strong possibility.

Maximize Return

Jauan Jennings, WR, San Fransisco 49ers (+14)

Previous rank: 115

Current rank: 101

With the news that Deebo Samuel Sr. has been once again allowed to seek a trade, Jauan Jennings' fantasy managers have an opportunity to capitalize on the market. We know the numbers: in games with Brock Purdy, in which the 49ers have also been without Brandon Aiyuk and Samuel, Jennings has averaged over 100 receiving yards, 7.5 receptions, and a touchdown per game. It's easy to see why his stock is up.

However, even if Samuel is employed elsewhere, Jennings must compete for his targets. Aiyuk is set to return, and the last time he was healthy, all he did was catch 75 balls for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. Then there is the potential return of Christian McCaffrey. Early indications are that McCaffrey is healthy entering the offseason and was still on pace to receive an 80-plus target a season ago. Then we have George Kittle, who will get his, and a second-year receiver in Ricky Pearsall, who will have a whole camp with Purdy and this offense, unlike last year.

I am holding Jennings as his value is likely to increase, especially if the 49ers can find a suiter for Samuel. When that happens, it'll be time to sell.

Buy the Dip

Tank Dell, WR, Houston Texans (-46)

Previous rank: 64

Current rank: 110

You won't be able to get a return on your investment as it pertains to Tank Dell anytime soon. Dell is an asset that you buy low now and hope to turn a profit on down the road. Dell suffered a serious leg/knee injury that likely puts his 2025 season in jeopardy. So, another manager may be looking to cut ties and get what they can while they still can.

Depending on the acquisition cost, it's likely worth taking a chance on Dell. During his two seasons in the league, no receiver has a higher catch rate than Dell's 92 percent when looking at yards per catchable target against man coverage. More impressively, he's doing this with an average depth of target of over 13 yards. In 2024, only Dell and Ladd McConkey caught 100% of their "on target" passes that traveled 10 or more yards. I don't think I am out of line when I say Dell has "the power to do more."
