DraftKings and FanDuel Daily Fantasy Basketball Picks (3/1/22): NBA DFS Lineups

luka doncic NBA dfs lineup picks daily fantasy basketball advice

The top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on March 1, 2022. Euan Leith provides NBA DFS analysis and sleeper picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday and happy March, Rotoballers! The Association gives us a medium-sized six-game slate tonight, and it's looking like a split schedule with three enticing matchups for DFS and three... not-so-enticing games. Regardless, I will sift through the player pool, find the players I want to have in my NBA lineups, and then recommend them to you.

While it doesn't carry a lot of importance for the league standings, the Rockets-Clippers matchup is setting up to be a fantasy gold mine. Both teams average more than 100 possessions per game over their last 15, and this contest has the highest projected pace on my sheet. Couple that with Houston's porous defense (120.8 defensive rating over their last 15), and you'll want to have a few pieces from the Los Angeles side of the court.

This article will provide you with my daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 3/1/22. Remember to monitor the NBA injury report as the slate can completely change before lineups lock. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings and FanDuel Guards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Luka Doncic - PG, DAL at LAL ($12,000 DraftKings; $10,800 FanDuel)

We don't have to get overly complicated with our premium picks at the guard position tonight. While there are some options to pivot towards (Stephen Curry, Trae Young), I believe Doncic provides the consistency and ceiling worthy of his massive price tag. In February, the just-turned 23-year old averaged 34.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and four three-pointers a night. The Mavericks rode this to a 7-3 record and vaulted themselves into the top-six in the West. For DFS purposes, Luka gave managers 65.7 DK FPPG (DraftKings Fantasy Points Per Game) over that stretch and is a perfect pick to build around on Tuesday's six-game schedule. Over their last 15 games, the Lakers give up the seventh-most DK FPPG to point guards but haven't faced any point guard playing at as high of a level as Doncic is at the moment.

Seth Curry - SG/SF, BKN at TOR ($6,400 DK; $6,200 FD)

No Kyrie Irving, no Kevin Durant, and no Ben Simmons will mean the Brooklyn offense needs to run through someone else. And while Seth Curry has never carried a team for an extended period, he is certainly worth a punt in a one-off situation versus Toronto. Since joining the Nets in that deadline deal with Ben Simmons, Curry averages 19.2 points, four rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 3.6 three-pointers in five games. The 31-year old guard is also hitting 50.7 percent of his field-goal attempts and converting 47.4 percent of his three-point shots. Over their last 15 games, the Raptors give up the second-most three-pointers to shooting guards in the league. So the added potential for more points from behind the line elevates Curry's ceiling enough to be in consideration for your starting lineup.

Malachi Flynn - PG, TOR vs. BKN ($3,100 DK; $3,600 FD)

The darling of DFS streaming is back in action, and Malachi Flynn becomes a must-have asset if Fred VanVleet (knee) is forced to miss Tuesday's contest. Flynn's teammate sat out Monday's game in Brooklyn and will be questionable for the home leg in Toronto. Make sure to monitor Head Coach Nick Nurse's comments to see FVV's availability. On Monday night, Flynn stepped up in his teammate's absence and proceeded to drop 18 points, five assists, four rebounds, two steals, and three triples in a 133-97 blowout win over the Nets. The 33 minutes Flynn logged were the most encouraging aspect of the evening, and I would expect a similar workload (and points return) if FVV misses another game.

Also consider: Reggie Jackson at HOU ($8,200 DK; $7,000 FD)

DraftKings and FanDuel Forwards - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Kyle Kuzma - PF, WAS vs. DET ($9,200 DK $8,700 FD)

Man, the Los Angeles Lakers could use a power forward like Kyle Kuzma right about now. While hindsight is 20/20, there are a lot of Kuzma truthers taking many a victory lap this year, especially recently. The 26-year old is in the midst of a career year as he steps out of LeBron James and Anthony Davis' shadows. In 57 games, the 2017 first-round pick averages 17 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and two triples and is setting new career-highs in steals and blocks. Recently, in the two games since the All-Star Break, Kuzma is producing 63.1 DK FPPG, and he's totaled at least 58 fantasy points in three of his last four. Of course, the price tag is lofty, but Kuzma is an excellent differential pick if you want to stray away from the popular premium options like Doncic, Curry, or Tatum.

Jaylen Brown - SG/SF, BOS vs. ATL ($8,700 DK; $8,000 FD)

While the hierarchy in Boston's rotation seems to have settled (with Brown a 1b to Tatum's 1a), I'm electing to grab the $1,100 in savings between the pair and spend it at other positions. Plus, Brown has been impressing me with his aggression recently and is playing with a hot hand in the shooting department. Over the last five games, Brown's making 53.3 percent of his shots, 41.4 percent of his threes, and is getting to the charity stripe 5.8 times a night. Couple those efficiency stats with 25.6 points, 4.6 assists, and 2.4 threes, and this is a player I am highly coveting for my lineups. Over their previous 15 games, Atlanta allows the fifth-most DK FPPG to small forwards. So in a matchup with a 224.5-point over/under, I expect plenty of fantasy points from both Celtics playmakers, and I believe Brown can be a better bang-for-your-buck option.

Terance Mann - SG/SF, LAC at HOU ($6,200 DK; $6,100 FD)

In a strange scheduling quirk, the Clippers will play the Rockets for the third time in four games on Tuesday. This is good news for Mann as he has been excellent in the previous two contests. Unfortunately, he was limited by a 31-point blowout in the first game and foul trouble in the second contest (but that was a one-point finish). If Houston can keep it competitive and Mann stay out of foul trouble, I expect the 25-year old to smash his Tuesday-night salary. He's taken at least 13 shots in four of his last six games, and in those games, he averages 40.5 DK FPPG. Houston is the ninth-worst defense versus shooting guards right now, and with so many injured Clippers, Mann will have the opportunity to step up and have a magnificent performance in Texas.

Also consider: Jayson Tatum vs. ATL ($9,800 DK; $8,900 FD), Jerami Grant at WAS ($6,300 DK; $5,900 FD)

DraftKings and FanDuel Centers - NBA DFS Lineup Picks

Ivica Zubac - C, LAC at HOU ($6,100 DK; $5,800 FD)

As I mentioned in the Terance Mann preview, the Clippers are playing the Rockets for the third time in four games. Like Mann, this is good news for Zubac's prospects as a DFS option on Tuesday. In the two recent fixtures versus Houston, the man from Bosnia and Herzegovina is producing 13.5 points on 73.3 percent shooting, 12.5 rebounds, three blocks, and one steal. Those numbers come out to 40 DK FPPG, and he is punishing the second-worst defense against centers right now. At $6,100, he's tied for the ninth most expensive center on the slate, but I won't be surprised when he finishes as a top-5 option when the games are all finished.

Kelly Olynyk - PF/C, DET at WAS ($4,900 DK; $5,000 FD)

Detroit is dealing with plenty of injuries at the moment, and it looks like Kelly Olynyk will get an extended chance to shine in the nation's capital against the Wizards. On Sunday, the journeyman forward played more than 24 minutes for the first time since Nov. 10, and he came through for the DFS managers who believed in him. In those 24 minutes, Olynyk collected 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, four triples, three assists, and two steals. As long as Detroit's injury report stays as filled as it is as of this writing, the Canadien remains a fantastic budget center for the six-game slate.

Also consider: Karl-Anthony Towns vs. GSW ($10,100 DK; $9,300 FD), Andre Drummond at TOR ($6,900 DK; $6,700 FD)
