Deeper League Waiver Wire Pickups - Week 10

Rishi Patel identifies players at QB, RB, WR, and TE to target or add from the waiver wire in deep fantasy football leagues for Week 10 of the 2020 NFL season.

With the season now entering the stretch run, it’s important to grab and stash players who you could see serving as valuable depth. I mean, where did Richie James come from this week?! It’s surprising guys like this who could be that ingredient to put you over the top in your upcoming matchups.

Depth plays a key role at this point with the revolving door of injuries to well-known players and it’s important to have the right substitutes.

Let’s look at some players you should consider picking up for Week 10 and as always, each one is rostered at or below 15% in Yahoo leagues.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Free Agent Quarterbacks

Nick Mullens, San Francisco 49ers - 6% rostered

With Jimmy G out for possibly the season, Nick Mullens serves as a great pickup in deep leagues. Mullens can be streaky, but he put up 291 yards for a touchdown and pick against the Packers in Week 9 and 238 yards with two touchdowns against the Seahawks in Week 8. He’s a great streamer in favorable matchups.

Jake Luton, Jacksonville Jaguars - 3% rostered

Jake Luton may not be known at all, but he put up 304 yards with a touchdown and pick in Week 9 after subbing in for Gardner Minshew II. Granted this performance was against the sorry Texans Defense, Luton may not be a fantasy stud going forward, but he’s worth stashing and monitoring for now, especially if he gets the starter role in the near future.

Free Agent Running Backs

Duke Johnson, Houston Texans- 15% rostered

With David Johnson going down with a concussion in Week 9, Duke Johnson filled in and had 16 carries for 41 yards and a score along with four receptions for 32 yards on four targets. Duke could see a bigger role going forward if David must miss any time, so he’s worth stashing for now.

Free Agent Wide Receivers

Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Green Bay Packers - 15% rostered

The trade deadline came and went and the Packers stayed put despite literally everyone declaring they need another WR. Well, the lack of action bodes well for Scantling, who had two receptions for 53 yards and two scores in Week 9. He’s the WR2 on this team right now though he can be streaky. Though it may be hard to trust him on a weekly basis, Scantling is certainly worth stashing as he could become a starter down the stretch if he shows consistency.

Darnell Mooney, Chicago Bears - 14% rostered

Mooney saw a season-high 11 targets to go along with his five receptions for 43 yards in Week 9. The WR has become a favorite target of Nick Foles, and he now has at least five targets in the past seven games along with at least 40 yards in the past three games. Mooney is one of the best additions of the week as he is showing consistency and decent numbers.

Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals - 10% rostered

Veteran Larry Fitzgerald has quietly put up a solid past two weeks, getting 54 and 62 yards. Though he has only gotten 50 yards in three of eight games this season, the reliable WR has seen at least five targets in five games. Fitz is worth a stash.

Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts - 7% rostered

The Colts are lacking receiver depth and with T.Y. Hilton and Jack Doyle banged up, this opens a prime opportunity for the rookie to prove himself and carve a large role in this offense. In Week 9, Pittman had four receptions for 56 yards on seven targets. He should be considered the WR1 or WR2 on the team now due to the injuries and is one of the best pickups this week as he could see great production in the coming weeks.

Zach Pascal, Indianapolis Colts - 4% rostered

Zach Pascal is another WR who should see more targets on the Colts due to injuries. Pittman and Pascal are the top-two WRs on the offense right now, so there should be no shortage of targets. Pascal grabbed five receptions for 55 yards on six targets in Week 9 and has had at least 50 yards in three of the past five games. He’s another great addition.

David Moore, Seattle Seahawks - 3% rostered

Though D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett get all the attention, WR3 David Moore has quietly played a great stretch of football recently. The 25-year-old has a touchdown in the past two games and has grabbed at least 54 yards in three of the past five games. Though he’s likely not going to put up great numbers each week, he’s certainly worth stashing as he could have a good day anytime on this terrific offense.

Richie James Jr., San Francisco 49ers - 2% rostered

The 49ers’ WR corp is really, really banged up right now, leaving Trent Taylor and James as the top wideouts. James had the performance of a lifetime in Week 9, getting nine receptions for 184 yards and a score on 13 targets. Though he’s not likely to put up these types of numbers each week, it was certainly enough to catch the attention of many. Thus, James is worth picking up right now as the WRs are injured and he could put up decent production in the coming weeks.

Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions - 2% rostered

Because lead WR Kenny Golladay was dealing with a hip injury, Danny Amendola saw more looks in Week 9 and compiled seven receptions for 77 yards on 10 targets. The WR has now put up at least 54 yards in the past three games and has at least that many yards in five of eight games. He could see great production in the coming weeks if Golladay misses any more time. Thus, he’s a solid pickup.

KJ Hamler, Denver Broncos - 2% rostered

Hamler put up season-bests in Week 9 by getting six receptions for 75 yards on 10 targets. Even as the WR3 on this team, Hamler has great potential and is worth stashing and monitoring for now.

Free Agent Tight Ends

Ross Dwelley, San Francisco 49ers - 8% rostered

With George Kittle out now for a long period, Ross Dwelley stepped in and had three receptions for 52 yards on three targets in Week 9. With the WRs injured, Dwelley could see more looks in the coming weeks and is a solid pickup and possible streamer.

Irv Smith Jr., Minnesota Vikings - 7% rostered

Irv Smith had a memorable two-touchdown game in Week 9 and has now put up a decent four-game stretch in which he has gotten at least 55 yards in two of them. Smith has been streaky this season, but his latest performances have been encouraging. He’s worth a pickup and stash right now.
