Fantasy Baseball Draft Outlooks
Below are some fantasy baseball outlooks written by our MLB team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy baseball analysis and advice on which players to consider drafting in 2026:
Yordan Alvarez, OF/DH, Houston Astros
Yordan Alvarez's ability as a hitter is not in question. Unfortunately, health is capping his fantasy value. After four consecutive seasons of at least 30 home runs, Alvarez saw that streak end in 2025. A hand injury was the main issue for Alvarez. That, coupled with an ankle sprain in September, restricted him to just 48 games. Ultimately, Alvarez played the outfield just 15 times, so he is now only DH (designated hitter) eligible in most leagues.
With the Astros likely to restrict his time in the outfield this year, if you do draft Alvarez, don't expect him to regain outfield eligibility early in the season. What you are certain to get from Alvarez is power. He managed to reach the 30-homer mark in the previous four seasons, despite not playing 150 games in any of them. Even in limited action last year, Alvarez still had standout power metrics. His 52.9% hard-hit% and 94.7 MPH average exit velocity were both elite.
Although Alvarez didn't have enough plate appearances, among qualified hitters, he would have ranked in the 85th percentile or better for all quality of contact metrics. The only thing that will prevent Alvarez from providing fantasy value is another season with more time spent on the injured list than in the batter's box.
Bo Bichette, SS, New York Mets
Shortstop Bo Bichette was one of the top hitters on the open market this season and finally found a suitor in the New York Mets. The Mets inked the star infielder to a three-year, $126 million contract. However, entering 2025, Bichette's fantasy stock was at an all-time low following a disappointing 2024 season. In 2024, Bichette turned in a career-low .225/.277/.322 line with only four home runs and five stolen bases. However, the 27-year-old quickly got back on track in 2025, which netted him the massive contract.
With the Blue Jays, Bichette posted a much higher .311/.357/.483 line with 18 home runs and four stolen bases. Under the hood, Bichette generated a .353 xwOBA (83rd percentile) and a .295 xBA (95th percentile). Additionally, he posted a career-best 14.5% K%, a stark drop from the 19.1% and 19.0% he held in 2023 and 2024. Even though his move to Citi Field may slightly hinder his upside (as the stadium's overall Park Factor for right-handed hitters is lower than Rogers Centre in Toronto), he will join a top-heavy lineup that will keep his counting stats high.
Batting alongside Juan Soto, Francisco Lindor, and newly-acquired Luis Robert Jr. gives Bichette the upside to tally a 90+ run and 90+ RBI season. While he is going off as the No. 12 shortstop in NFBC drafts (102.3 ADP), he will pick up third base eligibility in the opening week as he is slated to cover the hot corner in New York. Even though his speed upside is low, he is a high-end four-category contributor with elite batting-average upside and could see a career-high in counting stats.
Alex Bregman, 3B, Chicago Cubs
Third baseman Alex Bregman was viewed as one of the top infielders on the open market this winter. After being linked to several teams, he opted to sign a five-year, $175 million contract with the Chicago Cubs. After spending the first nine seasons of his career with the Astros, Bregman moved to Boston in 2025 and held a .273/.360/.462 line with an .822 OPS. He hit 18 home runs and added 28 doubles across 114 contests.
He continues to maintain an elite 14.1% K % (88th percentile) and drew walks at a 10.3% rate (73rd percentile), providing him a boost in points leagues. However, moving to Wrigley Field, his upside could be limited due to the dimensions of the park. Per Statcast Park Factors, Bregman would have actually hit one more home run (19) if he were on the Cubs last season, but would have seen his doubles decrease significantly. Over the last three seasons, Wrigley Field has the lowest score in terms of doubles by right-handed bats, which will hinder Bregman's upside in points leagues, as he has typically sat near the top of the sport in doubles each season.
While his power production and counting stats should remain high in Chicago, managers expecting 25+ doubles should temper their expectations. His slight drop in upside pushes him to the low-end range of starting third basemen. He is a fine target at his current 117.5 ADP on NFBC drafts.
Bubba Chandler, SP, Pittsburgh Pirates
Coming into 2025, MLB Pipeline ranked Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Bubba Chandler as the top pitching prospect in baseball. Most believed the Pirates would call up the 23-year-old right away in 2025, but the team waited until late August. When Chandler finally reached the majors, he was used out of the bullpen for his first three appearances, giving up just three earned runs while striking out 12 across 12 innings. The team then transitioned him into the starting rotation, but his first MLB start was a rough one. The Brewers tagged Chandler for nine earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings.
From that point on, however, he dominated as a starter. Over his final three starts, he posted a 1.98 ERA with 19 strikeouts and zero walks. Overall, he finished his first MLB stint with a 3.09 SIERA, a 30% whiff rate, 25% strikeout rate, and a 3% walk rate across 31 1/3 innings. Looking ahead to 2026, Chandler has a 148 ADP and is the 40th starting pitcher off the board, yet he offers legitimate top-25 upside.
He features a four-pitch mix backed by strong underlying metrics, including a 115 Pitching+, 109 Stuff+, and a 104 Location+. Lastly, Chandler must find peace of mind knowing his role for 2026, and that's getting the ball every fifth day for the big-league club. While wins may be hard to come by, he should deliver strong ratios and plenty of strikeouts.
Andres Munoz, RP, Seattle Mariners
After three consecutive seasons of outstanding numbers, Andres Munoz had his best year in 2025. He had a career-high 38 saves, a career-best 1.73 ERA, and his 32.7% K% ranked in the 96th percentile. Munoz will once again start the season as the best bullpen arm in Seattle, entering games behind one of the best starting rotations in the Majors. There is little reason to believe Munoz won't be a top-five fantasy reliever again in 2026, but we should still expect some regression. Munoz's 3.05 xFIP and 2.98 SIERA suggest his 1.73 ERA was fortunate.
Both his xFIP and SIERA were similar to what Munoz had in 2023 (2.94 ERA) and 2024 (2.12 ERA). That's not to say Munoz can't still be elite if his ERA regresses. His 2.82 xERA (expected ERA) ranked in the 93rd percentile. Given Munoz was one of only five pitchers to record 30 saves and tally 80 strikeouts, even a higher ERA in 2026 won't prevent him from being one of the best fantasy relievers this year.
Draft Munoz and expect at least 30 saves and 80 strikeouts. Just don't be surprised or disappointed if he has a 2.50 ERA.
Jacob Wilson, SS, Athletics
Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson had a phenomenal rookie season, finishing tied for the second-highest batting average in all of baseball at .311, while registering a .348 wOBA and 121 wRC+. The former first-round draft pick even surprised with 13 home runs despite a sixth percentile barrel rate (2.2 percent), and perhaps could have hit a few more if not for a fractured forearm due to a hit-by-pitch that cost him a month of the season.
The right-handed hitter recorded the second-lowest strikeout rate among qualified hitters last year and, along with a 99th percentile Whiff%, expect him to continue to hit for a high average as he's done for his entire professional career to this point. While that is a plus, the 23-year-old is a good-not-great contributor in the other meaningful fantasy categories, so his price is cheap in drafts.
Think along the lines of a .300-15-70-70-5 season, which has the 2025 All-Star going around pick 165 overall per NFBC ADP, which is a great value considering RotoBaller has him ranked at 143 overall.
