Projecting Rest of Season Top 10 Closers in 2025 Fantasy Baseball (Week 10)

emmanuel clase fantasy baseball rankings closers draft sleepers MLB injury news

Joey Pollizze projects which 10 closers will finish the season in the top 10 for the 2025 fantasy baseball season as we head into Week 10 of MLB action.

There's no doubt that things change so fast at the closer position. Having two, three, or even four bad outings in a row could result in the relief pitcher losing his job as the team's closer. Just look at San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Walker. He was San Francisco's closer to open the season, but blew two saves in his first 16 appearances.

There have also been plenty of closers who have struggled this season. Athletics closer Mason Miller has a 5.49 ERA in 20 appearances, Toronto Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman has a current 5.81 ERA, and Los Angeles Dodgers closer Tanner Scott has blown five save opportunities in the early going.

So, which closers do we expect to finish in the top 10 come October? Who are the top 10 closers in fantasy right now? Let's dive in and look at the current top 10 closers as of June 3, 2025.

Current Top 10 Closers for Fantasy Baseball

Pitcher IP SV K ERA WHIP
Andres Munoz 25.2 17 33 1.40 0.86
Josh Hader 26 16 39 1.38 0.73
Robert Suarez 27.1 19 29 1.98 0.77
Edwin Diaz 25.1 13 39 2.49 0.99
Camilo Doval 27 7 24 1.67 0.93
Jhoan Duran 27.1 9 32 0.99 1.01
Emmanuel Clase 25 13 26 3.96 1.32
Carlos Estevez 26.1 17 25 1.71 1.10
Aroldis Chapman 25 9 33 1.80 0.96
Ryan Helsley 21 13 23 3.00 1.43

1.  Andres Munoz, Seattle Mariners

Munoz no longer has a 0.00 ERA and has given up runs in back-to-back relief appearances. However, he is still the best fantasy closer right now. The Mariners closer ranks tied for second in saves (17) while ranking tied for first in save opportunities (21). There aren't many closers who have been more elite than him this season. His 33% strikeout rate also helps his long-term fantasy value.

2.  Josh Hader, Houston Astros

Hader could have been in the top spot, considering he has been locked down for the Astros this season. He has converted all 16 of his save opportunities and gave up just one run throughout May. The left-hander should continue to be an elite option for Houston's bullpen moving forward, with his 38.5% strikeout rate.

3. Robert Suarez, San Diego Padres

Suarez currently leads the league in saves (19) and is tied for first in save opportunities (21). Although the metrics suggest that the Padres closer could see some regression in the coming months, it's hard to ignore what he has done to start the season. He has given up an earned run in just two of his 27 appearances in 2025. So, this feels like a fair spot for him in Week 10.

4. Edwin Diaz, New York Mets

After struggling for most of the 2024 season, Diaz has bounced back. The hard-throwing right-hander has converted 13 of 14 save opportunities this year and has given up just one earned run over his last 15 appearances. He also carries an elite 38.6% strikeout rate to go with a solid 0.99 WHIP. The veteran is much deserving of a top-5 spot on this list.

5. Camilo Doval, San Francisco Giants

Doval was one of the best closers in the league back in 2023 when he finished with 39 saves. However, he lost his closer job last season and didn't win that job out of spring training this year. That closer job, though, has found him once again amid Walker's struggle. Doval is now San Francisco's closer and has allowed just two runs since April 7.

6. Jhoan Duran, Minnesota Twins

Duran has been on another level for the Twins bullpen this season. He has allowed just one run since April 23 and continues to strike out batters at a high level. While fantasy managers would like the right-hander to see more save opportunities moving forward, that's not really in his control. The 27-year-old has converted 9-of-10 save opportunities in 2025.

7. Emmanuel Clase, Cleveland Guardians

Clase is probably the biggest riser on this list from last week. Following a rough start to the season, he has looked more like himself on the mound. The Guardians relief pitcher has closed out all eight of his save opportunities across his last 12 appearances while allowing just one earned run during this span. We should expect him to continue to rise on this list in the coming weeks.

8. Carlos Estevez, Kansas City Royals

The Royals knew they needed to acquire a closer in the offseason, and they got a pretty good one in Estevez. He has lived up to expectations in his first season with the team. He is currently tied for second in saves (17) and ranks tied for third in save opportunities (19) in 2025. The right-hander has also converted each of his past 12 saves while allowing just one earned run since April 23.

9. Aroldis Chapman, Boston Red Sox

Even in his 16th major league season, Chapman remains an elite closer. He has converted 9-of-10 save opportunities this season and carries an elite 33.3% strikeout rate into Week 10. Although the Red Sox have been struggling lately, the southpaw should be a strong fantasy asset moving forward.

10. Ryan Helsley, St. Louis Cardinals

Helsley got off to a rough start in 2025 but has been much better in recent weeks. He went 9-for-9 on save opportunities in May and has allowed just two runs in his last 10 appearances. Given that the Cardinals continue to win games, the two-time All-Star is surely trending up in Week 10 of the fantasy baseball season.

Projected Top 10 Closers for Fantasy Baseball

After diving into the top 10 current closers in fantasy baseball, let's predict which closers will finish top 10 at the position by the end of the season. This list takes into account some regression and some pitchers who will likely bounce back in the coming months.

Pitcher Projection Current Rank
Andres Munoz 1 1
Josh Hader 2 2
Emmanuel Clase 3 7
Camilo Doval 4 5
Edwin Diaz 5 4
Robert Suarez 6 3
Luke Weaver 7 N/A (IL)
Jhoan Duran 8 6
Ryan Helsley 9 10
Mason Miller 10 17

It was difficult to compile which closers would finish top 10 at the end of the season. However, using metrics, current situations, and projections, we could analyze the best closers to own over the next few months.

The top on this list (Munoz and Hader) stays the same, but we should expect Clase and Doval to move up a few spots by October. Clase has been in a groove recently and appears to have rediscovered that 2024 form in which he saved 47 games. As for Doval, he has been one of the best relief pitchers this season and is the primary closer on a Giants team that has already played in 22 one-run games.

The biggest faller on the list above is Suarez. Even though he saved 36 games for the Padres last year, his metrics suggest some regression could be coming his way. His whiff rate (22%), walk rate (8%), barrel rate (9.5%), and hard-hit rate (44.4%) all currently rank extremely poor. While he will probably still finish with 30-plus saves, he falls a few spots from the current rankings.

Some newcomers who weren't featured on the current top 10 rankings are Luke Weaver and Miller. Weaver will be out for a few weeks due to a hamstring injury, and Miller has struggled for a large part of the season.

However, assuming Weaver is still the Yankees closer when he returns, he should finish as a top-7 closer. He has a 1.05 ERA and eight saves in 24 appearances this season. As for Miller, he should be a better fantasy option moving forward. The Athletics closer has an elite 44% strikeout rate, and his expected ERA (3.33) is 216 points lower than his actual ERA (5.49).
