Recent Update

4 days agoNew York Mets officials decided before this season that they would never use closer Edwin Diaz for more than three outs, according to manager Mickey Callaway. It's why he wasn't brought in until the 11th inning in the win over the Phillies on Monday night. Callaway also said Diaz would never pitch in a tie game on the road. General manager Brodie Van Wagenen said the team "can always deviate from any rule," but Callaway said the Mets won't do so with Diaz until "we get to the playoffs." Diaz has a 1.35 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, six saves and 13 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings so far with New York. He's doing just fine as an elite fantasy closer.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
