Gerald Everett had the best year of his career in 2022. 2023 has not been a repeat performance, however.
Injuries, inconsistency, and the below-par play of the offense around him has caused Everett’s numbers to take a Ronnie Lott-like hit this year. The good news for the Chargers' top tight end is that he has been playing his best ball of the year in recent weeks. Everett has 13 receptions for 126 yards and a touchdown over his last three games. The bad news is that Easton Stick will be his quarterback this week, not the injured Justin Herbert.
Everett did not come out of his last game unscathed, though. He seems to have a hip injury that is hampering him this week and has his status as questionable for his next game versus the Las Vegas Raiders. Will Everett be able to suit up or will he leave his fantasy managers high and dry? Here is the latest:

Is Gerald Everett Injured or Healthy?
Everett was listed as “limited” by the Chargers on Monday and Tuesday with a hip issue. Being limited in practice early in the week would not normally raise many red flags if he was playing the usual Sunday game, but since the Chargers play on Thursday night, it causes a little more concern. Everett’s injury issues throughout the season also must make you wonder if he might not be able to suit up Thursday.
Everett’s status should be monitored right up to kickoff on Thursday night. He is trending towards the right direction since he was able to put in limited practice sessions instead of skipping practice entirely. If I had to bet right now, I would say Everett will get on the field against the Raiders and try to be Stick’s safety valve.
If you are forced to use Everett this Thursday, just know that you should not be expecting Rob Gronkowski-esque numbers. He has yet to crack the 50-yard barrier in any game this season and has an unproven backup signal-caller throwing to him. Everett should only be used as a desperate measure in standard leagues or a low-price play in DFS contests.
