Wide Receiver Matchups to Target in Week 12: Tyler Lockett, Tee Higgins, Courtland Sutton, Terry McLaurin, Garrett Wilson

Tyler Lockett - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Ryan's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 12 of 2022 - DFS wide receivers to target on DraftKings & FanDuel. These WR/CB matchups are GPP and cash game sleepers.

Week 12 will be full of exciting and unexpected games like the NFL has given us all year. The NFL has been full of surprises between the Eagles' 9-1 start and the Cowboys' 40 - 3 win against the Minnesota Vikings last week.

Hopefully, this DFS article will help you win some money while we watch our favorite teams and players this Sunday. Matchups for the wide receiver position aren't always as black and white as they can be for other positions. Receivers sometimes move around the formation or may face shadow coverage, meaning these matchups need to be broken down deeper based on that data.

Now, here are the top WR vs. CB matchups for Week 12. Use these to set season-long lineups, as well as gain a competitive edge in the DFS games. The matchup data used in this article is from PFF.

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

DraftKings $6200 / FanDuel $7400 - vs. Amik Robertson

Tyler Lockett has been putting together a very nice fantasy season thus far, which some doubted this offseason with the change to Geno Smith under center. Smith has been on fire this year, and the Seattle offense has been among the most exciting in the NFL.

Lockett currently averages 5.4 receptions, 64 yards, and 0.5 touchdowns per game this season and has a juicy matchup against the Raiders this week. Lockett scored a touchdown in three straight games going into Seattle’s Week 11 bye. Amik Robertson will likely be the primary defender, with Rock Ya-Sin defending on a few snaps.

Robertson currently allows 14.4 yards per reception, while Ya-Sin allows 10.1. Lockett boasts an excellent 94.8 matchup advantage against the Raiders defenders and should be able to put up some big numbers like he has been all year.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Commanders

DraftKings $5800 / Fanduel $7500 - vs. Darren Hall

Terry McLaurin has been a solid fantasy asset since Talyor Heinicke took over as starting quarterback in Week 7. Over the past five games, McLaurin is averaging 8.6 targets and 85 yards per game and has a matchup against the Falcons' defense that currently allows the second most fantasy points per game to wide receivers.

Hall will likely be the primary defender this week, with a modest 67.7 PFF coverage grade. Hall has steadily improved over the last couple of games but has not gone up against a receiver as talented as McLaurin since Week 7 against the Bengals. McLaurin has gone for over 100 yards in two of the last four games and could be a great value (especially for $5800 on DK).

Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals

DraftKings $6900 / FanDuel $8200 - vs. Roger McCreary

Tee Higgins was featured in this column last week, and he absolutely delivered. Against the Steelers in Week 11, he finished with season-highs in both receptions (9) and yards (148). Higgins finished as the overall WR7 last week and is in for another smash spot against the weak Titans secondary.

Last week, the Titans allowed 227 receiving yards and two touchdowns to the Green Bay Packers. Roger McCreary is projected to defend Higgins on most of the snaps and has been a decent defender this year.

Currently boasting a modest 62.9 PFF coverage grade, McCreary allows 10.1 yards per reception to opposing receivers. Ja’Marr Chase has been limited in practice and has a chance of suiting up; even if he does, Higgins is a must-start this week in all fantasy formats.

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

DraftKings $5600 / FanDuel $7100 - vs. C.J. Henderson

Much like the Denver Broncos, Courtland Sutton has had a very underwhelming season so far. Sutton is averaging just 4.6 receptions per game through ten games and has only found the endzone once. He has found a little more fantasy relevance over the past couple of weeks on the heels of Jerry Jeudy suffering an ankle injury.

Over the past two games, Sutton is averaging 5.5 receptions and 73 yards per game. That may not seem like a big increase, but the nine targets per game in that span is very encouraging usage. C.J. Henderson will likely be the primary defender with an abysmal 45.4 PFF coverage grade this year.

The Broncos also recently released Melvin Gordon III and placed Chase Edmonds on IR. With such a depleted running back situation, the Broncos will likely rely on the pass. With Jeudy missing the game, Sutton will be the top option once again.

DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals

DraftKings $7700 / FanDuel $8400 - vs. Asante Samuel Jr.

DeAndre Hopkins is one of the best receivers in the league. Since his debut in Week 7, he has averaged nine receptions and 97.4 yards per game. Hopkins missed the first six weeks but returned to immediate elite usage and never skipped a beat.

The Arizona receiving corps may be significantly depleted this week, with Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch missing practice on Thursday. Marquise Brown’s status is still up in the air, with a likely snap count if he does end up suiting up.

Hopkins has seen a 32% target share this year and should dominate the targets once again this week with the receiving corps all banged up. Every week he is a must-start, but this week is an even juicier matchup than most against Asante Samuel Jr. and the Los Angeles Chargers.

Garrett Wilson, New York Jets

DraftKings $4300 / FanDuel $6000 - vs. Kyler Gordon

Garrett Wilson has been slightly inconsistent this year, but much of that can be blamed on Zach Wilson. Coming into this season, there was some uncertainty about whether Garrett Wilson or Elijah Moore would be the WR1 of this Jets offense. So far this year, it has clearly been Wilson. Since Week 7, Wilson has run 30.8 routes per game, compared to Wilson’s 12.3 (as per RotoViz).

Wilson is averaging 7.2 targets per game this year and has gone for over 90 yards in two of the last three games. Last week, Wilson had one of his worst games of the year, only finishing with two receptions for 15 yards. Zach Wilson only completed nine passes that game, and the Jets were a complete mess on offense.

Mike White is officially starting quarterback for Week 12, with Zach Wilson moving to the bench. Mike White is not the greatest quarterback, but at this point, anyone is an upgrade over what the Jets have been working with.

A new/inexperienced quarterback will throw to his first read more often than not, allowing Wilson the chance to put together a big game. Wilson boasts an excellent 90.0 PFF matchup advantage score over Kyler Gordon and should be able to rip apart the weak Chicago secondary on Sunday.
