What is Novig?
Novig is one of the fastest-growing peer-to-peer sports prediction markets. On Novig, users trade directly with each other, without the "vig" typically associated with a sportsbook. The vig is the fee sportsbooks charge to use their services. It's a hidden cost in the odds offered on each side of a specific bet. When a book offers -110 odds on both sides of a bet, it is keeping close to 10% of every bettor's wager, regardless of whether you win or lose.
On Novig, users trade with each other on the outcomes of sporting events, similarly to the way that investors trade on the stock market. But instead of having to beat the books, you just have to win against other users -- the site keeps no commission.
Users can bet on most traditional sports markets, including moneyline bets, spreads, totals, player props, parlays, and futures!
Novig operates with two virtual currencies. Novig coins can be wagered for fun and to test out strategies, while Novig cash can be wagered on all markets and then redeemed for real cash prizes.
Access to Novig is widespread; it's now accessible in 36 U.S. states.
How Does Novig Work?
Since users are not playing against the books, there is an opportunity to make more money per wager you win, and users can usually find better value on bets (in terms of the prices offered) than on traditional sportsbooks.
There are no oddsmakers; users dictate their own odds. You can either accept the odds the market offers or set your own odds. If you set your own odds, another user has to accept them on the other side for the bet to be activated. Users drive the market, not the sportsbook or oddsmakers!
NRFI (No Runs First Inning) Bets
All odds are from Novig and were accurate as of 9:00 AM ET
New York Yankees at Cleveland Guardians: UNDER 0.5 runs - 1st Inning Total (-126)
This afternoon, the Yankees and Guardians wrap up a three-game series with what could be a potential pitchers' duel between lefties Carlos Rodon and Parker Messick. Rodon pitched well against Cleveland in his last start, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out seven.

Messick hasn't faced the Yankees yet, but is having a dream rookie campaign in 2026 with a 2.40 ERA. The top of the Yankees lineup looks a lot less dangerous without Aaron Judge, and Messick has been excellent in the first frame this season.
I'm actually surprised these odds are more inflated, since I view this as one of the best pitching matchups on the slate today.
Washington Nationals at San Francisco Giants: UNDER 0.5 runs - 1st Inning Total (-115)
Another pretty interesting matchup today for a NRFI comes in San Francisco, where the Giants host the Nationals. Again, it's two lefties on the bump with Robbie Ray squaring off against Foster Griffin.
Both starters have an 8-2 NRFI record over their last 10 starts this year. Both offenses have been pretty decent lately, but neither one has the type of loaded top of the lineup that we have to avoid either. We get even better odds here than in Cleveland, and I'm okay backing the pitchers here for a scoreless first frame.
MLB Team Total Bets
L.A. Dodgers over 4.5 runs (-122) at Pittsburgh
The Pirates are rolling with Jared Jones today against the mighty Dodgers. While Jones is a hard-throwing stud, he has also been hit hard in his first two starts (5.78 xERA), and the Dodgers (after scoring 12 runs last night) have now gone over 4.5 runs in six of their last nine games.
The Pirates bullpen gave up a 10-spot in the 7th last night, so even if Jones holds down the fort, he's not likely to pitch deep into this one, and the Pirates pen could give up the remaining runs we need to cash.
St. Louis Cardinals over 3.5 runs (-127) at NY Mets
The Mets have pushed back Christian Scott to tomorrow and are going with a bullpen game today. In those situations, we often see some long relievers early in the game, with teams not being willing to burn their best high-leverage relievers just to eat innings.

The Cardinals' offense is hot, scoring four or more runs in eight of their last ten games, including a 7-run outburst yesterday against Freddy Peralta. This run total is simply too low for this offense and it's current form.

Prop Bet Picks
All odds are from Novig and were accurate as of 8:30 AM ET
Reid Detmers OVER 6.5 Strikeouts (+107)
Detmers' first start of the season came against this Houston team, and he struck out nine Astros in less than five innings. He's been a tough guy to predict on a start-to-start basis, but he checks in with a very solid 28% K% and 12.7% SwStr% coming into today's matchup and seven or more strikeouts in three of his last four starts.
In his last start, he shut out the Dodgers over six innings and finished with six strikeouts.

Houston should be a much better matchup today as they rank ninth in K% vs. LHP over the last two weeks at 24%. They'll send seven righties to the plate tonight, which favors Detmers, who has been better against RHH than LHH this year in terms of his strikeout splits.
Drew Rasmussen OVER 17.5 Outs (-120)
I am such a big fan of Rasmussen, and I really wanted to find a way to back him today against the Red Sox. I don't like betting on his strikeouts once he gets to 5.5, because he relies a lot of inducing weak contact and isn't always trying to strike everyone out.
But I think he will pitch very well today, and is coming into this start in excellent form as he tossed seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts against Miami in his last start.
He's gone at least six innings (18 outs) in four of his last six starts, and Boston ranks just 26th in wRC+ against RHP over the last two weeks. Look for Rasmussen to turn in another solid start, and I'm pretty confident that he can last at least six innings tonight.
