Mike Gesicki is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for tight ends. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 9 of the 2024 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki continued his odd season of transitioning between absolute non-factor to earning a surprising amount of targets and having an impressive fantasy day as a result. However, this is likely due to the absence of Tee Higgins (quad).

The Bengals offense is significantly worse overall without Higgins. They scored just 17, 16, and 25 points in their three contests without their No. 2 WR. However, Gesicki clearly benefitted. He saw increased playing time (51% of snaps) and was targeted eight times, catching seven passes for 73 yards.
In four full games of Higgins playing without injury, Gesicki totaled four targets, four catches, and 23 yards. Those are unstartable numbers. He's worth adding in deeper leagues as a streaming option during games that either of Cincinnati's top-2 WRs, Higgins or star Ja'Marr Chase, can't play in.
When those two are healthy, No. 88 plays such a small role, and gets an almost nonexistent slice of the passing game work, and can be safely dropped to waivers again. If you're in need of a tight end this year, keep your eye on the Bengals' injury reports and use that to make your decision regarding this player.
