DraftKings CFB DFS Lineup Picks: Daily College Fantasy Football Friday Slate (9/5/25)

Mike Marteny's DraftKings daily fantasy college football lineup picks for Friday 9/5/25 in Week 2. His CFB DFS lineup picks and DFS sleepers will help you win.

The NFL is taking over Thursday night this week, so we have a Friday slate instead. This isn't your normal small slate. We have at least one good game on there. All three will likely be competitive, even with FCS Eastern Washington making its way into our hearts and DFS lineups.

We begin with a low-key great matchup with James Madison visiting Louisville. Next up is Maryland hosting Northern Illinois (you know, the team that beat Notre Dame last year). We finish this off in Boise with the Broncos trying to get right against a fun-and-gun Eastern Washington offense.

In this article, I will provide you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/5/25, starting at 7 p.m. Eastern. I’ll provide multiple player suggestions for quarterbacks, running backs, and wide receivers, aiming to highlight one option at each end of the salary scale, from the highest to the lowest. Good luck, RotoBallers.

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Quarterbacks

Malik Washington, Maryland ($8.7K)

While it's true that FAU isn't known for defense, that's still a nice line for a true freshman. NIU should provide a little more resistance. Then again, the Huskies nearly lost to Holy Cross. Washington likely won't put up huge numbers, but he should be very solid once again.

Maddux Madsen, Boise State ($7.1K)

South Florida's line took it to Boise's offensive line. That won't happen here. Eastern Washington is as well known for its poor defense as they are explosive offense. There are going to be a lot of points in this one, and Boise likely wants Madsen to get some confidence back.

Alonza Barnett III, James Madison ($4.5K)

DraftKings screwed up. Barnett started over UNLV transfer Matt Sluka in Week 1 and did nothing to lose the job for this week. I don't like the matchup with Louisville, but Barnett put up 18.2 DraftKings points last week. He should be good for around a dozen this week at the minimum price for quarterbacks.

Also consider: Miller Moss, Louisville ($8.7K); Jared Taylor, Eastern Washington ($6.2K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Running Backs

Isaac Brown, Louisville ($8.8K)

I don't care who you're running against. If you can pile up 21 yards per carry on six carries, that's a hell of a day! James Madison shut down the Weber State run game, but Brown is a special talent. A case can be made for Brown as the best back in the ACC.

Marceese Yetts, Eastern Washington ($5.1K)

Yetts only carried six times in Week 1, but he caught seven passes. With DraftKings having PPR scoring, that's a huge boost for someone this low on the salary scale. We have a couple of committee backfields on this slate. When dealing with those, it's best to go with the guy who's the better pass catcher of the two.

Also consider: Malik Sherrod, Boise State ($5.4K); George Pettaway, James Madison ($4.5K)

DraftKings CFB DFS Picks - Wide Receivers

Chris Bell, Louisville ($6.8K)

Bell only had five catches in the opener, but he tied for the team lead with six targets. In a more conventional game script like this week, Bell should see double-digit targets. Miller Moss threw two interceptions against Eastern Kentucky. Don't sweat the quarterback. Just play the receiver. There's more than enough value to use Bell and Isaac Brown in the same lineup.

Caullin Lacy, Louisville ($6.4K)

If the name sounds familiar, it should. Lacy posted 91 receptions for 1,316 yards in 2023 for South Alabama. Lacy missed the last half of 2024 with an injury and was still buried in the depth chart when he did play.

He tied for the team lead in targets with Chris Bell in the opener. Louisville had its way on offense against Eastern Kentucky. It will be tougher sledding against James Madison, but I wouldn't be shocked if Lacy has the better game.

Latrell Caples, Boise State ($5.6K)

Madsen rarely had time to find his receivers against South Florida. He should have plenty of time in this one. Caples led the Broncos with four receptions for 58 yards in the opener. He's likely going to lead the team again and should have around double the receptions.

Dearee Rogers, Northern Illinois ($3K)

Here's another minimum-priced free space. Someone needed to take over following the transfer of Trayvon Rudolph. It was Rogers who stepped up in Week 1. Rogers led the team with seven receptions (on seven targets!) and 73 yards. He also picked up 22 rushing yards on a reverse.

This is not a high-profile passing attack, but it's clear who Josh Holst's favorite target was. This is another egregious pricing error by DraftKings. Take advantage of this one as well.

Also consider: Jalil Farooq, Maryland ($5.8K); Dorian Fleming, Maryland ($5.5K); Isaiah Alston, James Madison ($4.7K); Shaleak Knotts, Maryland ($4.4K)

DraftKings CFB Stacks

Boise State

Eastern Washington is the only defense on the slate that we know isn't very good. Maryland and Louisville weren't tested in Week 1, so the jury is still out on them. It makes sense to attack here, but this is also the only game that might get out of control. There are a lot of good late-night hammers here.

I'm a big fan of Maddux Madsen for a bounce-back game here. We need at least two receivers with him. Caples is the given. I also like TE Matt Lauter, who was a target hog last year and should be again in 2025. As for the backs, Sherrod led the team in carries (11) and had three receptions in the opener.

I would listen if you advocated for a five-man stack with both backs (Sire Gaines still had nine carries in the opener) based on the matchup. That kind of build would set you apart in a large-field GPP.

Maryland

I'm going to toss this in here as a high-profile GPP-only stack. Northern Illinois is strong on the defensive side of the ball, but this Maryland passing game looked impressive in the opener. I don't know that I would mess around with Nolan Ray. If I'm stacking this, it will be with Washington and two or three receivers.

Knotts led the team in receptions and yards in Week 1, but Farooq and Dorian Fleming were also involved. If the Huskies succeed in shutting down the run game as they usually do, Maryland can open this up through the air.

Also consider: Louisville, Eastern Washington (GPP only)
