NFL rookies are in for a very difficult learning curve. This sport is taxing on both the mind and the body, and almost every NFL player is considerably better than most college players. The game's speed is incomparable, and its schemes are complex. As such, it is difficult for NFL rookies to make an impact on their teams in Year 1.

Still, many players come into the league ready to play. Often, these players come out of nowhere. Sometimes the top players in the draft are disappointing, while players selected in later rounds make a huge impact as a rookie. Many factors can contribute to this phenomenon, including coaching, organizational stability, and opportunity.

The 2026 NFL Draft was considered by many draft pundits to be a weaker class than usual. However, there are still several high-quality prospects who are set to make a large impact this year. Whether it be due to an opportunity born of their situation or their talent alone, let's dive in and assess who could make the largest impact this year.

10. Brandon Cisse, CB, Green Bay Packers

The Packers boasted a stout defense in 2025, but they had a definite need at cornerback heading into 2026. With no first-round pick due to the Micah Parsons trade, Green Bay made the most of its first selection in this draft. Brandon Cisse will slot in as a likely Day 1 starter for the Packers. He slipped a few spots in the draft, providing a likely steal for the team.

Cisse has the potential to turn into much more than a solid starter. However, for now, he addresses a position of need for the Packers as they look to compete in a loaded NFC North.

9. Cashius Howell, Edge, Cincinnati Bengals

Much like the Cowboys, the Bengals identified needs all over their defense and managed to address many of them in the draft. Cashius Howell will replace the departed Trey Hendrickson. Howell was thought to be a potential first-round pick in the draft. He slipped to the middle of the second, much to the delight of the Bengals.

The Bengals still have 2025 first-round pick Shemar Stewart, who they hope will develop into something more. However, Howell is a much more NFL-ready prospect. He racked up 11.5 sacks in 2025, which is a great production profile. He should also complement free-agent signing Boye Mafe quite well.

8. Antonio Williams, WR, Washington Commanders

We do not always talk much about third-round selections, but Antonio Williams finds himself with a golden opportunity in front of him. The Commanders are devoid of wide receiver talent outside of Terry McLaurin. As such, Williams could slot in as the team's No. 2 wide receiver as early as Week 1.

Never forget that McLaurin himself was once a third-round selection. With such a need at the position, Williams should be able to support Jayden Daniels out of the slot. He could be a nice safety blanket for the third-year quarterback as this team looks to get back on track in 2026.

7. Anthony Hill Jr., LB, Tennessee Titans

The rest of the AFC South better watch out, with Tennessee finding itself on this list twice. Anthony Hill Jr. slid much further into the second round than many anticipated. He should fit perfectly in a scheme run by head coach Robert Saleh.

Saleh has been the architect behind several excellent 49ers and Jets defenses over the last several years. With an athletic and rangy linebacker like Hill, he should have a lot to work with. This pick flew under the radar during the draft, but it feels like it could pay dividends by midseason.

6. Jadarian Price, RB, Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks needed a running back, and they needed one badly. Following their Super Bowl victory, Seattle watched as Kenneth Walker III departed for Kansas City.

No. 2 back Zach Charbonnet is solid, but he is coming off a torn ACL and seems unlikely to be ready for the start of the season. Price will likely share touches with other running backs on the roster, but his impact should be huge.

Price brings the explosive element to the running game that Walker is leaving behind. This team relies heavily on the running game to set up play action. Without it, the offense would be completely different. Look for Price to get the ball early and often as Seattle looks to repeat.

5. Caleb Downs, S, Dallas Cowboys

Defense does indeed win championships, and Dallas seems to know this. After a historically bad season defensively, the Cowboys grabbed Caleb Downs at No. 11 before he could slip any further. It was a bit surprising that the versatile defensive back slipped this far. He compares to other versatile safeties in the league, such as Budda Baker and Nick Emmanwori.

Downs is going to make a huge impact on the Cowboys defense this season. This unit was devoid of playmakers in 2025, and Downs is the ultimate playmaker. Do not be surprised if he is a finalist for DROY.

4. Spencer Fano, OT, Cleveland Browns

For a team that wants to run the ball, Spencer Fano was a heck of a selection. Fano should help stabilize an already solid Browns offensive line. He will do well in protecting whoever the Browns start at quarterback, while also opening up running lanes for Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson.

This pick is not splashy, but it is as important as any the Browns made during this draft. They need to make sure their trenches are good to go while they figure out their issues under center.

3. David Bailey, LB, New York Jets

Throughout the predraft process, the debate between David Bailey and Arvell Reese was hot. Bailey was considered to be the more NFL-ready, pure pass-rusher, while Reese was considered to have a high ceiling with serious versatility. The Jets ultimately went with Bailey at pick No. 2, and they can't go wrong here.

Bailey is coming off a season in which he recorded 14.5 sacks at Texas Tech. Although Texas Tech did not have the most difficult schedule last year, a 14.5-sack season is incredible for a college player. Bailey should have an enormous impact on a Jets defense that struggled to stop anyone in 2025.

2. Francis Mauigoa, OT, New York Giants

Francis Mauigoa was an underrated selection in this year's draft. Offensive tackles are not "sexy" selections, but they can pay dividends in the long run. Mauigoa is joining a team bent on making Jaxson Dart a franchise quarterback. Dart suffered from a myriad of injuries in 2025. Mauigoa will assist in limiting those injuries in 2026.

1. Carnell Tate, WR, Tennessee Titans

Carnell Tate's selection at No. 4 was a surprise to many. The Titans were heavily linked to Jeremiyah Love and some of the top defenders in this class. However, Tate plays a position of need and will immediately assist in the development of Cam Ward.

Tate was a stud in college, but his numbers were a bit depressed because he played with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiah Smith at Ohio State. Don't mistake him for anything less than awesome. Tate has a chance to take over the No. 1 wide receiver role in Tennessee in Week 1. If Ward makes strides this offseason, Tate could have a rookie season for the ages.
